Outstanding first stop on our NYC weekend. Razor clams, an unreal sea urchin dish over a crispy potato cake, and a perfectly cooked steak with beef-fat fries that puts most steakhouses to shame — every plate was creative and executed flawlessly. Chocolate tart and a honey sundae to finish, with a killer natural wine list. Service was impeccable and chef-owner Jeremiah Stone is a perfect host. One of the best meals I've had in years. Don't walk to the Lower East Side — run.
We had such high hopes for Wildair but it was so disappointing. While some of the dishes were decent, none were mind blowing. The razor clams were spoiled and everything after that course felt impossible to enjoy. Staff was eating dinner in a very visible spot in the front of the restaurant and for this price point I hope management addresses this and has them go to a more private area to do this in the future or wait until after dinner service has ended.

Went here after going to their sister bar contra and had a lovely time, the servers are really friendly and great at explaining the dishes. Loved the pork and beans and the mango dessert.

What an absolutely horrendous experience. At this price point, small plates need to deliver incredible flavor to be justified, but the food fell completely flat. Coupling slow, inattentive service with an automatic 13.5% gratuity is just absurd. The menu relies on overly vague dish names to feign uniqueness, and unfortunately, asking the waitstaff for a basic explanation only results in an attitude.
I honestly don’t know what this place does to justify either the prices or the attitude—both were disappointing.
The servers act as if they’re doing you a favor when you ask what menu items actually are. Many of the dishes seem intentionally given obscure, pretentious names, yet asking for clarification is met with attitude.
To make matters worse, a fixed gratuity is automatically added, so there’s no way to express your dissatisfaction through tipping.
As for the food, it’s mediocre at best. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a small-portion, Michelin-inspired experience with premium pricing, but the flavors simply don’t deliver. You’re left paying fine-dining prices for food that is, at best, forgettable.
