He came back to recheck the chemicals because they were off the first time and then he also had someone come back a few days later to check them again.

I hear so about so many people having issues and hidden costs with their pool builds. But our build went so well and our pool project manager, Josh, was a pleasure to work with. Its obvious that he cares about the quality of his pool builds and was patient with answering the many questions we had for our first pool build throughout the process. We had concerns about our backyard elevation and grading the area around the pool and it turned out great. Our experience with Duplessis Pools is nothing short of horrible. What should have been an exciting $62K+ pool project has become months of delays, poor workmanship, construction mistakes, and constant battles just to get problems corrected.

We have hundreds of timestamped photos and project records documenting what actually happened on this job, from excavation through the deck pour, and we're happy to walk any prospective customer through them on request.
For anyone reading, a few facts of record:
The pool was excavated to the depth on the signed construction plan and signed contract. You signed the scale drawing directly next to the 5' depth callout, and we later sent an updated drawing with the other changes you requested — the depth was unchanged and we received no objection before excavation. When you raised the depth again after gunite, we agreed to correct it as a goodwill accommodation and began the work.
During that correction, you asked us to replace the entire driveway instead. The driveway was cracked and deteriorated well before we started, and our signed contract does not include driveway replacement. We did evaluate street access to avoid the driveway entirely and determined it was not safe for our crew or the equipment; the safety of our employees is not something we compromise on. We offered to replace the driveway in lieu of the depth change if you covered half the cost; that offer was declined. We completed the depth correction as originally agreed and later patched the driveway sections our equipment used.
The pool was built to the codes assigned to our permit by the City of Kenner. You approved the deck forms before the pour and the deck passed its inspection. The expansion-joint question raised afterward involves a code the City had not adopted, and the parish is now determining which code retroactively applies before an engineer can propose a solution. We are not the party holding that determination up.
We were roughly two days from plaster when work stopped for that code question. Waterproofing and plaster are sequenced behind the engineer's determination because concealed remediation, if any is required, must happen before finish work. That is construction sequencing, not retaliation.
On the water usage, our dated site photos show nothing was connected to the spigot when our crew was last on site. Photos from the following week show a hose and net setup added while no Duplessis personnel were on the property. We want to help you get to the bottom of what happened, but the site record does not support the conclusion that our crew left the valve on.
Every payment reminder was tied to a contract milestone for work already completed and accepted. We regret if any of that communication came across as harassment.
We know this doesn't change your experience, and we're not going to relitigate the project in public. The engineer's report and the parish's written code determination will drive the remaining work, and we remain committed to finishing your pool to a standard we can both stand behind.

Taylor, our project manager made sure our pool building process was smooth throughout. Derek and Taylor made sure we were satisfied at each stage. Any issue (and there were only few minor concerns ) was promptly addressed. Duplessis accommodated our need to delay the final cleanup for us to complete a separate yard project. In the end we are 100% satisfied. I have no desire to go away on vacation when my backyard is all the getaway I need.

As with any big project, there will be bumps in the road. It's not whether there will be bumps - it is how it is handled. In the end, our pool project is everything we'd have hoped for, and more. Taylor, our PM, was incredibly professional and communicative. He kept the project moving along and kept us up to date. Our Southeast Louisiana residence now has a wonderful gunite, customized pool includes a hot tub, interior side bench, 3 fountains, heater, chiller, and tanning ledge with bubblers.
Thank you for putting it that way — you're exactly right, it's how the bumps get handled that separates a good build from a great one. Our project manager was one of a kind. Couldn’t have been happier with his willingness to make things work for us. We out a large request on him to have the pool ready for the 4th of July and he came out on the 3rd to do the start up for us…after 6:00pm that evening!
He worked to address everything that was within his authority to address and put himself out when it couldn’t be addressed by the company itself. Taylor has come out multiple times to address some small items including a position of the pool pump controls. It was refreshing to deal with a project manager that didn’t just delegate, but took the initiative to handle it himself. We walked away with a pool and a friend.
