My name is Michael Djavid from Michigan, USA. I traveled to the beautiful country of Turkey, specifically the busy city of Istanbul, to undergo dental treatment and an intelligent lens eye operation. Traveling more than 11 hours to a foreign country for medical procedures can be stressful, especially when everything is unfamiliar.
During my visit, I had the privilege of meeting my medical translator, MehmedCan Tasci, and I cannot say enough good things about him.
On the early morning of April 9, 2026, MehmedCan personally picked me up from my hotel and accompanied me to the eye clinic for a full examination. Afterward, he transferred me to the hospital where my surgery was scheduled later that afternoon. From the beginning to the end of the day, he and the driver stayed by my side without leaving me alone even once.
MehmedCan went far beyond the responsibilities of a translator. He handled communication with doctors, assisted with every hospital step, went to the pharmacy himself to purchase all of my medications, and made sure I fully understood every part of my treatment.
After hours of examinations, blood work, X-rays, and doctor visits, I was taken to surgery around 7 PM. I told him he should go home because he had already been with me for nearly 11 hours. However, when I woke up from surgery at around 11 PM, I was amazed to see that MehmedCan and the driver were still there waiting for me. That level of dedication truly touched me.
He once told me, “Do not worry, I will be with you every step of the way,” and he honored those words 100%.
MehmedCan is kind, gentle, professional, and deeply committed to the patients he assists. Even after I left Istanbul on April 10, 2026, he continued to check on me. To this day, we have exchanged many messages and voice calls, and he remains available whenever I need guidance or support.
He is not only an outstanding medical translator but also an exceptional human being with strong values and genuine care for people. He represents Turkey with professionalism, warmth, and integrity.
