We did a day hike with Antonio followed by lunch. The views were breathtaking, and Antonio's knowledge of the region made the experience much more rich. I highly recommend it, particularly if you are interested in something other than just tasting wine. As a reward after hiking, we had a truly delicious lunch with all local ingredients, including the very best tomatoes. I would love to do it again!

The walking tour with António was amazing. We did a 2 mile loop around the town and terraced vineyards with stunning views of Pinhão and the valley towns beyond. He shared stories and history about the land throughout the walk. It felt like visiting a friend and them sharing all the best parts of their home with you. The meal at the end was delicious with multiple salads, cheese, meats, and bread. Drinking the house wines and homemade lemonade sweetened with house honey and tasting the house olive oil was an especially lovely experience.

We had the most amazing morning hiking with Antonio! We knew our tour was a hike, but what we didn’t expect was to be immersed in daily life in a village in the Douro Valley. We tasted family wine and port, had honey harvested just days ago, tasted the family’s olive oil, and even met the family cat (hi Tina!). If you’re looking for the perfect mix of exercise and authentic experiences, you can’t go wrong.

This was the best part of our trip to the Douro Valley. Sylvia's incredible knowledge and passion about the area really gave us a feel for this part of portugal. We learned and walked about 3 hours. Then had a huge lunch spread with their homemade olive oil, wine, honey and freshly prepared food. Thank you Silvia!

Food and walking tour not to be missed! Wonderful hike around the town with Silvia who is an incredibly knowledgeable guide. LOVED this tour. We were so full after a huge homemade lunch with Sivia and Antonio's honey, wine, lemonade, cheeses and olive oil.

MUST DO TOUR IN DURRO VALLEY!!!!!!!!!!!! This is an extremely underrated tour, i was not expecting how great his was. best money i have spent on a tour in years, it was very private personal we learned so much and were treated like family. just what you want when traveling. Antonio is so great he made it a special experience. i cant wait to bring my friends back to meet him. his family makes and harvests all the items we tasted from their family farm. truly special.

If you want a visit along the Douro Valley wine countryside that is more personalized than the usual bus to winery after winery, then I highly recommend Douro Walks run by Antonio and Sylvia in Pinhao. They will organize exactly what you want to do, pick you up and take you to hike or see petroglyphs or whatever you may like. We had a very nice hike, learned about local agriculture and had lunch provided at their home. A truly wonderful experience.

We chose the wine tour. Antonio and his family (his parents-in-law, wife’s side) are true grape growers. It was very interesting to see his own vineyard, as well as the 2 estates we visited. Feels like we learned a lot during this day. Antonio was also generous with time - even when the tour was supposed to be finished (according to the itinerary), he took us to another viewpoint and also showed his family’s vineyard. His wife Silvia is warm, curious, and welcoming. We had a nice lunch together in their house.

Walking tour in the Douro Valley: nothing could be more personal than exploring it with Antonio! It was a wonderful experience getting to know the terroir, the vineyards, the people, and all the effort that goes into creating one of humanity’s oldest drinks: wine. Antonio also delighted us with an incredible homemade lunch — made completely from scratch, of course — in his beautiful and historic home. Discovering where and how wine is made, with such a personal and familiar touch, was truly a heartwarming experience!

We like seeing popular areas of the world from less popular perspectives. Antonio really accomplished that with our walking tour of the Ervedosa area, high in the hills of the Douro Valley. Super interesting 3.5 mi walk amongst vineyards, orchards, and olive trees. You'll get a great feel for how locals live everyday in this farming community. He told us later he offers multiple different hikes in the area so many people return in later years. He and his wife hosted us for a wonderful lunch at his home, in what feels like a former wine cellar. All local foods plus produce from his family's farm including olive oil, wine and port. Highly recommended especially if you're looking to get in a nice bit of exercise amidst your wine and port tastings.

Amazing local experience into Douro Valley living This was the highlight of our trip! Antonio was so delightful sharing his knowledge of the land, the local traditions, all the uniqueness of the valley. Loved the picnic lunch Sylvia made. Was such an intimate view into their world. Excellent facilitation of a self-guided tour of the Douro Valley Excellent self-guided 4 day hike. The daily hikes were beautiful and physically challenging (but worth it). The countryside is stunning. António thinks of everything. We were provided an app for orienteering (with GPS) as well as a book with detailed direction as a backup. There were options to reduce each day if the hike felt too long (but we didn’t need to shorten our walks), as well as safety options, and relevant phone numbers. Antonio met us for a helpful orientation and drove us to our first hotel. All of our hotels were lovely (and had pools!), and I truly appreciated that they all included breakfast as well as a packed lunch! 2 dinners were included, and one was truly a foodie experience. We stopped at a couple of vineyards we passed through. The Portuguese people we met along the way were lovely and we got to cross paths with other hikers at the hotels as well. Highly recommend for those who want a physical activity for their holiday!

We did a private walking tour with Antonio, starting in Pinhão and hiking up to a fantastic viewpoint of the valley! We learned about the types of growing methods for vines and olives. He shared about other flora and history. The picnic lunch was delicious, and the honey and olive oil in particular wad amazing. Go hike up a mountain with Antoino for a great day!!

My wife and I had a most wonderful guided hike in the Douro Valley near Pinhao for about 3 hours with our guide Antonio. Antonio planned a hike that was perfectly suited for us, and as we hiked he shared engaging information and wonderful teaching. Truly a perfect day. Our guide Antonio was great. We highly recommend Antonio as a guide for a hike.

Wow!! One of our favorite days in Portugal! The host António was so hospitable and knowledgeable! We learned so much about the Douro valley region and agriculture! We took a beautiful hike through the vineyards and he showed us his families vineyard. We tried some fresh fruits and nuts on the hike too! He gave us a tour of his home and gave us the most delicious honeycomb and cookies! Even gave us a honey gift to take home. Then we had port made by his family. Also we dined at this incredible local restaurant and had more wine! Then finished the tour at a nice winery with incredible views!

Antonio was superb!!! This was our second tour with him and the experience was better than the first! Amazing views, amazing tour and experience seeing the Duoro valley from the higher elevations made the experience memorable. António and his wife, Sylvia, are tremendous people and their love for their culture is evident through their knowledge and passion for sharing the Portuguese heritage. Highly recommend doing the lunch. It’s by far the best meal we’ve had on our trips… Can’t wait to visit António again

Choosing Douro Walks and meeting Silvia, Antonio and their family was the highlight of our trip to Portugal. They were so welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They put together two amazing experiences with all transport provided to and from our accommodation. The first was the Farmhouse Cooking Course which was a great introduction to Portuguese food. With the guidance of Silvia, we helped prepare a traditional lunch consisting of food, wine, and port. The food was locally grown and produced, and the wine and port were produced by their family It was fabulous not only tasting this wonderful food, but also learning about the ingredients and their traditional methods of growing and making it. The second experience was the next day with a 15km hike through the hills, vineyard terraces, and olive groves, starting from Sabrosa, a village in the hills, to Pinhao. This was much more than just a hike; it was a fully immersive experience with Antonio leading the way and giving us insights and information about every aspect of the area. We were welcomed by the owner of a local restaurant in Provesende where we had a wonderful traditional lunch with local wine before continuing our hike to finish in Pinhao. These two experiences were exceptional. Antonio and Silvia were just the nicest people and went the extra mile to make us feel special. Maravilhosa caminhada de 15 km no vale do Douro Fizemos a caminhada de 15 km, que foi simplesmente maravilhosa. Você consegue ver tanto enquanto caminha e o guia era excelente e conhecedor. Caminhamos pelas pequenas aldeias, pelas colinas e vales e chegamos a ver tanto. Uma ótima maneira de ver o Vale do Douro. A caminhada requer alguma aptidão e bom para começar cedo quando é mais frio, principalmente descida embora alguns pedaços de montanha. Nós realmente apreciamos o dia.
