Professional, but little intimidating for first timer.
I managed to book the artist I wanted and it was handled quickly and professionally.
My comments from here are based on my experience as a first time user of booking agencies and not a reflection on anyone. I found it an intimidating and rather cold process. My naivety meant there was no real engagement with my event and its needs. The contracts and details issued were completely alien to my usual interactions with performers and made me wonder if I really wanted to be doing this.
The catering riders were hilarious. It did not apply to my artist, but some of the list of wants and needs of others gave me a good laugh. Anyone would think some of them were Taylor Swift. But it did help me decide who I would not be booking particularly as their nonsense was written into the contract. Bit surprised the agents don't seem to have a word with them.

I found Duncan easy to deal with, but it would be helpful if there was a simpler contract for small venues run on a voluntary basis by people in their spare time. I've always got too much to do, so would rather not have to go through it typing in answers about things I can't provide, such as stage lighting and dressing rooms. Most of the rider obviously applies to big venues.

Lovely to deal with
Lovely to deal with and really want to make shows work for artists and venues. As a non profit community led venue in a diverse community, our budget is small, they understand that and also that we are looking for a wide genre and cultural offer. Sometimes we can’t make things work because of cost but it’s good to know what is out there and show interest for future shows should our circumstances change

Small festival adjustments ?
As a small town centre festival, with a very small tream (me!), a limited budget and limited income (seats and affordability of the public) it is frustrating that I have to ask for an indicative fee each time an artist is sent to me for a possible booking. This wastes a lot of time and emails which I could well do without. Why not allocate a code system to designate a range of fee ? £2k and above, £1 - 2K , < £1k for example. I don't want to lust after that which I cannot afford - i just want an idea if I can afford before I spend time listening to music and watching videos. That said, all the team who I have dealt with, over the last 5 years have been great

Thank you, Alex. We appreciate your feedback and understand your concern. I have considered your suggestion in the past, and it's a good one, the problem is that fees change between time and circumstance, for example, a fee may be more if there's more travel and less if the show ends up next to another, but there are many other factors. We're always happy to quote - but the circumstances will often affect the quote, so we don't quote on the first pitch. Apart from anything else, if we quoted from the outset, we'd end up with fewer shows for the artist - which for our artists is often a priority - I'm sure I could write a book on the subject, but I hope that goes some way to answering your point.
