Amazing surgeon, awful coordinators and overall experience!
I have to say a massive thank you to my surgeon doctor Zafer, his assistant and the team of nurses at Medaway who are absolutely amazing, my surgery was a success and my results are everything I wished for. Sefa is also brilliant, very grateful to him for his care and kindness. Lastly my massage lady was also amazing. This would be a 5 star review if these were the only people I experienced. The below review does not apply to these people named above.
The 1 star review is solely due to the team that organise things. The prices on their official website are one thing, but when you actually approach them they tell you a higher price and show no regard for the false advertising and are quite rude about it even thought this is actually their error.
One of the coordinators spoke about me in Turkish in front of me, obvious because they were helping to close my breast garment and said ‘implant’ in English in the middle of a sentence in Turkish while looking at my breast (I did not get implants). Whether negative or positive it made me feel uncomfortable and was unprofessional. After paying for private transfers (thinking we would have discretion), 1 day post-op we shared a transfer with 2 strangers, meaning we had to kneel down for the 40 minute car journey. Our procedure required us to spread out for comfort, the pain did not allow us to sit upright and when we addressed this after enduring the discomfort without complaint, they said ‘we tried to help you to sit down but you preferred to kneel down’. Who would choose to kneel down on a car floor unless it was the only option? We are people, the lack of care was disgusting. Sitting upright following the procedures we had with the uneven roads in Istanbul caused extreme pain when we tried to sit how they suggested just to save money and squeeze strangers into ‘private transfers’ together. My transfers at times were also 30 minutes late while I waited outside (in pain) with no communication to say they were running late, no apologies, nothing. No accountability whatsoever.
Less than 24hours post op, Sezer Aras from the WhatsApp group began harassing me to pay £75 for a private transfer back to the airport although I sent my flight date and time 2 months prior! This type of stress is the last thing a patient needs in the first 24hours of their healing period. I also met a lady whose money had been stolen from her purse (a large amount of cash) while she was under anaesthesia!!! This is my 3rd and last surgery with Medaway and I’m so disappointed with my overall Medaway experience this time around, other than my amazing surgeon, his assistant, the lovely nurses, the post op masseuse, the transfer drivers and Sefa. I am now 3 months post op and the coordinators haven’t reached out once, only my surgeon and his lovely assistant. I absolutely recommend dr Zafer 100%, however due to the conduct of the coordinators I will no longer be recommending Medaway to any friends or family and I hope they can improve their services in the future.
