We had a three week private tour of Sicily organized by Ciao and it was marvelous. The hotels were very well located and interesting. The tours were great and we had a wonderful variety of experiences. We had a driver for three weeks and he was terrific and so accommodating. This is our 5th trip organized by Ciao and I wouldn't do it any other way. Thank you so much for taking away all the stress of travel so that we could focus on seeing and learning about the culture and country. I have no hesitation in recommending their services. We could not have been happier with Ciao Tours. From the moment we contacted Ciao Tours they were more than helpful. Nothing was a problem for Sara and Fazzim. They organised us from when we got off our cruise in Trieste where we were met n Venice by Matteas who took us on the water ferry straight to The Kette Hotel (which was wonderful) The next day he met us again in the hotel and took us to the train station and pointed us in the right direction, no stress at all! Our tour from Venice, to Florence, was by train where we were met by Hassam and taken to our hotel, (which was only around the corner from the train station) then there was a walking tour of Florence with details on how to find the meeting point. The next day a private driver Sam took us to Sienna stopping at San Gimignano for 3 hours (perfect). 3 days in Sienna at Hotel Palazzo Ravizza. Day 2 we had an organised Cooking Class with Franchesco and Julie the translator. Day 3 a day trip to Pienza and Montepulciano with Giovanni, where we had a beautiful lunch at a farm/winery in the countryside, overlooking Val d'Orcia. Our accommodation was top notch everywhere. We especially loved Venice and Sienna hotels. We were met by someone (all very professional) at every change point and never at any time had to worry about anything. We had plenty of time to roam on our own as well. On day 4 we travelled by bus to Rome, to save time going back to Florence. The bus was very comfortable and we found it no problem at the train station in Sienna. A comfortable 2 hour trip and we were met by Dianna who took us to our hotel. She then collected us later along with Thomas our guide for the Colosseum. He was wonderful, a wealth of knowledge. We walked back to our hotel, and found a nice restaurant on the Tibar River over the Ponte Sisto. The next day Dianna collected us again and took us to the Vatican where we met Thomas for our final tour, it was wonderful and very extensive. That night Ciao Tours had organised a restaurant for us to have dinner, it was just around the corner and very special. the food was amazing. A perfect end to our 8 day trip in Italy. I have to say a shut out to Didi Nota, our resident in Sienna. She kept tabs on us at every point of our trip to make sure everything was going well. We met up with her in Sienna at the Piazza del Campo for coffee which was lovely. Can not recommend Ciao Tours more highly. Will use them again for sure. David and Lee Sheridan Australia

Prior to taking a Provencal river cruise this spring, we decided to extend it with a short trip to a bucket list destination of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Problem: other than a package to Venice, we had not visited Italy before and were apprehensive about the potential pitfalls of the highly touristy areas of Rome and Naples that surrounded our target area. A friend recommended speaking to Ciao, which as one might infer from the name, specializes in bespoke trips there. A quote on a four-night, archeology-centric trip from Rome to Lyon by rail initially made my eyes water. This, I suspect, was because I am used to planning my own tours in my own language, where the cost is an additive process (hotel+transport+meals) because I know and trust the area. Once I drilled down to the many nice additions that were included, such as a private car from Naples to Pompeii, private archeology tours through both volcanic digs and a lunch at a winery on Mt. Vesuvius, I began to appreciate that the proposal had elevated the tour considerably, and in ways that couldn’t factored into normal budgeting. This became more apparent in practice. Although the hotels had been (ostensibly) dialed back in the budget, they were amazing. Location and elegance were evident – particularly the one in Rome, which we will seek out again in the future. The communication in each locale from our designated service agent to ensure we were happy with the rooms was reassuring as well. Observations regarding budgeting time, to ensure leisurely rail travel, were most useful too. Communication was polite and friendly throughout. In short, while definitely not inexpensive, our tour had us punching above our weight to ensure a memorable and unique snapshot of Italy. Ciao was a happy discovery that we will use again the next time we are going to Italy.

My husband and I had one of the best travel experiences of our lives recently in Italy, and Ciao Tours made it happen. They made it so easy to work with them, and their 28 years of experience in the business meant we knew we could count on their recommendations. The process started of with our Custom Tour Designer, Joanna, crafting an excellent tour package proposal based on our interests and budget. Joanna and everyone at Ciao in the Calgary office were very accessible and communicative, answering every question we had. They also provided a list of useful tips to make the most of our trip (about clothing, tipping, Italian way of life.) Claudia was then our on-the-ground tour contact in Italy and was in touch with us daily, providing tour tickets (electronic) and letting us know where to meet our drivers for the various tours. It was very reassuring to know that if we were to have any issues, someone locally-based could help us. (Thankfully there were no issues and everything went smoothly.) An overview of our trip: - Started in Rome with a private guided tour of the Colosseum and Ancient Rome - Took the train to Florence, a spectactular city where we enjoyed: - full day private guided wine/food tour of two wineries in the Chianti area - four-hour private guided tour of iconic landmarks in Florence - four-hour "skip the line" small group tour of two museums to see the works of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael (and many others) - unguided day trip to the beautiful town of Siena. We then took the train to the seaside town Monterosso al Mare in Cinque Terre, where we were treated to a private guided cycling tour (a highlight of the trip), a few days of unguided exploring, and an excellent private wine/food tour in the town of Rapallo. Finally, we boarded the train back to Rome for an overnight stay before heading back to Canada. We were so impressed with all that Ciao Tours provided: from private transfers to and from airports, train stations and hotels to guided tours with professional, friendly, knowledgeable guides in clean, comfortable vehicles (all were Mercedes) to the very best hotels in convenient and interesting locations. Every detail was attended to by Ciao. We rate them 5 stars, highly recommend Ciao and will definitely book with them again. Thank you to the planning team and all the guides and drivers at Ciao - you made our trip absolutely outstanding.

Ciao Tours planned a 3 week trip to Italy for my husband and I and we had an amazing trip! It was so relaxing knowing that our drivers, tours, transportation and guides were all booked and reconfirmed on a daily basis, so all we had to do was to enjoy each day, which is exactly what we did!! We had a car rental for 4 days and were given great driving directions to sites/tours and even to where we could park in the various towns we visited. The drivers were very professional, the tour guides were very knowledgeable and we had great accommodations. They did not disappoint, our trip to a wedding venue south of Florence with perfect! Attention to detail is one of the things they specialize in, from plane, train tickets to arranging the private drivers. This part ran flawlessly! Our transfer to the Amalfi Coast was easy by train and private car. The hotels they booked were both picture perfect, located on cliffs overlooking the coast. Their recommendations for restaurants were wonderful as were several hikes, especially Pathway of the Gods near Positano. Their recommendations for the last few days in Rome were fabulous putting into a suite in downtown Rome within walking distance of the Vatican, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and more. This is my 2nd trip with Ciao Tours curating the itinerary. Their attention to detail and my interests is what brought me back to them to do the 2nd Italy trip. The itinerary was specifically geared to our interests as well as our limitations (walking). We always felt well taken care of from the moment we landed in Venice to when we left from Rome. Ciao Tours assisted us in planning an 11 day trip to Bologna, Italy and we could not not have been more happy with their service. They listened to what our "wants" were for the trip and turned that into an itinerary that we were extremely pleased with. From the tour guides they set up for us to the personal driver and to having Didi as an in country resource who checked in with us every day - our expectations were not only met but exceeded! Ciao Tours did an exceptional job booking our dream trip to Italy. They listened to all our wishes and planned a seamless trip with many destinations. We loved the private cooking class is Tuscany. Our favorite was the Amalfi coast. I would use Ciao Tours again and highly recommend them.
