We just dropped by on our way back from Ashridge and the pub had such a warm, homely atmosphere. The sausage and mash was honestly the best I’ve had so far — full of flavour and perfectly seasoned. As someone with an Asian taste palate, I usually find typical English food a little bland and end up adding extra seasoning, but this was perfect on its own.
And the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely delicious as well. Definitely worth the stop!
We visited The Alford Arms for a Sunday brunch and had such a fantastic experience. We ordered the Sunday roast with beef, sausages, bread, and crème brûlée, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The vegetables were especially fresh and full of flavour, which really stood out.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very comfortable throughout our visit.
Overall, this is the best pub I’ve been to so far in the UK, with truly high-quality food. I would definitely recommend it and will be coming back again!
We went to the Alford Arms for lunch and ordered the pappardelle pasta with goat‘s cheese which was one of two vegetarian options. The plates arrived after a long wait. Disappointingly, the pasta was overcooked and the cheese was creamy but tasteless. The shredded olives scattered on top included a stone - luckily, I didn’t crack my tooth on it. All very poor value at over £18 for a small pasta dish.
