Exceptional experts! Just returned from a 5-day mid-range Safari with my husband for our wedding anniversary and the experience exceeded all expectations!! Everything was absolutely wonderful! Amazing Wildlife, Outstanding Guide, Unforgettable Memories We had an amazing 6-day safari with our guide, Ombeni, who is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable about the Serengeti. Thanks to him, we were fortunate enough to see the Big Five across the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. GREAT TRIP Overall it was a fantastic trip. We had two great guides Muhammad and Ombeni who led us for the whole duration of our trip in Tanzania. They were extremely responsible and knowledgeable as they helped us spot and identify many of the wild African animals along the trip, including all of the famous African Big Five which we managed to see. Lifetime experience The most amazing experience with the best staff. From booking with Kelvin to our amazing guide Innocent and cook Dulla we had the best time and were very well looked after. We saw all of the big 5 and we couldn’t thank Innocent more. Dulla made the best food, even our fussy members had clean plates. From the very beginning, Gift Tembo took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for. He was incredibly flexible, attentive to our wishes, and designed an itinerary that perfectly matched our expectations. His professionalism and personal approach made us feel confident that we had chosen the right company. Our guide was Nuru, and we can honestly say he is the best safari guide we could have hoped for. Not only does he have an extraordinary ability to find even the rarest animals, but his knowledge of wildlife behavior, ecology, and animal habits is simply outstanding. Listening to him felt like watching a live National Geographic documentary, with fascinating stories and explanations throughout the journey. During our safari, we were the first vehicle to spot rare animals on several occasions, and many times we enjoyed these incredible sightings completely on our own. Our leopard encounters were especially unforgettable. Over the course of just two days, we managed to see a leopard five different times, which is remarkable in itself. Even more incredible, two of those sightings were completely private, with no other safari vehicles around. These were truly magical moments that we will never forget. Nuru also has an exceptional eye for photography. He always positioned the vehicle perfectly so we could see the animals’ faces while making sure the lighting was ideal for photos. Thanks to him, we came home with incredible pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. What impressed us most was his deep respect for nature and wildlife. He always switched off the engine at the right moments, encouraged everyone to stay quiet, and made sure the animals’ wellbeing always came first. His experience, professionalism, and genuine passion for wildlife are evident in everything he does. We were also extremely impressed by the quality of the accommodations and the food throughout the trip. Every lodge and camp was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly located, while every meal was delicious. The food was fresh, varied, and prepared to a high standard. The most exciting part, however, was spending the nights inside Serengeti National Park. Sleeping in a tented lodge surrounded by wildlife roaming freely around the camp after dark is an experience unlike any other. At the same time, we always felt completely safe, as guests are escorted by the camp staff whenever they walk between their tents and the common areas after sunset. It perfectly combines adventure with complete peace of mind. After five days on safari, we are convinced that the guide is what truly makes the difference between a good safari and an unforgettable one. Life changing safari experience - Highly recommend Daniel Mbise Just finished an incredible 10-day safari in Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. Daniel Mbise was the most knowledgeable and experienced guide we could have asked for. He taught us so much about the wildlife, local culture, and history. His spotting skills on our game drives were amazing, we saw multiple lions, leopards, cheetahs and even a rhino! As a photographer, I was especially grateful that Daniel was very patient and helped me to get the best angles for shots. The entire trip was very well planned by Meru Slopes. Kelvin was super responsive and answered my many questions and fully customized the itinerary to fit exactly what we wanted. The accommodations felt luxurious, the food was excellent, and we got to see pretty much everything on our bucket list. I highly recommend booking with Meru Slopes and asking for Daniel Mbise!

Los encuentros con el leopardo fueron especialmente inolvidables. En tan solo dos días conseguimos verlo cinco veces, algo realmente excepcional. Además, en dos de esas ocasiones disfrutamos de la observación completamente solos, sin ningún otro vehículo alrededor. Fueron momentos mágicos que nunca olvidaremos. Además, Nuru tiene un gran sentido para la fotografía. Siempre colocaba el vehículo en la posición perfecta para que pudiéramos ver la cara de los animales y conseguir la mejor luz para nuestras fotos. Gracias a él volvimos a casa con imágenes espectaculares y recuerdos inolvidables. Lo que más admiramos fue el enorme respeto que demuestra por la naturaleza y los animales. Todos los lodges y campamentos eran preciosos, muy cómodos y estaban perfectamente ubicados. La comida fue absolutamente deliciosa: fresca, variada y preparada con un nivel de calidad excepcional. Sin embargo, lo más emocionante fueron las noches dentro del Parque Nacional del Serengeti. Dormir en un tented lodge mientras los animales salvajes se mueven libremente alrededor del campamento durante la noche es una experiencia imposible de olvidar. Great trip and will recommend Meru to all The crew at Meru delivered an unforgettable nine day Safari. I have a section on the trip and also tips for souvenirs. Overall trip - My tour guide Samweli is top notch and one of the best guides around (16+ years experience). He had a great eye for spotting animals, taught us culture/history of the people and lands, knew the answer to every question we had about the animals or flora, respected animals by maintaining safe distance from them while other guides would chase/harass the animals (you can still see them close with your naked eye as they will walk towards you, but many other drivers were obviously doing what they probably thought tourists wanted to maximize their tips). Everyday he cleaned the car thoroughly so it felt new. We saw all the big 5 and more, most of which ended up fairly close because they walk around anyways or they are by main road. His 16+ years of experience shows as other guides were calling him for advice on which roads to take. He also drove safely in general - didn’t tailgate other cars, which avoided dust and ensured safety for passengers and animals that might be crossing; many other drivers we saw were a few feet from the car in front which resulted in a ton of dust being put inside car. He did not off-road, which damages the environment. Our consultant Leonard was great in helping create a trip that met our budget and placing us in amazing lodges (some of them is what I imagine a billionaire would live like), as well as keeping us updated every step of the planning process. Emmanuel was our driver to and from the airport, and also provided the city tour; he was very knowledgeable about Arusha and open minded. Souvenir trips to get the lowest prices and most variety: buy paintings at one of the shops near lodge or national park, and buy the carvings/stones/clothes at the Masai market (you can get paintings here too) in Arusha during city tour, and also at Sanaa for glassworks/bags during the city tour (this place is amazing - employs people with disabilities and is also inexpensive for westerners). We bought some glass cups and animal structures they made in front of us at Sanaa. Of course if you aren’t doing city tour or don’t have at least 2 hours in Arusha, you’d need to buy from one of the souvinier shops by the park. Outside of Sanaa, bargaining is expected by the sales people. Do not come in thinking you are a westerner and will not bargain with poor people because you will get absolutely ripped off, and regret it when you see the same thing in another store a few feet down the road at a much lower rate. If you want to give away your money, do so at a non-profit or a place like Sanaa. Less applicable for Masai market (significant competition there amongst shops prevents gouging), but all other stores you shop at - they will ask for $400 when they’d settle for $50 and they still make a healthy profit. I saw a family before us pay $700 for some painting and crafts that I saw for $40 at another store later on. Masai market has prices fairly close to the lowest anyways so don’t expect more than 20% reduction. Safari land and its main competitor (don’t know name but not as fancy) are expensive; just go there for the experience. Many carvings you see are NOT unique. I have a hand etched wooden animal which I bought in a distant African country thinking it was unique, but I saw the same thing in Safariland for 6x the price ($20 vs $120). Buy it because you like it, not because it’s one of a kind because it’s unlikely to be.

Amazing tour guide, excellent organization by tour operator, comfortable and unforgettable experience This was an amazing experience for us. We did the 9 day northern circuit through Meru slopes. The tour was very well organized and planned. All the admission fees and meals were taken care of by the tour operator. Accommodations were wonderful. Our tour guide Samweli Bahine was simply the best. He was so knowledgeable about not only the animals but also the fauna and flora, culture, and the history of the land. We learned a lot from Samweli. We saw all the big and small animals and more. He was always on time, friendly, and interesting to talk to. He made sure restaurants knew about our dietary restrictions (vegetarian and vegan). We had very good food with lots of veggie choices as a result. The safari vehicle was always kept clean and it was a comfortable ride even on bumpy roads due to Samweli’s safe and excellent driving. We communicated with Leonard Mkawi, the safari organizer, prior to the trip and Leonard made sure our trip was organized well. Samweli Bahine was the best tour guide—I cannot overstate how wonderful he is and how he made our trip an amazing experience. Overall, we highly recommend Meru Slopes and Tours. They made our experience in Tanzania safe, comfortable, enjoyable, pleasant, and unforgettable.

Safari - Momente für das ganze Leben Wir haben über Leonhard und meruslopes eine 8 Tägige Safari gebucht und das war die beste Entscheidung die wir haben treffen können. Mit unserem Guide Jacob sind wir mehr als zufrieden gewesen. Er ist sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und lustig. Wenn wir Fragen hatten konnte er uns diese gut beantworten und er hat auch so immer wieder interessante Fakten erzählt außerdem ist sehr gut im auffinden von Tieren, durch ihn haben wir zum einen unsere Big 5 vollständig sehen können zum andern auch zwei Löwen Jagten und noch vieles mehr! He also coordinated free accommodation and food for us the night before and after our safari which was incredibly helpful, as well as transportation to and from the airport. Tanzania Safari 2026 Just finished a 6-day safari in Tanzania. We started at Tarangire, followed by Lake Manyara, Serengeti and finally, the amazing Ngorongoro crater. We managed to see all of the Big Five, with the final one, the Black Rhino, seen in the last hour of the last day of the safari.. truly remarkable. We also got to witness the Great Migration in the Serengeti. We booked with Meru Slopes Tours and Safaris and they created a very nice, well balanced programme for throughout our stay. Accomodations were also great, especially the Sightseeing Luxury Tented Lodge in the Serengeti. Special mention to our guide, Douglas, who was really knowledgeable, experienced and very kind. A truly fantastic experience with meru slopes A truly fantastic experience with meru slopes from start to finish. From the moment we arrived in arusha airport until the end of our trip on return to arusha we had a fantastic time on a 5 day safari 2 days camping and 2 days in fanaka lodge. Our guide and chef samweli and salimu made our experience just perfect. Our food throughout the whole trip was beautiful and our game drive days where perfectly planned with lots and lots of sightings. They looked after us so well. My partner was unwell for a couple of days and they where both very helpful and caring. I would highly recommend an experience with meru slopes, a great experience all round.
