This was our first time with Overland adventures but we have enjoyed it massively. The car was great - it was a pleasure to drive and all the gear you think you might need was included. The tent was lovely to sleep in on the roof, and we have enjoyed the personalised route we received. If you are looking for the best combination between a roadtrip and enjoying nature, while looking for some comfort I would recommend them. The service was amazing and they were amazing people.

The perfect way to experience the Northumberland wilderness My fiancé and I feel like we have just had the best holiday of our lives, and I am smiling all the way through writing this review. With sun and rain, we had a bit of everything, but we had the best fun at every moment — thanks to Darren, Tracey and Overland Adventures. We rented a Land Rover Defender 110 with a roof tent and side awning from Overland Adventures, and honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we collected the vehicle, it was obvious that Darren and Tracey had thought of absolutely everything. This wasn't just a Land Rover rental — it was a fully equipped adventure setup that allowed us to head straight into the Northumberland countryside and properly switch off. The Defender itself was fantastic. Capable, comfortable and exactly what we needed for the wild camping spots we had booked. Having the roof tent and side awning meant we could arrive at any campsite or "Wild With Consent" field, find our perfect spot, set up quickly and be enjoying the landscape almost immediately. It gave us the freedom to explore places that simply wouldn't have been practical in an ordinary car. Everything felt carefully considered. We were completely self-sufficient during our trip, cooking outdoors, sleeping under the stars and camping in some genuinely spectacular and private locations. The Defender was equally at home on the roads as it was on the rougher tracks and access roads leading to the campsites. But what really makes Overland Adventures stand out is Darren and Tracey themselves. They were fantastic from start to finish — friendly, knowledgeable, incredibly helpful and clearly passionate about what they do. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and we felt completely confident heading off with the vehicle and equipment. I was initially apprehensive about driving a manual again after not having driven one for some time, but Darren took me out for a little driving lesson before we set off, which gave me all the confidence I needed. That small gesture really summed up the whole experience — they genuinely wanted us to have a great trip, rather than simply handing over the keys. We explored some amazing wild camping sites, including Low Trewhitt River Valley, which was beautiful and even had a lovely spot for a swim, and Scotchcoulthard Farm, where we had incredible views across the Northumberland countryside. Having the Defender made the whole experience possible; it genuinely felt like having our own expedition vehicle for the week, capable of taking us almost anywhere we wanted to go. For anyone considering wild camping or exploring the North East, I honestly couldn't recommend Overland Adventures highly enough. Don't just think of it as hiring a vehicle — you're hiring the ability to have an adventure in a fully equipped expedition tool. Combine that with "Wild With Consent" and you can easily plan an amazing "Northumberland 250" trip or a completely bespoke adventure, with Darren's help if you need it. We absolutely loved it and will no doubt be renting from Darren and Tracey again — most likely year after year. We're already thinking about bringing friends along too and trying the double roof tent option. And when you compare the cost with buying, equipping, running, maintaining and inevitably repairing your own Defender or Discovery, this really is a no-brainer. You get an incredibly capable vehicle, all the equipment you need, and the freedom to explore without having to own and maintain the whole setup yourself. A massive thank you to Darren and Tracey for making the whole experience so easy, comfortable and memorable. We genuinely couldn't have wished for a better introduction to this kind of adventure. 5/5 without hesitation. Absolutely brilliant.

Just got back from an amazing camping trip around Northumberland with the Land Rover and TentBox, and what an experience it was. The weather was absolutely perfect from start to finish, which made exploring even more enjoyable. Every place we visited had its own charm, and the scenery was simply stunning. From the coastline to the countryside, the views just seemed to get better and better. Waking up each morning surrounded by such beautiful landscapes was something special, and spending the evenings relaxing outside after a day of exploring made the whole trip one to remember. It was the perfect break from everyday life. A big thank you as well to Darren and Tracey from Overland Adventures for their brilliant service from start to finish. They were friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience easy from the moment we booked right through to returning the Land Rover. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. It's a fantastic way to get out and explore, and Northumberland completely exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be doing it again.

We’d highly recommend Overland Adventures! We hired one of their Land Rovers for a camping trip around the Scottish Highlands, and it ended up being one of the best holidays we’ve had. From the moment we picked it up, everything was straightforward. The team were really friendly, took the time to explain everything, and made sure we felt confident before setting off. The Land Rover was really well equipped, comfortable, and had everything we needed for an amazing few days exploring. Having the freedom to find our own camping spots, wake up to incredible views, and take the trip at our own pace made it such a memorable experience. Best of all, the rooftop tent was more than a match for the Scottish midges—they stayed firmly on the outside! A huge thanks to the team on helping to create an amazing experience.

WHAT AN ADVENTURE!! We loved our time as a family of four exploring Scotland with Overland Adventures. An unrivalled set up with two roof tents making it an easy, exciting and very comfortable trip for our 5yo and 8yo. Darren and Tracey provided exceptional service and we’ve recommended them to so many of our friends. As for Scotland, just wow! Blessed by the weather and nature: expansive beaches, whales, highland cows, stunning scenery, and many a meal by sunset. Now to plan our next escape with them.

Amazing company! Darren and Tracey are amazong and will do anything to accomodate you and help plan your trip. Their rentals are equipped with absolute premium gear and every little detail was thought of. You can see they are passionate about 4x4 camping and their service really shows.

My Dad and two brothers hired the land rover defender with x2 two person tents and did a 250 mile circular tour of Northumberland over 3 days. The vehicle is great fun to drive, extremely well equipped and more importantly the tents were simple to setup and comfortable. Tracy met us at the airport for both collection and drop off which was very convenient. A beautiful part of the country to visit and such a professional and straightforward company to deal with. Great value and would highly recommend Overland Adventures!

The organisation is superb, easy to work with and responsive to requests for help with route planning, general advice etc. Vehicle well presented and very well equipped, you only need take yourselves! Videos sent beforehand on how to erect the roof tents and also how to put them down. It does require some careful and organised work together with height and flexibility! I took my three sons to do this. Recommend Wildertrips for route planning, we were well received at the campsites we booked, some inquisitive campers enjoyed seeing the end result.

Just got home after a 3 day trip around the N250 with my dad and brothers. We hired the two tent Land Rover defender from Overland Adventures and couldn’t have asked for a better Vehicle and service from Tracey. The landrover was clean, delivered at the airport when we arrived and had so many top class accessories included. We couldn’t have wanted for anything else. The kitchen equipment was brand new as was the firepit and cooker, all premium products. Loads of Yeti branded equipment included as well as all the essentials (tea, coffee, spices,oils etc..) a real premium experience for anyone looking for a fully stocked, top class trip on either the N250 or the N500. Top company, Quality product and great people. Thanks for a great holiday. I’ll definitely be back for a trip with my wife and children.

I booked my partner an adventure through Overland Adventure's as a little treat, because he's had a dream to do it since he was a small boy, so we made that dream come true! We hired a Defender 110 with an EPIC Howling moon (south african made - partner is a saffa so ~brownie points, also bomb-proof) roof tent on top, from Tracey & Darren. From the get-go I knew we had made the correct decision. The knowledge, customer service and personal touch are just perfection, honestly could not ask for more. We had communication all the way through from booking our adventure, to letting us know our security deposit had been safely returned. We had advice on routes to take, campsites to stay in, video's on how to open the tent and pack it all away.....honestly all around one of my favourite experiences thus far (and I'm almost 40 ssshhhh). It wouldn't be a proper review without mentioning that we adventured to the Lake District during Storm Dave over Easter weekend...not for the faint hearted let me tell you, BUT we survived to tell the tale and were gently rocked to sleep in the roof tent throughout 55km winds. We will 100% not hesitate to book another adventure, maybe the west coast of Scotland next time. Another thing to mention is that ~ when they tell you that you only need to pack your clothes, they're really not lying. There is everything you will need stored away neatly in this beautiful beast! If you've got this far and you're still on the fence, just do it, life's too short and you won't regret it...

Had a once-in-a-lifetime experience w/ Overland Adventure team. Darren and Tracey are responsive, respectful and remain in constant contact beginning to end to coordinate the vehicle pickup and dropoff seamlessly at destination of your choosing from their list. The vehicle is well-maintained and has all the charm of the a Defender 110 classic, because it is a true Defender 110, not one of those heavily modified vehicle that are only a shell of their former self. It is rough, its slow, its as mechanical as it can get, and its beautiful like a fine-aged wine - pardon me, I meant to say a well-aged scotch whiskey! There is no non-sense, no fuss; no 50" touchscreen on center-console, no massaging chairs, no lane departure warning, no coffee reminder, no self-parking, not even a backup camera! But that's exactly the point, and the only way a Defender was meant to be, rugged and elegant. If you've been thinking about it, I highly recommend you book journey w/ Overland Adventure, you will make memories for life.

We had an amazing adventure.. Massive thanks to Darren and Tracy who were brilliant to deal with from start to finish... For two people (and our Sprocker Spaniel) who had never camped and I mean.. never, we chose the windiest and wettest day of the year to start to our trip... however we could never had imagined how much fun it would be. Our Landy was superb and fully kitted out with top quality equipment. Darrens videos on how to set up camp were a godsend the first night as it was dark, with high winds and driving rain, we even impressed ourselves ! Celebrating with a box of wine to help us sleep ;-). The next day the sun came out and we were off visiting some very rural & wild sites away from it all, except for one night half way, where we stayed at Kielder for a nice hot shower, which was just what we wanted, giving us that feeling of being on a real adventure. We can't speak highly enough of our Landy adventure and especially dealing with Darren & Tracey who made it so easy with all of their help and info. We are still telling everyone who will listen and look at our photos how good it was... Thank you Overland Adventures you are awesome ! Keep up the great work.
