If you need jaw surgery and you are anywhere close to Seattle, go with Dr. Dhaliwal. I needed jaw surgery twice to treat my sleep apnea (first maxillary expansion, then MMA double jaw surgery), and both times I drove four hours to have Dr. Dhaliwal do it. I am very thankful to Dr. Dhaliwal for the excellent results. After maxillary expansion, I could breathe so much better through my nose, and MMA has enabled me to finally get off my dreaded CPAP machine. It is amazing to breathe freely at night for the first time in years. I consulted with what some might consider "bigger names" for the MMA surgery, but in the end I felt most comfortable and confident with Dr. Dhaliwal. I am a physicist who has done a deep dive into the sleep apnea literature myself, and I had lots of questions for everyone I consulted with. While many doctors grow uncomfortable with extensive technical questions, Dr. Dhaliwal seemed to enjoy them, and he always answered every one, even if it put him behind schedule for the rest of the day. Right now, Dr. Dhaliwal isn't as well known as some others within the jaw surgery world, but I think that is because he enjoys others kinds of maxillofacial surgery as well, and therefore doesn't perform exclusively jaw surgeries. But in my humble opinion he deserves to be listed right alongside the other top names--and certainly at the very top in Seattle.
