Furthermore, he provided practical advice regarding tree trimming to ensure maximum solar output. Extremely disappointed with Renu Solar customer service
Great when they work. Service is contracted out and even parts under warranty take forever to be repaired.
We purchased our solar system from Renu Solar in 2020 for approximately $40,000, and we paid the system off this year. The system had been working well until the inverter stopped working more than a month ago. Since then, our electric bill has nearly tripled.
(They sell them w the idea that you can recoup your investment in saving on electric bills.)
We immediately contacted Renu Solar and were told that it would take approximately a week to obtain a replacement inverter, after which service would be scheduled.
Three weeks passed with no update. We finally contacted Sun Service, the company Renu contracts with to handle these repairs. We were told that the replacement inverter had not yet arrived. Because we were getting nowhere, I asked to speak with a manager.
When the manager returned my call, I was told that, amazingly, the replacement part had suddenly arrived at their office. However, I was then told that they could not schedule the repair until their service team had other repairs in our area.
Another week has now passed. I also contacted Renu’s corporate office directly, yet the only communication we have received is a text message saying that we are still not scheduled.
This is extremely disappointing. We spent a lot on this solar system, have now paid it off, and reasonably expect the company to stand behind the system and provide timely service when a major component fails.
Renu Solar promotes itself as a solar company that has remained in business while other solar companies have closed. Staying in business is not enough, though. Customers also deserve responsive communication and reasonable service when something goes wrong.
More than a month without a functioning inverter, with our electric bill nearly tripling, and still no scheduled repair is unacceptable to us.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Renu Solar

After you spoke with our service department on September 2, we promptly worked with the manufacturer to secure a warranty replacement, which arrived approximately two weeks later. We notified you when the inverter arrived, explained the anticipated 5 week service scheduling timeframe, and later confirmed your appointment for October 21 (approximately 5 weeks after the replacement part arrived).
We recognize that waiting for repairs is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience throughout this process. We remain committed to completing the repair and getting your system back up and running as soon as possible.

My wife and I had been interested in solar energy for quite some time. However, we didn’t trust companies that randomly show up at your door. A couple months back, Duke Energy Carolinas sent us a list of contractors for solar systems. Renu was on the list and by far stood out as the best option for us. After a very thorough demonstration, we decided solar would work well for us and Renu was our preferred installer.
Two things really reinforced our decision to use Renu. A code inspector I was talking with about the project said Renu would be their personal choice if going with solar. About a month after signing our original agreement, one of our Renu reps contacted me about redoing our agreement. The cost of materials had decreased so they were reducing our monthly payment by $32. I really appreciated their integrity because they could have kept the contract as it was and we would have never known any different.
The project managers keep you really informed of next steps and answer any questions you have along the way. The installers were just as professional and worked hard to get the project completed on time. The last day they worked til sunset installing the panels in full sun with a heat index of 100+ degrees. All were respectful and very friendly.
This was truly a turnkey job for us. The other great part about Renu is they handle obtaining all needed permits and the applications with Duke Energy. Renu paid for all permits and applications. I know those costs are worked into our monthly payment, but I can say our monthly payment is less than our average Duke Energy bill last year. If you are considering solar, I highly recommend checking with Renu Energy to see if it is right for you. For some, solar doesn’t make financial sense. However, for us, it is a wise investment that also includes a backup battery to use overnight or anytime the grid is down. Renu will walk you through current incentives and help you decide if solar is for you or not.
We had Renu install solar panels on our house in Durham in April 2025. We were told after 1 year of using it, they would install more panels if we were paying any electric bills. They also promised to pay us back the power bills we paid to Duke Energy. We have called multiple people in their office after the 1 year time period of using solar, no one will call us back. We are going to have to pay an attorney to fight for us now. DO NOT USE RENU SOLAR! They do not hold their end of the deal!

Daniel was our first contact with Renu Energy. We found him to be informative with rational logical suggestions on our proposed solar project.
His input and availability were 2 of the factors which led us to decide to use Renu. Daniel kept us in the loop from initial evaluation thru the completed installation which was important to us since there were a lot of “moving parts” so to speak
