This is a great location, but EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, I did not see the value. I felt mislead when I made the reservation, being told only one or two spots were open. When we arrived there were at least 40 open spots. We asked to move to a shady spot, which was accommodating THANK YOU, over 100$ a night in South Dakota, shameful.
This place is amazing, hands down got rving right!Spacious lots,clean and quiet facility. We were so glad to have a pull through for our 45' fifth wheel
and spot has trees on both sides of us.Laundry room and washrooms were spotless.Large green fields to walk our dogs through and at night security would ride around.There was a pool there but we did not venue it,staff was friendly. Would definitely visit this beautiful place again
Had a great 4 night stay. Lots of types of sites to choose from, spacious sites, very well kept grounds and facilities. Awesome location for exploring Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore. Would definitely stay again!
This was a fantastic campground. We stayed busy visiting all the sites so we're unable to make use of the pool, etc. Everything was well kept and clean. We were in the Line Camp, Site #275. Plenty of room and quiet. Will definitely be back.
We are on a month long RV trip from St Louis visiting the Black Hills area before we head farther west! Rafter J was an absolutely perfect location for everything we wanted to see in 4 days! And the campground was absolutely beautiful! Everyone was polite and inviting! We will definitely recommend Rafter J to our friends and family! We can't wait to visit again! Thank you for a fabulous stay!
Recently spent a week here. It was a great location for exploring the area. Easy access coming and going. Sites were spacious and good hookup access. My site had a slope to overcome but the actually area the travel trailer was on was level. Had a great view of the sunset each evening.
We have come here for years with our 5th wheel RV. We enjoy this campground a great deal. Super friendly owners and staff. They keep it well maintained. The attention to security is very good. It is a beautiful setting! We love it! Our home away from home!
Came here alot pulling a 5th wheel on vacation. Family owned camp ground. Very clean and well kept. Beautiful setting in the Black Hills. Hadn't been back in several years, came back in 2026 and still run by same family, same we'll kept grounds as before. Great walking trails and hiking. Very quiet! Great vacation spot, close to lots of things to see.
Absolutely loved our stay at Rafter J Bar Ranch! The amenities were great, our spot was perfect, and the whole property was beautiful and well kept. We also loved having the little shop open for anything we needed. We’ll definitely be back!
One of the nicest places we have ever camped at out of state. All the staff was amazing so friendly and helpful. Views were amazing and location was spot on. Right in the middle of whatever you wanted to see.
A fancy RV campground in the Black Hills, near the Mickelson bike trail. Nice amenities, but expensive!

Rafter J Bar RV Park is absolutely beautiful and one of our favorite places we've stayed! The campsites are spacious and well spread out, so you don't feel crowded by your neighbors. The park is peaceful, clean, and surrounded by gorgeous scenery.
The hot tub was a perfect way to relax after a day of exploring, and the staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed.
The location couldn't be better—it's close to everything you want to see in the Black Hills, making it the perfect home base for sightseeing. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Rafter J Bar RV Park to anyone visiting the area. We can't wait to come back!
