Had a pretty big section of the roof redone and was happy with how the job was handled. The crew stripped everything down to the wood, worked carefully around the dormer/window area, and installed new GAF underlayment before putting the new roofing system down. There were a lot of details and penetrations on this roof, so it definitely wasn’t just a straightforward tear off. The guys worked steadily, had the materials brought directly up to the roof, and took their time around the areas that could potentially cause leaks later. What I appreciated most was being able to actually see the different stages of the work instead of everything just being covered up right away. Very happy with the finished roof and would use them again.

An unused vent opening had been patched repeatedly since before we bought the house. During the replacement, they removed the old curb and closed the opening at the deck instead of flashing around it again. That left one fewer place for water to enter. The aluminum siding on this rear extension of our house in Astoria had accumulated dents, loose seams, and several areas where the finish had worn down to bare metal. A few panels rattled during windy weather, while others had been screwed through the face to keep them in place. Repairing each section would still have left a wall full of mismatched fasteners and distorted panels. Removal exposed an older layer of asphalt-faced sheathing beneath the aluminum. The wall did not have a dependable modern drainage layer, but the structural sheathing remained mostly sound. Water damage was limited to one corner beside a former downspout location. That corner was repaired before a continuous weather-resistive barrier was installed. Window and door openings received new flashing that directed water over the barrier rather than behind it. The owners selected insulated vinyl siding as the replacement, with coordinated mounting blocks around exterior fixtures. The panels were installed without tight nailing or unnecessary face fasteners. The rear stair and neighboring passage remained usable, although sections were briefly closed while material was lifted. Aluminum scraps were separated for recycling, and the final cleanup included the window ledges, stair treads, and roof of the lower extension.
