We have been members of the South West Landlords' Association for many years. We have received valuable information and advice which has aided the management of our property portfolio. . The office staff are pleasant and put themselves out to answer all queries, going away to research your questions, if necessary. We can highly recommend this organisation.
Since joining them, after a training day in 2019, I have found them a useful resource, easy to approach, helpful and professional. The fee for membership, even if it wasn't tax deductible,offers many benefits which often more than covers the yearly cost.
I can’t recommend SWLA highly enough. I’ve been a member for over two decades and they’ve personally helped me with a number of landlord issues, from legal and compliance questions through to advice and support with possession proceedings and navigating the Renters’ Rights Act.
Whenever I’ve needed advice, I’ve found the team incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. Being able to get a quick answer from people who really understand the sector has been invaluable.
There are also regular meetings, a really useful trade directory, member discounts and plenty of other resources.
I recommend SWLA membership to other local landlords all the time. For me, the membership fee is worth its weight in gold and has paid for itself many times over.

Introduced to a Great Landlord Insurance Broker
I have to tell you how delighted I am with the exceptional service we had from Jeremy Wood of Oakfield Insurance in renewing our landlords insurance. I am so pleased that SWLA were able to introduce us to such a brilliant insurance and service.
Jeremy had enough experience and patience to advise me on a complex matter. He spent an hour from 5-6pm that first evening with me and said he could arrange insurance that would cover us for these matters.
And so he did - at a very reasonable cost.
I am very happy now to have found a broker (through SWLA) whose knowledge of our needs and the market is extensive, but is also understanding and patient.

I have been involved in some way with SWLA for many years. They have consistently provided excellent information and support to landlords. Strangely enough I had not attended any of their webinars until January 2025 when I was on one about the impending changes in the law. It was excellent. A landlord who is not a member makes their task considerably harder. Well worth the subscription.
Great customer service, and well worth the membership fee
For the first time in 12 years of being and landlord, I'm having to evict a tenant. Mandy and Anna have been incredibly helpful, talking me through filling out the necessary (but often baffling) forms with great patience and humour. It's a huge reassurance to have their expertise on hand.
SWLA is a fantastic organisation - the regular newsletters are essential reading in these fast-changing times, the training courses on offer are excellent, and the partner discounts can easily offset the small membership fee over the course of a year. Most importantly though, the customer service is second to none. This morning I left a voicemail saying I was struggling with a form, and I was called back within five minutes!

This association is well worth joining. They keep you up to date with regulations and are always so helpful and informative when answering queries. So professional !

Invaluable information for both landlords and agents.Training courses are a must.How else can you keep up with current and constantly changing legislation.

I have been a member of the South West Landlords Association for many years. I have always been impressed with their helpful attitude and more recently all their work with private landlords, agents and Plymouth City Council,. They work hard to educate and promote positive practices within the private rented sector. As a landlord, director and co-owner of a Professional Managing Agent, myself and my team benefit greatly from the courses that the SWLA provide. If you are a landlord or thinking about becoming a landlord, joining the SWLA will be the best pennies you have ever spent.
