Uist Forest Retreat Reviews

What a magical place! We had a wonderful week at Uist Forest Retreat. The location is stunning and our cabin, Owl, had everything we needed, including the view. Kathryn and Angus were wonderful hosts, they were responsive when we needed and nothing was too much trouble. The cabins are in the best spot to explore North Uist, we walked, kayaked, explored! And the wildlife is extra-ordinary, we saw eagles, owls, hen harriers, cuckoos, goldcrests, lapwings to name a few!

Stunning accommodation in a tranquil location immersed in nature. We saw a red Stag twice from the treehouse (fitting as we stayed in Damh!) and so many varieties of birds. The accommodation is high spec and an amazing space to kick back and just be. We also saw the Northern Lights right above us from the balcony. The area itself is amazing. So many beaches, walks and wonder around every corner. From Deer to Eagles, Owls, Dolphins and so much more. Get out there, whatever the weather! Kathryn and Angus were fantastic hosts; providing great advice plus not intrusive at all. A great balance of knowing they’re there if needed while giving time and space to relax and unwind. A truly memorable, wonderful experience.

Wow, what can I say - Kathryn and Angus are in all honesty the best hosts we have ever had in our 20 years of travelling across the UK with our dogs. From the very first email contact they were super helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The pre-arrival guide was really detailed and the walk recommendations were excellent - the memories of which will stay with us forever. We certainly left our hearts in North Uist! As we stayed over new year, we were even sent a festive guide on the local businesses that would be open, with useful info and opening hours. The location is stunning - we took a couple of books to read each but didn't read them as we just couldn't stop staring out of the window at the view! The bath was a luxurious treat and I made use of it every day - again the view was something dreams are made of! Angus and Kathryn checked in via WhatsApp several times to ensure we were happy & to see if there was anything they could do to help - e.g. more logs. We we treated more like friends than tourists. The night sky was the best we have ever seen - so unbelievable it made me well up with tears of joy. We saw the milky way and shooting stars. The bed was super comfy, the log burner cosy and the whole place was spotless and they even decorated one of the fir trees outside with lights for a festive feel. The forest is simply stunning, as are the local beaches. A couple of months on and we are already planning our return visit. Thank you Kathryn & Angus for a magical stay :-)

I can‘t explain how beautiful this place is. The hosts are the most friendly and helpful & the cottages are one of the most amazing things we‘ve ever seen. No words to describe it, you simply have to go there and see for yourself.

Me and My Partner had an amazing time at the Uist forest retreat. The accommodation is beautifully built that provides a fantastic view. Waking up to deer in the morning after our first night stay was a pleasant surprise. Kathryn and Angus are great anything you need they will quickly sort out for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the treehouse which was spacious, beautifully decorated and had all you could need during your stay. The remote setting high up amongst the trees instantly creates a calming, relaxing atmosphere - we didn’t want to leave. We woke on a still November morning to a high tide and had a deer pass by as we enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony. A very special place indeed! Thank you
