Light surface scratches on hollow metal frames and doors are not unusual. These frames and doors are shipped with a primer coat only - not a finished top coat - which is the industry standard across commercial hollow metal manufacturers. In addition, the frames and doors are galvanized, providing an added layer of corrosion protection beneath the primer.

As part of the normal finishing process, frames and doors are typically lightly sanded, touched up with primer where needed, and then finish-painted in the field. Minor surface marks are expected and are normally addressed during this final painting stage.

Because hollow metal frames and doors are heavy commercial products that are transported to job sites, handled during installation, and used by multiple trades throughout construction, it is very common for light scratches or scuffs to occur. The advantage of these products is that they are designed to be easily sanded and touched up prior to final paint, allowing them to achieve a clean finished appearance once the project is complete.
