We used Himalayan Outdoor Project for logistics during a 45-day whitewater kayaking trip in Nepal, and their support was beyond exceptional. I came to them with a list of rivers I was interested in paddling, and they put together an itinerary thoughtfully tailored to hit those rivers within the timeframe we had, breaking the trip into three regions: central, western, and eastern Nepal.
Within just over six weeks, we completed more than 500 miles of paddling across Nepal, including the Bhote Koshi, Balephi, Thuli Bheri, Humla and Lower Karnali, Sun Koshi, Tamur, Lower Arun, Dudh Koshi (below Basa), and Tamba Koshi. They handled the entire permit process and ensured we had one of their specialized representatives with us through each checkpoint.
Throughout the trip, we never once dealt with food poisoning thanks to their guidance on which stops were safe to eat at. While we could have saved some money by using buses, having our own vehicle was far more efficient and way less rowdy, which made a big difference over 45 days. There were three of us for the first 30 days and four of us for the last 15 days.
I was impressed by how smoothly they managed our transportation and logistics. They made a complex set of expeditions feel straightforward and well supported. In summary, I would especially recommend Himalayan Outdoor Project for anyone with a limited amount of time in Nepal, such as a 3–4 week trip.
