I attended the Night Photography Workshop around Westminster and the London Eye and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. I was a little bit nervous because I hadn’t used my camera for a while plus, I had a new, so-far untested lens. Steve Franck, the tutor for the night, quickly put me at ease. He gave a brief introduction to some basic technical aspects of photography which are applicable to any form of photography and on their own would be a valuable takeaway. It was a small group but we were equally attended to and with Steve’s expert guidance my confidence grew and I was able to finish up with a good selection of images that I am very happy with.
There were lots of great tips for producing interesting images and we were encouraged to experiment. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and Steve was an excellent tutor. I would happily recommend the workshop to anyone and look forward to trying some others in the future.
I recently attended a long exposure photography workshop led by Steve Franck of 36exp Photography in Westminster. The course began with an in-depth exploration of the technical aspects of long exposure photography, including the use of histograms and various Neutral Density filters. As the workshop commenced under a cloudy blue sky, the weather gradually transformed into a blanket of gray clouds. Nevertheless, we expertly captured breathtaking long-exposure images that showcased the beauty of movement. Amidst the somber overcast, we also immortalized captivating black and white photographs.
Steve guided us to several notable locations in London, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the session. This workshop not only fostered creativity and inspiration but also encouraged camaraderie among participants. Overall, it was a valuable experience that I highly recommend to anyone interested in long exposure photography skills.
The following images were taken during the workshop straight out of the camera without any editing.
I recently attended the Ballet Shoot at the English National Ballet. This was a wonderful event which I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone wishing to improve their photography. I was a little nervous at the beginning. However, once we began the session, I quickly found out that the dancer's and fellow photographers all very helpful. Thanks also to Steve for his patience and understanding. I will definitely do this again.
I've participated in three workshops with 36exp over the last 12months and each has been excellent. Steve is a fabulous instructor who takes the time to get to know you, your gear and provide a helping hand. I get to visit London locations that I would otherwise be a bit nervous going to myself (think the Thames riverbank at night) and have taken some brilliant shots!
Today I spent an excellent and informative day being taught by Steve about the in and outs of flash photography. He was very engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this Flash photography workshop.
The model Saida Mickeviciute was amazing too.

I went to a long exposure course, hosted by Steve Franck. Very personable guy, with heaps of knowledge and very willing to help. Taught me a lot about LE, the maths needed which was particularly useful, and also about composition - which took me out of my comfort zone, with some great results. Highly recommended: I will be back.
We recently attended a night photography workshop hosted by Steve Franck was amazed by how talented he is. He is also a very passionate instructor. There were 6 of us in the group and he spent extra time for each and everyone one of us, individually to address any issues and answer questions. He went above and beyond anything I have seen so far in many similar workshops I have attended so far. As a result, I will highly recommend Steve for any photography event and session.
