We had such a wonderful stay at Eskapo Village!
Pros: The breakfast was delicious and satisfying — a great way to start the day while enjoying the serene atmosphere. We also had dinner at their restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The dishes were well-prepared, flavorful, and generously served. It’s very convenient to have a restaurant on-site, especially when you just want to unwind and not worry about going out. They also helped us out with our water activities and even offered us a late check out for which we were very thankful for. Cons: The WiFi was a bit slow at times and occasionally disconnected, requiring us to log in again. We raised this with the staff and were informed that it sometimes happens with certain phones. It didn’t bother us too much since we had our own mobile data as backup, but it’s something to keep in mind if you rely heavily on stable internet.)

Wonderful place!
This place is beyond five stars! From start to finish our experience here was absolutely fantastic. We received such a friendly and warm welcome from Simon when we arrived, which included helping with us with our luggage and guiding us along the peaceful bamboo boardwalk. As soon as we saw the setting, we were bowled over by its natural beauty and the way that the owners Simon and Alain have created an absolutely stunning, peaceful haven. Simon and Alain's kind hospitality was continued throughout our stay. They checked in on us and offered really helpful local recommendations and advice which helped so much when planning our days. The whole staff team really make this place special. The food was phenomenal- beautifully cooked with fresh ingredients. We tried lots of things on the menu including the great range of vegetarian choices and every single dish we ate was delicious! The beautiful restaurant with its fantastic staff, food and views, made our meal times truly memorable experiences. There were many lovely gestures during our stay. For example, the kitchen team learned one of us liked a specific vegetable not on the menu - the head of kitchen found some in the local market and cooked it to perfection! It was so thoughtful. We also had very last-minute plans, bringing some additional family for a couple of days and these plans were accommodated and they were made very welcome too. The cottages were beautifully designed with so much attention to detail. They were really comfortable, immaculately clean and had everything we needed. We honestly can't recommend this place highly enough! Thank you so much to all at Eskapo Verde for making our stay such a special one.
absolutely amazing food, service, and atmosphere! came in the evening with a group of five, the owner and staff were very accommodating with closing times. food was best we have had in moalboal, strong contender for top food in the philippines! a slight trek through the lodge are, but very worth the trip!!

We stayed here for one night. The setting is undeniably beautiful, surrounded by mangroves and wildlife; we saw monitor lizards, geckos, mudskippers, and fireflies. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by poor communication and inconsistent management.
Access to the property requires crossing a ~100m bamboo bridge, which is uneven, partially broken, and difficult with luggage. When we arrived, with 6 others including elderly, no staff were present to assist, there was no phone signal to contact the resort, and the office was closed anyways.
The restaurant serves very good food; it’s pricey, but delicious. Still, we waited around 90 minutes for two burgers (550 pesos each) while the restaurant was nearly empty. The owner mentioned being short-staffed, but there was no apology or effort to manage expectations.
The room (private cottage) was very basic: no A/C, unreliable WiFi (worked maybe 30 minutes the whole time) and no toiletries or toilet paper; the queen bed is simply two twins pushed together. The overall standard is minimal for the price, but it’s an eco lodge, so this was expected.
The main issue was inconsistency in communication with the owners. We were told kayaks were unavailable at arrival but we could use them the following day, and were explicitly (and insistently) offered a late checkout since our room was not booked.
The next day, kayaks were still unavailable, which we learned when attempting to take them out ourselves, as they are unattended by the dock. We were stopped and told we “lacked common sense” by the owner for putting the boat in the water. This was a simple misunderstanding that could’ve been avoided with clearer communication or a “closed / contact office for assistance” sign near the kayaks, but instead was handled pretty unprofessionally.
We were later told we had no late checkout arrangement, and told to leave immediately. Luckily, we were packed already, as we only stayed past check in to use the kayaks (as I thought we’d agreed the previous day) but we were made to feel guilty over it.
I really wanted to love this place, but the lack of clear communication made it difficult to trust what we were being told and significantly impacted the experience. The location is beautiful, but the management and inconsistency outweighed it for us.

Access to the resort is by a bamboo boardwalk; we know this requires constant maintenance and we have two workers in every week whose main job is to keep it in reasonable repair. We tell all guests *before* arrival about the boardwalk, that it is awkward with wheelie cases and tell them that staff are available to help on request. We know that the cell signal for some providers is poor which is why we ask you to contact us in advance or give us an arrival time if you need help.
We try to be as environmentally-friendly as possible and so we have never offered A/C and we say clearly on our pages that we only use ceiling fans for the whole resort. We provide bio-degradable shower gel and unbleached toilet paper in all cottages and dorms, plus a bidet spray in the cottages. We do not provide toothbrushes, toothpaste or shampoo since we consider these personal items. Our double beds are two single beds *bolted* together, this allows us to easily cater for guests who are not couples as well as offering large, comfortable beds for couples.
Our free distributed wifi is fiber-optic from PLDT and is generally reliable however over the Easter weekend, PLDT had severe reliability issues which are also out of our control. You didn't mention anything during your stay about poor or no Internet access.
As regards kayaking, you were informed when this was available (we are restricted by local tides) and that a guide is provided. When you tried to take a kayak by yourselves with no guide and earlier than the time given to you, you were told that this was not permitted.
For your late checkout, this was indeed agreed the day before however you did not inform us until when you wanted to keep the cottage and after lunch on checkout day we only asked you to give us a time for your checkout. You said you were ready to go so we assisted you to get your bag to our parking area.
Finally you complained about the time taken to serve two burgers and their price, we are sorry that you had to wait and we hope that the burgers were worth it. We were short-staffed that day which affected serving times and you were informed about this. For our prices, we monitor meal prices locally and we know that our prices are competitive with similar establishments and our quality is usually significantly higher. Of course we cannot and will not compete with caranderias in the market.
We are sorry that you did not enjoy our place and we hope that you find destinations more to your liking in future journeys. Happy travels.

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed. This property is Swiss-run and you can truly feel the attention to detail and quality throughout. It is incredibly quiet, nestled in the middle of a mangrove forest right by the sea, with ocean access that feels almost like having your own private pool.
The restaurant serves excellent food at very reasonable prices. The cottages are outstanding—spacious, solidly built from wood and bamboo, and beautifully maintained. They feature large balconies and are so well constructed that you might think they are brand new. Everything is extremely clean, and it’s clear that great care is taken across the entire property. At night, the natural sea breeze makes the fan almost unnecessary, and the mosquito nets ensure a comfortable sleep.
The location is about 5 km from Moalboal, easily reachable in around 15 minutes by tricycle for 100–200 pesos. Just across the road, you’ll find a route leading into the mountains, and there are waterfalls nearby as well.
I especially appreciated the peaceful setting compared to Moalboal, which can be quite noisy at night. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for tranquility, beautiful ocean views, and a relaxing stay.
