We had a great stay! The accommodation and the entire property are beautiful, well maintained, and have a really nice atmosphere. A special thanks to our kite instructor Jamal, who made our experience even better. He was super friendly, patient, and professional, and we had a great time learning with him. It’s also a perfect place to start kitesurfing as a beginner, and I made great progress during my stay. Would definitely recommend this place!

Réponse à votre réponse : Nous avions réservé et l’accès nous a été refuser par jeune avec des radios et habilles comme des clochards très agressif. Vous êtes de très mauvais esprit L’hôtel étais vide, nous avions une réservation pour le restaurant et l’école de surf nous avons été bloquer impoliment par la sécurité. C’mon qui est une honte

Les bungalow sont spacieux, bien aménagés, d’une propreté impeccable et la vue donnant sur la plage de sable blanc est absolument magnifique! Le site est superbe, extrêmement calme et reposant… On se sent presque au bout du monde ! En revanche, j’ai été assez déçue par le manque d’ambiance et de convivialité entre les occupants de l’hôtel durant la période à laquelle j’y ai séjourné… le lieux est très étendu et ne favorisant pas trop les échanges entre les personnes, ceci restant mon appréciation personnelle ☺️. Les prix du bar et des autres prestations sont équivalents aux prix parisiens.

Bonjour. Merci pour votre retour. Nous sommes désolés que nous n ayons pas assez fait attention à vous. Pour les prix, nous sommes loin de tout et avec les coûts de transport exorbitants à cause du prix du carburant cher, ils deviennent eux aussi plus chers…

Ocean Vagabond is a beachfront restaurant with bar, located at the far end of the long crescent-shaped beach in Essaouira on Avenue Mohammed V. During several stays in this charming and quiet town, one of my favorite places in Morocco, my identical twin brother and I always ended up having coffees and drinks at Ocean Vagabond, usually sitting at one of tables outside, to relax before a long walk along the beach to our riad in the medina. The minute you walk inside you feel the sophisticated but casual beach atmosphere and when you look out the windows you see many comfortable chairs and sofas, set in a garden of trees with the ocean and sand dunes in front of you. If you want to ride a horse or a camel, they are right outside on the dunes. The menu of Ocean Vagabond has lots of variety, mainly fishes and some burgers. It is not cheap. Wines are sold by the bottle or glass. The staff seems rushed and service can at times be slow. The atmosphere is relaxing and quiet with a wonderful panoramic view of the long and wide beach and the medina and fishing port of Essaouira in the distance. Credit and debit cards are accepted.

# Kitesurfing in Dakhla — A Mixed Bag Spent over a week kitesurfing in Dakhla. Made some progress, but overall, the experience was disappointing. ## 1. Kitesurfing spots - **White Dune:** Probably the best spot, but requires a separate hour-long trip from the hotel, and excursions aren't organized every day. - **Main hotel spot:** Not particularly beginner-friendly. The water gets deep quickly, and the wind tends to push you toward the open ocean. - **Teaching spot:** Decent for learning, but going to the same place every day gets monotonous. Overall, I found the scenery uninspiring. The unpleasant fish smell from the nearby fishing village didn't help either. ## 2. Quality of instruction **Poor teaching standards** - Limited English proficiency among instructors. - No radios for real-time communication. - Instructors don't kite alongside you. To get feedback, you have to return to them. **Too much praise, too little teaching** The instructors seemed more focused on offering praise than actually teaching. Plenty of "Wow, amazing! You're doing great!" but very little constructive feedback or technical guidance. It felt more like cheerleading than coaching. **Questionable safety standards** I once lost my board at the main spot, where the wind pushes you toward the open ocean. I signaled to my instructor for help, but he did nothing. I started body dragging toward shore and was fortunately picked up by a passing boat. I had anticipated this scenario beforehand and deliberately stayed within a distance from which I believed I could return safely without assistance. Still, I couldn't help wondering what would have happened if there had been no boat, I had been farther offshore, or I hadn't prepared for this possibility. ## 3. Value for money At **€200 for a two-hour private lesson**, the instruction was both more expensive than what I've encountered in Europe and considerably worse. When I rented equipment without an instructor, I barely noticed any difference. ## 4. Accommodation Hotel rates were surprisingly high, even by European standards. If you're planning a trip to Dakhla, I'd recommend staying in the city and renting a car to reach the kitesurfing spots rather than paying a premium to stay at one of the waterfront hotels. Just by extra 20-25 minute drive you might save yourself 1000 + euro easily (assuming a 2 week stay) Verdict Dakhla might be great for experienced, independent kitesurfers, but I wouldn't recommend it for beginners looking to learn. I improved somewhat, but largely despite the instruction rather than because of it. For the prices charged, I expected much better teaching and safety standards.

Bonjour, nous sommes bien désolés que vous n ayez pas apprécié l expérience vagabonde. Effectivement les prix peuvent paraître élevés, mais ils sont affichés clairement sur notre site web et donc vous les connaissiez avant de réserver chez nous. J ajouterais que le fait d être à Dakhla, éloigné de plusieurs milliers de kilomètres de nos points de ravitaillement, n aide pas à proposer des tarifs meilleur marché. Encore une fois désolé.

Un super bar-restaurant directement sur la plage d'Essaouira, idéalement situé juste à côté des départs de balades à cheval, en dromadaire et en quad ! L'ambiance est top et le personnel est vraiment très sympathique. Côté carte, tout est très bon avec un chouette mélange de spécialités locales et de cuisine internationale (c'est d'ailleurs l'un des rares endroits au Maroc où l'on a trouvé de vraies pizzas avec du jambon de porc !). Les cocktails sont également excellents. Une adresse incontournable pour passer un très bon moment au bord de l'eau !
