We love the Grey Swan and will continue to stay here every time we go to Blackstone. The building is beautiful and has amazing charm. The common areas in the rooms are always immaculate. I’ve stayed in three different rooms on my stays and all of them have been extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. This B&B is a fantastic value.

What a tremendous weekend we just had staying at the Grey Swan. I was in fact surprised and highly pleased at the accommodations. I am sure "quaint" is an over used term in describing this sort of lodging, but it was the first word that came to mind as we entered. Beautifully restored and renovated with just the right amount of charm, we discovered a place of comfort, relaxation, and rest. Just what we needed. Immediately felt at home as we explored the welcoming front rooms leading into the dining room with its grand table, and then into the well equipped and excellently renovated kitchen area. We found our rooms which were well set up in preparation for our stay and appreciated the well thought out personal touches. (There are swans hidden everywhere!) I had never stayed in a B&B where guests prepared their own breakfast, but the options for cold breakfast items provided (fruit, coffee cakes, bagels, etc.) was quite adequate. There were some eggs and apples in the fridge which one of our group was able to whip up quickly into a wonderful breakfast for us. I felt it added to the experience but is something you should be aware of and prepared for. Because the wedding we were attending was late in the afternoon, we were able to spend some time in Blackstone. Had lunch (brunch, really) at Farmers, and got some fresh coffee and sourdough rolls at the farmers market. Much of the town of Blackstone is a short walk from the Grey Swan. The only caution I would share is that we found the shower in our room a little tight. Again, it wasn't a problem, just something you should be aware of and may want to inquire about when making reservations. One of our group said her shower was much larger. I cannot recommend the Grey Swan Inn to you more highly. Great value, real character, charming upgrades, and a perfectly relaxing accommodation.

Wonderful experience, the Inn has an historic, quaint, cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Wonderful beds! Kitchen well stocked, information transfer was 5-star...Will stay no where else but here when in Blackstone!

I had a wonderful stay at The Grey Swan Inn while I was in the area for scuba diving at Lake Phoenix. The inn is beautiful, and my room was extremely comfortable—such a nice alternative to camping! It’s only about a 30-minute drive to the lake, making it a perfect home base for divers. The continental breakfast had plenty of options, and I really appreciated the complimentary snacks and bottled water. The owner and inn manager were incredibly attentive, checking in to make sure I had everything I needed throughout my stay. If you’re visiting Lake Phoenix or just passing through Blackstone, I highly recommend staying here. It’s a charming inn in a cute town, and I’ll definitely be back!

Very disappointing after reading the reviews. The shower was very cold, the cold breakfast was English Muffins and a container of muffins in the fridge - never saw anyone - I guess someone only shows up to clean the rooms - the front porch swing was covered in spider webs. I asked my wife if there was anything good we could say and she mentioned the following: quiet, peaceful, ceiling fan, a/c in the room, soft bed, close to town with walkable sidewalks. We ran the shower for 5 minutes hoping for at least lukewarm water but nope - a lot of the lights were unplugged, including the lights in our room and the light in the upstairs hall so when we came back it was very dark upstairs. If the shower was at least warm it would have gotten 4 stars.

Second, despite sending multiple automated messages asking guests to let us know if there is anything we can to improve their visit as well as including the personal phone number of the innkeeper, we didn't hear from you once. We could have had someone over there ASAP to investigate the shower issue since that doesn't right and it's the first complaint we're receiving on that matter.

Third, to future guests, please, we are here to provide the best experience possible. If we fall short, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US. We will do our absolute best to make things right as soon as possible! :)

1. We LOVE staying at the Grey Swan Inn. Having spent about a week last December and again this December, we are totally looking forward to coming back in a year! 2. We had to make an unexpected trip to the area due to a family medical emergency, so came back in June. The welcome made us feel at home, and we've decided this warrants our planning at least 2 visits per year instead of just one.

Warm and inviting, immaculate and centrally located. The Grey Swan is my "go to" basecamp for adventure. Short, easy walk into town with unique shops and food. Very artsy community with wonderful local history.

This is the cutest place to stay in a beautiful town. The room was very cute and very clean. It was a tiny room, but I knew it was going to be so no surprises. Check in is self service and very easy. Communication is quick. A great option if you don’t want a chain hotel room.

Absolutely charming Bed & Breakfast! Lovely home with southern charm and Mayberry like central VA location. Lots of great restaurants, all is conveniently located, easy walk for antiquing and dining or you can sit a spell and view the birds in the Magnolia tree from the comfort of the front porch swing. The home is exquisite, very clean, very elegant. Would highly recommend.
