Yesterday was our first visit to Wasdale Head Inn for food. The Ritssons Bar food choice was good but it was spoilt by a pool of water at the botton of my Chilli bowl. I guess that they defrosted the chilli but did not drain the excess liquid. The food was nicely presented with Nacho's, Guacamole and soured cream. I ordered mine with chunky chips but as I say, the chips at the bottom of the bowl were swimming in water.

Brilliant pub with an interesting selection of cask and keg beers, lovely, hearty food and a welcoming, buzzing atmosphere. The perfect end to a day of walking the local hills.

We loved it ☺We stayed in one of the apartments, it had all the essentials and space and we enjoyed it. We had tea on the evening in the pub as well as breakfast and the food was superb. Great atmosphere in the pub on the evening with many like minded people. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and will be returning to do more of the surrounding mountains. ☹The only thing we would change is we though the apartment we stayed in was dated. Everything else, superb

A fantastic location. Jaw dropping scenery. Go outside in the evening and listen to the almost silence (broken only by the rush of water, the odd sheep and owl). Amazing dark sky location (though they don't seem to publicise it). Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Good food in the bar. We both had steak + ale pie that looked homemade. Plenty of meat in it. Came with a good variety of veg and chips. I would recommend getting to the bar early if you want to eat or you might have to sit outside. Think people tend to keep their tables after they've eaten.

Stayed at the campsite for several nights, September 2025 it's very cheap. Given a code for shower facilities, also given access to drying room in the hotel. I ate and drank in the walkers bar, meals weere decent, beers include an oatmeal stout. Staff very friendly, allowed me to charge power bank behind the bar. Location is stunning England's smallest parish church , tallest mountain ,deepest lake. Saw nirthern lights there 10 th May 2024.

Love Wasdale head, popular location. Accommodate up. Don’t have to try too hard and they don’t ☺Fab location. Room clean and relatively spacious ☹Food was generally average. Evening meal okay but over priced. Breakfast was poor - avocado was supermarket mush, bacon dry and over cooked

Excellent smaller campsite for tents only. Used the campsite run by the Wasdale Head Inn. It is located opposite the Inn and it is first come first serve and no prebooking. Pay you fees in the reception. It is not a huge site but enough to squeeze in at least twenty tents. No big caravans or motorhomes fortunately. The pub is excellent with good food. There is also a proper restaurant if you want something more fancy. I recommend the bacon bap in the morning. It is a good base to explore the valley.

Exceptional Stay at The Wasdale Inn We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our National Three Peaks Challenge. From the moment we booked, the team at The Wasdale Inn went above and beyond to help us. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their customer service was genuinely outstanding. After being delayed on Ben Nevis, we arrived much later than planned, but the team kindly accommodated our late check-in and made the whole process completely stress-free. That extra support meant so much after a long and exhausting day on the mountain. The rooms were spotlessly clean, spacious, and full of quirky character, giving the inn a real charm and personality. It felt welcoming, comfortable, and exactly what we needed to recharge. Special mention must also go to the breakfast. It was hearty, fresh, and exactly the fuel our team needed before setting out on Day 2 and tackling Scafell Pike as part of the Three Peaks Challenge. A huge thank you to everyone at The Wasdale Inn for making our stay so memorable. Your hospitality, flexibility, and genuine care for your guests made a challenging weekend that bit easier. We would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back next year for our annual 3 peaks charity fundraiser!

We camped so the three stars are for the basic camping facilities. One shower meant a bit of a queue when we were there. Plenty of parking, plenty of space, a nice little Shop and outdoor tables. They even have a heated outdoor area. Every single member of staff - pub and hotel reception - was lovely, charming and generally a delight to speak to. The pub had a great bustling atmosphere and the food was good - the steak and ale pie was delicious. Our only negative was the abysmal sausage sandwiches provided for campers. It’s great you can get a hot butty before you head out but for £5 you got one and a half anaemic sausages on a very cheap mass produced barm. I’d never order one of these again which is a shame as we were really looking foward to them as a treat.

Ideal place for walking Wasdale. ☺Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, great evening meals with a good choice. Loved the old style seating in the restaurant. Perfect location for heading out and about hiking. Great room size. Room 8. ☹No plug in sink, could do with a bath slip mat. One bed was wobbly so creeked loudly when you turned over. The rooms do look tired, tv small for the room size.
