Sonakanda Fort is a fascinating old fortress that still carries the charm of Mughal-era architecture. The thick walls, narrow passages and the elevated viewpoints give a real sense of how the fort once protected the river routes. The location near the Shitalakshya River adds to the peaceful atmosphere, especially in the morning or late afternoon.
The fort area is generally clean and open enough for visitors to walk around comfortably. Some parts of the structure are worn due to age, but that also adds to the historical feel. It would be great if there were a few more information boards to explain the history and purpose of different sections.
Overall, it’s a very nice spot for history lovers and a good place to explore if you’re visiting Narayanganj Bandar. Quiet, scenic, and full of heritage.
