Unforgettable day in Sintra 1000% recommend touring Sintra with Miguel. He was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. His expertise, efficiency, historical knowledge, and sense of humor made it an unforgettable day. We did a private tour with my husband and I. I can’t imagine touring Pena Palace and Quinta on our own. Not only did Miguel make things easy and stress free for us, but he gave us so much inside knowledge about the castles. An utterly awesome day trip to Sintra + My first time visiting Sintra, our group of 3 was picked up in Cascais by Miguel, our tour guide, a native of the Lisbon metro area. Miguel made our day so memorable! He's an encyclopedia of knowledge about the area's history, how it fits into the political and religious history of Portugal, and presents so much information in a fun and interesting way. We visited Pena Palace and the Regaleria in Sintra, the Cabo de Roca, and drove through the national park beach area on the west coast of Portugal on our way back to our rental in Cascais. He also stopped at the Boca do Inferno on the return trip and gave us a lot of context on the history of Cascais as a draw for important (read: rich!) families in the country as we drove home through the town. Miguel speaks perfect English and knew the staff at each of the palaces we visited, as well as back story, symbolism, and juicy history on each location. He was also super patient when I needed to stop a few times while walking uphill to some of the attractions, which I really appreciated - we have been walking 12,000+ steps a day and it caught up with me today. Even his restaurant suggestion in Sintra was a hit. Just a fantastic day all around. Absolutely worth booking with IGO - and ask for Miguel if he is available!

Exceptional experience - highly recommend We have been fortunate to do many tours all around the world and have seen many great sights and have many good guides, but this was truly an exceptional experience. From initial enquiries, the booking process, the communication and the tour itself it is obvious this is a top notch company. Our guide was Pedro M. and he was superb. A wealth of knowledge, considerate, flexible, punctual and a great sense of humour. The day we took this tour was our 25th anniversary and we will always remember Pedro M. and our experience with IGO Portugal with great fondness. Oh, and the sights were incredible. What a gorgeous part of the world.

Sintra and Beyond Sintra is a stunning place to visit, especially the Pena Palace. And it really came alive with the history lesson we received from our very knowledgeable guide, Pedro M. beginning with the full story of Portugal going back thousands of years BC and covering the era of the Pena Palace as well as the monuments In Lisbon. The town of Sintra has a charm of its own, and the drive to the cape and Cascais was extremely scenic. All and all a very full day of sightseeing.

Sintra with two young kids & grandparents We went on an all day tour to Sintra from Lisbon with our tour guide Katherine. We were travelling in a group of 6: two adults, two grandparents 65+ and two kids (aged 4 and 2). We thought a private tour would be the best way to see Sintra with this kind of group and as it turned out it would have been the only way we could have done it! The sites are far apart and require lots of walking up steep hills. We were able to choose the sites we wanted to see and chose Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. You have to book your own entrance tickets in advance. Our tour guide also recommended some extra sites on the day and we saw Cascais and the most western point of Europe (“end of the world”). Katherine also recommended a great seafood restaurant for lunch. Katherine was an excellent tour guide. She was very knowledgeable, kind and, most importantly, patient as we were quite slow. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend this to others. The booking process was smooth and the communication was very efficient.

Amazing tour with an amazing guide. We had the most perfect day with Pedro our guide on this amazing tour - not just his enthusiasm, exceptional knowledge of every aspect of the tour and places visited. This was not just Portuguese history but European history and the European monarchies; combined with skilled driving but the ambience and the friendship on the tour. It really was like a close and caring friend sharing with us all the wonderful places we visited. It was memorable and fun. And we ended the tour discussing music of the romantic period and listening to Chopin nocturnes. I'd have no hesitation in highly recommending this tour if you're looking for a fantastic day and making great memories.

Exceptional Tour Experience and an Awesome Guide. This tour was an exceptional experience. Our guide, Miguel Pires, tailored our tour to meet our requests and made suggestions to give us the best experience possible. I attended a business meeting at Palace Pena many years ago and wanted to revisit it. Miguel arranged the day and ended it with a visit to Palace Pena. He recommended a cute restaurant for lunch that was excellent. He then personally took us on a tour of the beautiful Royal Gardens and answered every question about every plant and pointed out rare plants so we didn't miss anything. He also managed our pace and path to make sure we could do it. He then took us to Palace Pena and convinced the staff to let us view the room in the palace where I attended the meeting so many years ago. Miguel is absolutely the best tour guide we've ever had.

Lovely Day Trip from Lisbon We two couples enjoyed a private tour with Pedro, our guide and driver. Stopped first in quaint Cascais, then windy Cabo do Rica. After lunch, at a lovely restaurant in Sintra where Pedro made us a reservation, we toured the Pena Palace. Pedro shared with us much history of the palace and the region. He was a knowledgeable and friendly guide, and the whole day was very pleasant. Highly recommend as a day trip out of Lisbon.

A day in Sintra We had the best day exploring Sintra, Cascais and Palace of Queluz with our guide Pedro M. Pedro was deeply knowledgeable about Portugese history and our experience was enhanced by his enthusiasm and passion for his work. Pedro ensured we had a lovely lunch and got to try all kinds of local foods, and went out of his way to make the day special. If you are venturing out to Sintra, I highly recommend going with a guide- the long lines, limited parking and crowded spaces would have been super stressful to manage on our own, but Pedro’s expertise made sure we got to see everything on our wishlist and more!

Private tour of Cascais, Cabo da Roca and Sintra (2 palaces). We had a delightful day (almost 10 hours) in the informative and insightful company of João and Sonia. VW people mover was very comfortable and João managed the driving and difficult parking with reassuring care allowing us to enjoy the 15000 necessary exercise steps interspersed through the day at our various stops. On the way back we were able to request a brief detour to the Monument to the Discoveries for a quick photo shoot. No issues or concerns to report - just a good decision on our part to engage I Go Portugal for the day, as recommended by our hotel, and our pleasure at spending the day with João and Sonia.

Our day with Sónia from I Go Portugal was absolutely unforgettable and without a doubt our favorite day of our entire trip to Portugal! From the moment she arrived right on time with a spotless, comfortable car and a huge friendly smile, we knew we were in good hands. Sónia made the entire experience feel personal, relaxed, and authentic. Throughout the day she shared so much incredible information, local history, and hidden gems that we never would have discovered on our own. It truly felt like we were getting the “inside scoop” from a local friend rather than just taking a tour. Fatima was especially meaningful for us, and we really appreciated how respectful and understanding Sónia was of our faith and experience there. She gave us the time and space to fully appreciate it while also sharing beautiful insights along the way. She also recommended and took us to the most amazing local restaurant for lunch — one of the best meals we had in Portugal! In Nazaré she showed us a hidden gem that most tourists would completely miss, and her storytelling about the history of Óbidos made the town come alive.
