If you've never been to a Donkey sanctuary you should definitely try this place. Very well done up and well laid out, lots of parking, inexpensive. The donkeys are fascinating and very calm and friendly. So too are the staff! Recommended

Recommend visiting here if visiting the IOW, it's based in Sandown but easy to get to from other parts of the island. A lot of the animals are rescues and some have quite sad histories including a lame tiger who they were told was born with a deformed front leg however X-rays have shown that it was broken and the Tiger never received the correct treatment which has led to a deformity. They're currently fundraising to create an outdoor space for some bears 'Brothers Benji and Balu have lived a life of misery in a tiny cage on the side of a restaurant in Azerbaijan. Bored, hungry and suffering from serious injuries, these bears were kept there as nothing more than a novelty to attract customers.' One has had to have its teeth removed due to biting at the bars of the cage in which it was housed in an attempt to escape 😢 #projectbears #saveBenjiandBalu

Go at the beginning of your holiday you may want to go back!!! Fabulous I could have stayed here all day. All the animals seemed happy and content. I hope the bears are soon in their new stress free environment. We’ll be back

Gorgeous animals The toilets are far from the front entrance, not good for disabled people. There was no map given and the big map at the front isn’t clear. The restaurant is plant based, so don’t expect a decent bit of meat! Apart from that the animals are beautifully looked after with a great amount of space in their enclosures. The raccoon and skunk were favourites. Well worth going for the animals! Just take lunch with you

Incredible!!! What a fantastic place, fantastic animals and a fantastic family of staff! This is not your typical sanctuary/zoo this is so much more. A reality that the world at times can be so unkind but a reminder there is always happiness to be found with a charity working so hard to change this. A range of ages had the most amazing time here, a calm relaxed environment and at every turn a keeper just beaming when you ask them about each animals history. My 7, 4 and 3 yr old grandchildren were captivated and have learned more about mankind and the animals in one day than any zoo has ever offered combined. This really is such a personal place, we all felt part of it, and I cannot thank all those involved at the sanctuary enough! Please visit and support them! These animals are truly a bunch of world beaters…just desperate to see you and absolutely entertain you!

We went to a sunset safari, which was amazing. The way this place has changed over the years is phenomenal. The conservation work they do is off the scale. Beautiful animals that are so cared for and given a new life and second chances. Definitely worth at least a couple of visits. ❤️🐅🐒
