Dr. Thomas Steineke and his staff, Monia and Denise, provided such a friendly and professional experience from start to finish. CNSO was highly recommended to me, and I couldn’t be happier with the service and care I received. Highly recommend!

I would highly recommend Dr. Thomas Steineke. He is a compassionate, knowledgeable, and exceptionally skilled neurosurgeon who relates to his patients. He took the time to not only explain the removal of my brain tumor but also detailed the risks and possible outcomes in terms both my husband and I could understand. He answered all our questions and addressed all our concerns. Spending time with us was never an issue, before or after the surgery.
One thing I would like to share is a comment made by one of the Sloan Kettering oncologists who specializes in brain tumor cancer treatment. After my surgery, to help me decide who would handle my treatment plan, I had multiple assessment meetings. During my meeting with Sloan Kettering, the brain cancer oncologist asked who the surgeon was that removed the tumor (prior to our meeting he reviewed the “before” and “after” MRI’s). I told him Dr. Thomas Steineke at JFK University Medical center in Edison NJ. His exact words were “the neurosurgeon did a phenomenal job”. The fact that he asked and commented on Dr. Steineke’s level of skill is recommendation enough.
He has a great “bed side” manner and is truly dedicated to his profession. Thank you Dr Steineke!
15 years ago (exactly), Tom Steineke saved our 11 month old daughters life. She had an arachnoid cyst in her brain. Her cerebral fluid was not draining properly. It was a terrifying time as parents, but his calm demeanor put us at ease. Also, Dr Steineke advised against the installation of a shunt, which was what the neurologist was recommending at the time. He felt he could perform the surgery successfully without the need of a shunt, saving us countless additional surgeries as our daughter grew. He was right. Our daughter developed perfectly and is thriving today, at almost 16. She plays ice hockey and guitar, and is an incredible artist. We are forever grateful to Dr. Steineke! -The Marscher family.
Dr. Steineke I like to thank you and your skilled hands and vast experience on the neuro surgery performed on my daughter Christina last July. Your preliminary analysis and experience as a Neurosurgeon made this difficult surgery a positive experience that Christina, my wife and I (my whole family) will always be thankful. God bless you and may you continue to provide that excellence experience to your patients. Kudos to your office staff for their professionalism they always showed at our appointments. Thank you so very much!
I am beyond grateful to Dr. Steineke for the extraordinary care he provided during my brain tumor journey. From the very first consultation, he combined deep expertise with compassion and calm confidence — qualities that gave me immense trust and peace of mind in an overwhelming situation.
Dr. Steineke took the time to explain every detail of my diagnosis and surgical plan with clarity and empathy. His surgical precision, skill, and reassuring presence throughout the process made all the difference in my recovery. After my meningioma surgery, I experienced not only excellent medical outcomes but also genuine kindness and humanity from him and his team.
It’s rare to find a surgeon who is both brilliant and deeply compassionate. Dr. Steineke embodies both. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had him as my neurosurgeon — he truly gave me a new lease on life. I recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone seeking the very best in brain and spine care.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Dr. Steineke. He is a wonderful doctor and human being.

He’s a wonderful, humble, knowledgeable, overall a good human being and an excellent surgeon. He answered all my questions over several appts. The first time I met him was the day after I lost my mom and 2 weeks into my diagnosis and I was at a rock bottom place in my life. I had a skull crack and my brain was settling in my nasal cavity. It caused me sezuires for 2 years and a very painful headaches. He worked hand in hand with my neurologist and gave me all the referrals needed to complete over two months to see if the surgery was the right route for me. He never made me feel a question was too shallow or minor. He answered every concern with great explanation and if he used one or two terms I didn’t know I would ask him to explain it. He has the patience of a saint and the knowledge he holds is beyond impressive. He was very honest and kind at every step of the way. I’m now nearing 6 months post op and there’s not a day I don’t thank God for putting Dr. Steineke in my path and for the amazing job he’s done. I told him that my surgery date will forever be celebrated as my second birthday.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt experience. Greatly appreciated.

He operated on my son in 2008 and took out a PNET tumor. My son is over 17 years cancer free because of a wonderful job that he’s done taking out such an aggressive tumor.
De Steineke is definitely a God sent Angel.
I was diagnosed with a tumor of the meninngies, benign. I never had surgery and never had to go under the knife for anything. I was referred to this amazing man. He is so kind, so patient and calm and very knowledgeable. He is a literal genius. I am very grateful to have met him, he put me at ease and he was able to reassure me that I was in terrific hands I was so nervous because surgery is serious and this tumor was already giving me complications, so I had to do the surgery much sooner than planned. He took care of me every step of the way. My mom loves him and I do also. This man is literally an angel from God with genius intellect. He has the hands of God. If you need Neuro consult dealing with tumors and other reach out to him. I guarantee you will be well taken care of. I’m so glad that I was able to meet this man and I’m so glad I decided to stay and stick with him, because hard working people with such dedication like him, is truly hard to find THANK YOU SO MUCH DR. STEINEKE!
Dr. Thomas steineke is one of the best neurosurgeons ever… in 2018 he performed a full craniotomy on me for a pituitary tumor when I met him, I knew I was in good hands. Best surgeon who saved my life by removing my brain tumor and I will forever be thankful and grateful for him. He's a doctor but treats you as if you're his loved one and I'm so appreciative for that. Really changed my life.
If I could give him all the stars in the night sky - I would. Dr. Steineke and his team saved my life and not only did they do a stellar job in saving and treating me, I had an amazing recovery as well. #GOAT
This review is about three years overdue, but I cannot express how wonderful of a surgeon and man Dr. Steineke is. My daughter, at 6 months of age, needed surgery due to her craniosynostosis diagnosis. It was during the peak of COVID and Dr. Steineke went above and beyond to make sure we felt confident and comfortable in everything happening. Not only is he an amazing surgeon, but his bedside manner excellent as well. We are forever thankful for him for taking care of our daughter and us during such an intense time.
