Steve Franck led us on our long exposure/ND filter tutorial down the Thames from Westminster Bridge to Surrey Quays taking in numerous opportunities to photograph movement using ND filters. Steve gave great insight and tuition and also was hugely helpful with the range of cameras and tripods in the group.
I recently participated in a morning session photographing Boxers at The Repton Boxing Club in East London.
It was an exciting morning creating images of this dynamic Sport. I felt confident creating images as 36expo was on hand to provide feedback and support throughout the morning session.
I am delighted with the look and feel of my images😍
I highly recommend these workshops featuring different subjects, because I certainly got to learn about using the right Lens, seeing the quality and direction of light and timing my shots for a compelling frame.
Each subject is different and Boxers are unique because they don't keep still.
This was a fantastic session.
I have done three session so far and I feel a little better each time.
I will return for the next one.
Highly recommended
Michael Vincent.
We covered about 7 different locations in London at a manageable pace, though it was a long day! Viewpoints I would never have found on my own and great tuition as to what settings to use. Not cheap but I got my money's worth!

Thanks Julie. Great to meet you!
Steve's beginner course was genuinely one of the best learning experiences I've had. He has a real gift for breaking things down without making you feel overwhelmed. Everything was clear, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish. I learned more in one day than I expected Highly recommend to anyone starting out!
I attended the Night Photography Workshop around Westminster and the London Eye and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. I was a little bit nervous because I hadn’t used my camera for a while plus, I had a new, so-far untested lens. Steve Franck, the tutor for the night, quickly put me at ease. He gave a brief introduction to some basic technical aspects of photography which are applicable to any form of photography and on their own would be a valuable takeaway. It was a small group but we were equally attended to and with Steve’s expert guidance my confidence grew and I was able to finish up with a good selection of images that I am very happy with.
There were lots of great tips for producing interesting images and we were encouraged to experiment. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and Steve was an excellent tutor. I would happily recommend the workshop to anyone and look forward to trying some others in the future.
I attended the Urban and Architecture session with Steve Franck. The session was well run, Steve was very supportive and gave good suggestions on how to improve and reframe potential photos, which helped everyone get the most out of the session. I am looking forward to joining one of the Long Exposure groups later on this year.
Attended the 'Night Photography Workshop - Thames Low Tide' on 18th March. Nice group of 10 or so participants, led by Steve, who was welcoming, professional, helpful and knowledgeable. He offered as much or as little input and guidance as each person needed. With me he was constructive, helpful both on technical and compositional aspects. It has given me confidence to try more night time photography much more, which was my objective. I would certainly book another Workshop with 36exp Photography.
I just finished my first-ever photography workshop with Steve and it was fantastic. We spent the session exploring London’s architecture while diving into the technical side of things. Steve made learning manual controls, long exposures, and light trails incredibly easy to grasp. I walked away with much more confidence and some great shots.

Thanks Sam, and great to see your fantastic photos.
I attended the Architecture and Urban Landscapes Workshop on 27th March 2026. I didn't know what to expect, but Steve Franck was fantastic. He was very helpful, engaging with everyone, realising what level and help each individual needed. He took us to some great locations. Only downside of the night was that the workshop was for only 2 hours. I will certainly be booking another workshop. I leant a lot during the two hours and feel much more confident with using my camera. Thank you Steve 😊

Thanks Foluke, see you again soon.
The recent Ballet Photo Shoot was a great experience with lots of time and guidance on photographing dancers in the studio at Sadlers Wells East. I learned a lot and look forward to attending more of 36exp Photography workshops! Really good after-workshop support as well, which makes it a very rounded and supportive experience. Thank you Andrew!

Thanks Sian!
Attended the Thames Low Tide shoot on 2nd March and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The tutor was fabulous and gave us as much help as was needed or required. Was a large group of 14. Learnt a great deal during the evening and have now booked up for their holiday workshop in Valencia. Thank you for a fun evening and we were spoilt with the weather, no wind and very pleasant on the shores of the Thames. Would definitely recommend this company.

Thanks Brenda. And thanks for putting up with the large group. That was a one off!
We were met us at the appointed place and the joining instructions were clear and concise. Steve made the course extremely enjoyable and I think everyone learned a lot, I know I did. Time raced by but I came away with some really good pictures. I will certainly recommend as Steve will explain everything if there’s something you’re not sure of. Will book again for the daytime long exposure course.

Thanks for coming Rick, look forward to seeing you on the Long Exposure Course.
It was a brilliant day. I wasnt sure what to expect, but that all fell away very quickly. The young people we photographed were excellent. Very inventive and endlessly patient. A lovely group of like minded souls made for a thouroughly enjoyable day that I would recommend to anyone.

Thanks Tanya. Great to see you again!
Attended Night Photography Workshop - West to East on the 3 March 2026. Steve Franck ran the workshop very well although it was hurried as there was a lot packed into a short timeframe. My pictures have been put up on my profile and groups and received very positive comments.

Thanks Marcellus. Great photos. You’re right, there is a lot to fit in on the West-East workshop but that gets you a lot of good photo opportunities.
