As a patient of Dr. Raman, I have received compassionate and expert medical care. I appreciate the time she takes to explain any concerns and provides excellent suggestions for improving my health. Dr. Raman's medical team (Jennifer, Ashley, Gaby) is welcoming and professional every time I visit the office.

This has been the best experience I have ever had, the service is amazing. Jennifer goes above and beyond to help in every situation and most importantly is never judgmental. I would highly recommend Avista to anyone.

Will likely be switching offices. Went in a week ago for an issue I have been dealing with for 2 months. No sense of urgency or attention to detail. They couldn't draw my blood there so I had to go to a lab. Haven't interpreted my bloodwork to let me know what was found although I received the results from the lab last week. It has been 1 week of me calling my pharmacist, my insurance company and Avista trying to get my prescription filled. No progress. How lovely.

Dear Ms. Goding, I am sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience during your recent visit to our office about the issue you have been dealing with long before. I understand that you were sent to the lab to have your blood drawn, instead of having it done in the office. Our staff is trained and experienced to make the best decision for patients based on their unique circumstances. In your case, they determined that sending you to the lab was the best course of action. We had instructed you to inform the office when the procedure was completed, so we could schedule a follow-up appointment and interpretation of the results. Unfortunately, we were not informed when your blood draw was completed, which led to a delay in scheduling your appointment and interpreting your results. It appears you forgot to contact the office as instructed. Regarding the issue with your prescription, it appears that there was a mix-up because you used one form of insurance for your office visit and another at the pharmacy. The insurance used for your office visit did not require authorization for your prescription, whereas the insurance you used at your pharmacy did require authorization. It is very possible that this error led to your confusion and frustration and why progress was delayed. Sincerely, Chad Gammage/GM

Update 11/8/22: from their response I guess spending money for a non communicative doctor that expected me to just know about diabetes is not up to my own expectations of a doctor. Found a doctor that actually listens and communicates. Oh and 3 months later I'm reversing my diabetes with no prescription drugs. I started in August with a A1C of 8.7 and as of yesterday my A1C is 6.8. Funny the doctor here said I wouldn't be able to control my diabetes without a prescription. I guess she didn't mean reversing it. Go to this facility if you want to waste your time and money with not being communicated to or listened to. For the most part the staff and Dr Ramen are somewhat friendly. I went in thinking I was having hormone issues and I was told I have diabetes. Dr Ramen prescribed me new medication. I informed of my trust issues with prescription drugs, with preference of natural supplements and she asked me if I knew anything else. I told her I'd have to research. Upon leaving I was given literature on diabetes(and a story about how people with diabetes can lose a toe) but there was no detailed conversation about blood sugar levels, where I need to be at etc. Maybe they just assumed I've been diagnosed before which I hadn't. I did, do watch my blood sugar and changed my diet completely since that visit. My 1 month follow up I was excited as I had seen some changes but wasn't expecting a overnight success. This visit was a terrible experience. The person that took me into the room and the Dr Ramen made it seem like I wasn't taking it seriously and I made no changes. Dr Ramen talked to me like we had a detailed conversation before about blood sugar levels. Which we had not. I know I wasn't expecting instant results, it was sad I had to remind the doctor of that. Finally she told me we wouldn't see any real results for 3 months. If that was the case, why did you waste my time and money on this 1 month follow up? I thought this doctor's office was different but I was wrong. I guess this office that specializes in weight loss is more for people that want scared straight or touch love not a supportive encouraging environment.

Hello Lu - I'm sorry to hear we couldn't meet your healthcare expectations. I'm also sorry to learn about your lab results, as diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that, over time, can cause serious health problems. As for Dr. Raman's prescribing you medication, she followed the guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for treating diabetes. You can learn more on the CDC website by going to https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/basics/diabetes.html. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance. - Regards, Chad Gammage/General Manager

Great experience Between COVID and a knee replacement, I put on weight that was not healthy for me. I went to Dr. Raman and her team for help and received the direction and encouragement to get rid of the weight. The Avista team was friendly, extremely helpful and I would highly recommend them.

Very Happy with the Care we Receive. The Staff and Brian the PA Is Always Very interested with our Care. We Like that we can get our blood work done during our visits. Juan and Jean Salcido
Had to find a new Dr. Had an appointment for a physical before a scheduled surgery arrived and paid my Co-pay was told I owed 40 dollars additional from a previous visit. I asked for what and he said he didn't know so I asked what the date was? and he said he didn't know, and I said when he finds out I will pay it. He then said I can't get my physical until I pay it, I told him I have no problem paying it if he can tell me what I'm paying for. He couldn't so I left and found a new Dr.

Gordon, I wanted to get to the bottom of this and hit a roadblock. I've searched my database for "Gordon" (first and last) and cannot confirm your review. The last "Gordon" to visit was in March this year and for a different type of visit. Leading me to believe you left a comment for the wrong office. Also, care is always allowed at the time of the appointment, even when balances are due, typical for patient follow-ups. However, appointments are only allowed when payments are made on past-due balances. This, again, leads me to believe you're commenting in the wrong place. Please, let me know if I can be of further assistance. Chad Gammage, General Manager 480-892-1212

I wish I could give 0 stars. I agree with others the staff, including the business owner (did not retain his name due to his nonstop talking, but he is tall, has red hair and blue eyes). I had 2 very cold experiences with Dr. Raman. I think she was uninterested because I am healthy, so no money to be made from me on weight loss or all of the other gimmicks they market all over their TV screens and images on the walls. This is not a general practitioner. I moved on but wanted copies of my 1 lab result and the close out of my billings. For 3 months, they never answered the phone or returned my calls. Finally, after another VM, Samantha called me back, she was new, did not know what to do and became aggressive very fast. She claimed that I needed to come in person to obtain billing statements due to HIPAA requirements. So I did and they still did not provide them. And, HIPAA states specifically that a doctor cannot request this of a patient, records should be accessible by mail or by email. Listen, the list of issues goes on and on with them. I went in to obtain solutions but got nothing but a bunch of false claims, rebuttals and conspiracy theories. I stayed very patient, calm and did not raise my voice, eventhough they just pushed back, showed themselves to be uninformed and incapable, and as a result, they became defensive and condescending. They literally will not print a bill or medical records unless you pay $75. And they state anything you need, you should be obtaining from your insurance... so basically, they do nothing for you. Additionally, the "owner" literally told me that my health records are not mine, but the doctors, so legally, I have no right to them!!!! Who are these people? None of this is worth it, it'll just hurt your health. After reading the reviews, I would not be surprised if the positive reviews are fake. PS: I bet the owner will add a response to my review claiming I am not a patient or was a some sort of a bad patient, just like the other negative reviews. Luckily, I did not stick around long enough. So funny! 😭😭😭

My name is Chad Gammage, and I am one of the owners and the General Manager of AVISTA Medical Center; and I acknowledge you were a patient of Dr. Raman. I remember our conversation as talking in circles because you refuse to follow the simple instructions stated in all healthcare plans (insurance policies), AMC policies, and your statement. You demanded something different because you feel the rules don't apply to you. I also explained that AMC employees are not licensed in health insurance and cannot legally discuss the terms and conditions of any insurance policy or change any decisions made by the payor (insurer). Unfortunately, you felt none of this mattered to you, so we talked in circles for about 30 minutes. I was patient and polite, as was AMC staff when they tried to inform you. But eventually, I terminated our conversation. I ended our discussion by repeating for a final time, "Please call your insurance company if you have any concerns or questions regarding your insurance policy, its terms and conditions, billing, coverages, decisions, statements or balances owed, and we will be happy to comply with their instructions." As we always do, as required in all contracts with payors and Arizona Insurance Law. It's too bad you have to attack our staff for following procedures and doing their jobs. This is not about their behavior, training, or the quality of care you received from Dr. Raman. This is about unreasonable demands and ignoring simple instructions that work for the vast majority of others. We were just not a fit for each other, and that's ok. This does not make you a lousy patient either. We sincerely hope you find the care you need with another provider and follow through with any recommended treatments. By the way, it's true; a few former patients and one former employee found it necessary to involve others to help vent their anger with additional poor reviews. Case in point; one week ago, we received three one-star reviews in the same hour immediately following the termination of a patient for misconduct. Two of those reviews are from non-patients—shame on all of them. No doubt the majority of our reviews, 5-star reviews speak for themselves. Again, sorry things did not work out, and we hope the best for you and the care you need. You are not a bad patient. Respectfully, Everyone at AMC.
