First time for any of our dept to be there. Great class. Great instructors. No one acted better than anyone else. Good hands on, one on one if needed. Each pit made you think, sometimes outside the Box. Would love to do a smaller version in athens county Great experience. We will send members each year from now on.
This was anything but your typical vehicle extrication hands-on training. I have participated in many different vehicle extrication courses and training programs over the years, but nothing compared to the complexity, realism, and variety of scenarios we were exposed to during Crash Course Village’s Machine & Vehicle Rescue Extrication Course (MAVREC).
Our original hope was to also become Pro Board certified in three disciplines upon completion of the course: Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician, Heavy Vehicle Rescue Operations, and Machinery Rescue Operations. Unfortunately, the testing that had previously been administered through Crash Course Village’s partnership with Great Oaks Career Campuses - Public Safety Services was no longer available by the time we attended the June 2026 MAVREC.
That being said, the knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills gained during these four days far outweighed the disappointment of not receiving the Pro Board certifications. The scenarios challenge you to think beyond traditional vehicle extrication and expose you to complex rescue situations that most firefighters may rarely, if ever, have the opportunity to train on at their home departments.
I would highly recommend MAVREC and Crash Course Village to any fire department or rescue agency looking to advance the capabilities of its members. If your goal is to send firefighters somewhere that will challenge them, expand their knowledge, and provide meaningful hands-on experience they can bring back to their department, this course is absolutely worth the investment.
Informative class covering vehicle extrication for first responders. I took the 10 pit course. Along with amazing & knowledgeable instructors with years of experience from nearly all walks of life. If they sign up, you'll also be able to work with some firefighters from other countries as well. Doesn't matter if you're a volunteer, part-time, or full-time; the training is the same.
Team building with real-world scenarios. Utilizing many points of view to finish the mission safely & efficiently while also maintaining firefighter & patient safety.
If your department is contemplating whether to take this course, I highly suggest it. It's a lot to learn but more knowledge to add to your arsenal when the tones drop.
They start the weekend with an upbeat attitude & manage to maintain that attitude through the weekend. I look forward to the next chance I get to go.
The Mavrec class offered by Crash Course Village is a great opportunity for first responders to learn a systematic approach to vehicle extrication. The content is relevant, and informative. The instructors are knowledgeable, humble, and genuinely want to educate first responders in appropriate techniques. I highly recommend this class.
This was an amazing course. The instructors were great and the program itself was amazing. The instructors were open to trying any tactic along with the basic skills for extrication. I walked away with greater knowledge for vehicle extrication. Would highly recommend this class.
This class provides decades of experience in 4 days. This is worth it no matter what stage of your career you’re in. The instructors are great. You will get as much tool time as you want.
This was an amazing course. The instructors were top notch and the program itself was amazing. They started at the basics and made sure you had a general understanding of the tools and tactics, and by day 4 you were truly tested on what you had been shown. This a must take course for anyone in the fire service in my opinion.
