What a fantastic experience trying Marimbas. Authentic and wonderful flavors, cozy atmosphere, friendly and serviceable staff. I came for breakfast and tried the Cafe de Olla. What a banger!! If you’re a coffee lover I highly recommend that. They have other varieties and also package their own beans, Tres Hermanos Coffee Co. (I’m taking 4 bags home!) I accompanied that with some of their fresh pan dulce they make here. (Pro tip: Grab a champurrada and dip it in the coffee and take a bite!) I then ordered their desayuno típico and had a great meal. The plantains and beans were an extra punch to the taste buds. There are many more traditional dishes to try… will definitely be back again!!

Honestly, the place is very beautiful, but I believe that a big part of the atmosphere comes from the employees. And honestly, now it feels very boring. The same employees who used to work there are no longer there. They were always able to put a smile on your face, but now most of the staff seem serious and uninterested. There was a young man who I believe was named Deyvid. He was very friendly, and you could tell he had a lot of experience. There was also another young woman who was very good at her job. I don’t know what happened to them, but their absence is definitely noticeable. I started going to this restaurant when it first opened, and I always thought it was a very nice place. However, recently I have gone twice on the weekend and once during the week, and the experience has been very different. The employees spend a lot of time on their phones, and it takes a long time for the orders to come out. Before, if there was a delay or any kind of problem, the employees would come over, explain what was happening with a smile, and try to make you feel comfortable. Now, on the other hand, there is often an attitude of frustration or an unfriendly expression. Honestly, I think the change in staff has affected the restaurant a lot. The employees who were there before provided great service and made you want to come back. I don’t know what happened to them, but I think the restaurant should consider bringing some of those people back because they had the kind of service and personality that this restaurant needs. It’s a shame because I used to see the restaurant growing and becoming better, but with these changes, I feel like instead of moving forward, it is going downhill. I really hope they can improve the service and bring back the atmosphere they had when they first opened.

Everything was delicious. Best arroz con leche ive had in Austin so far. I had the chuchito to start and it was so flavorful. The desayuno tipico was exactly what i was craving and was good portions too. First time having guatemalan food and will definitely be back to this restaurant.

Let me start by saying the atmosphere was incredible. From the props and colors to the music, everything felt so immersive. And the food was even better! I came in with my family, and they were absolutely starving while I wasn’t even that hungry yet. But once the food came out, the flavors were so rich, authentic, and full of character. Now imagine how good it must’ve been when you’re actually starving! 😂 Definitely an experience we all really enjoyed.

Everything on the menu is delicious, especially the caldos and Guatemalan tamales! I’ve gone so many times and have tried everything on the menu. If you visit, don’t forget to try the atole de elote and grab another for later It’s to die for! The establishment is super clean, and the décor is beautiful and traditional. They are so welcoming too. I love it!

Very colorful, lively atmosphere. They were pretty busy when we got there so it took a little longer for our food to arrive but not a big deal. We tried the grilled chicken, shrimp, beef and sausage. Probably won't have the sausage next time but everything else were good. Will most likely come back for the atol and caldo :)

Amazing fresh fast food. Service was great and we will definitely be coming back. I got the mini tostada trio and the Tamal de Chipilin. My husband got the Pepian de Pollo and we both really enjoyed everything. Great prices too!

Our first visit was a pleasant surprise of how amazing the food was! We enjoyed the traditional Street food and House Specialty. The Desayuno Tipico with churrasco is a dish for first time trying Guatemalan food. Pepian de la Abuela is a flavorful stew that tastes like something from your grandma’s kitchen. The intense flavor of the agua fresca is a must try. We tried Jamaica and horchata. Don’t forget to try the yummy cafe de olla! Looking forward to try every dishes on the menu!
