Took the Basic Hands Skills course and it was great. Michael will teach you invaluable tips that I imagine I’ll be using for years to come. I’d recommend it to anybody who is considering it.
I did the intro to hand tools session with Mike today and I had a great time. I’m hoping to start retraining as soon as a joiner and mikes course was spot on for me.
He was considered and present during the course giving so many helpful tips. The day was relaxed but focused enough that I still learnt lots.
Clean organised workshop and a nice dude, I would recommend to anyone interested in learning more about using tools correctly.
Many thanks Charlie it was a pleasure work for you.

Where do I begin?
I have just completed a 6-day 1-to-1 course with Michael at Wood.Ed Academy, and the experience has been exceptional from start to finish.
Michael’s kindness, extensive knowledge, and welcoming approach are second to none alls whilst being professional and fun. As someone who considers themselves a slower learner, Micheal adapted the entire course to suit my learning style and gave me his full attention throughout. I always felt supported, never rushed, and able to ask questions at any point.
I’ve come away from the week feeling far more confident and genuinely encouraged in my woodworking journey. If you’re looking to get into woodworking, Michael is exactly the person you want to learn from.
There is a real sense that Michael takes the time to understand each individual, builds a comfortable learning environment, and makes you feel part of the community. The atmosphere is relaxed, with plenty of coffee and biscuits keeping you going through the day.
The only sad part was leaving, and now I’m already saving up for more courses to get back there.
Thank you for a brilliant week and for sharing your knowledge so openly.

Mike has been a tutor of mine for nearly two years now. He’s incredible at sharing knowledge in a way that really makes you remember what you’ve been taught. Real patient and a real professional, you can certainly tell he’s been in industry and tackled some massive jobs. He is now my go to for any questions and really encourages you to be more precise while refining areas in your Joinry skills.
Book a course with Mike before they are all gone! You will not regret it, they are a steal for the knowledge you’ll get. Can’t say a bad word about him. 5 stars!
Excellent tuition from Mike. He shares tips that could take years to figure out on your own, backed by deep knowledge across all aspects of the craft. He’s clearly passionate about passing this on and genuinely helps you level up your woodworking. If you’re interested in learning joinery, this is a golden opportunity, highly recommended.
If you’re lucky enough to have Mike as your joinery instructor, you’re in for a treat. Not only is he an absolute master of his craft, but he’s the kind of teacher who makes you excited to turn up to class – even on a cold Wednesday morning with sawdust in your hair!
Mike has a great sense of humour that helps make complex techniques feel approachable and enjoyable, without ever dumbing anything down.
What really sets Mike apart, though, is how much he genuinely cares about his students. He’s a true people person who takes the time to get to know everyone, spot their strengths, and push them to go further than they thought possible. He doesn’t just teach you how to cut wood – he teaches you how to build confidence, problem-solve, and take pride in your work.
By the end of the course, you don’t just walk away with new joinery skills; you walk away knowing how to use those skills to move forward in life, whether that’s starting your own projects, pursuing a career in the trades, or simply feeling capable of tackling anything with your own two hands.
Mike is passionate, encouraging, and 100% dedicated to seeing every single student succeed. If you get the chance to learn from him, grab it – you won’t regret it!
Highly recommend – Mike is the real deal!
I trained under Mike for 2years. He's a great teacher, I learned a great deal and passed my level 2 joinery with him. Full of knowledge, look no further if you want to learn carpentry..
Mike is an experienced joiner and genuinely cares for his students. He has a very open teaching style catering the course specifically for you at your level and interests. All in all would highly recommend. What he has set out to do with wood Ed is inspiring and needed within the industry.
I had Mike as my tutor during Level 2, and he was a key reason I went on to complete my Level 3 in Bench Joinery. His teaching style is clear, supportive, and genuinely motivating — he always took the time to explain things properly and push me to improve my skills and confidence.
Mike’s encouragement and guidance played a huge part in helping me progress, and I’m now working in the joinery industry because of the foundations he helped me build at college. I can’t recommend him highly enough to anyone considering training in this field.
Mike of Wood.ED is a very skilled craftsman and excellent communicator. I developed so much learning with him for a year and I feel so much more confident in my woodwork. He is passionate about his subject, always going the extra mile to help and support his students.
Very knowledgeable and experienced which shows in his tuition. Professional throughout and always happy to answer questions and queries. Mike was great at mentoring you through problems and gives you a lot of confidence to complete the task. Would highly recommend.
Learning with Mike has been fantastic, he’s patient, kind and incredibly knowledgeable about all things woodworking. It’s evident he has a huge amount of hands on experience from years in the trade, whilst retaining true passion for his craft. Thanks Mike, I feel fortunate to learn from you!
Wood.ED have been brilliant at teaching me the basics of woodworking and pushing me and my skills. Teaching style is really approachable and understandable.
