Love it here. Such a lovely sanctuary. I would recommend visiting. It probably isn't a full day out as is quite small, but there is a cafe and play area. Also just nearby are other attractions in easy walking distance. I always like to go to the sanctuary then carry on down towards the pier. I have been countless times and can't wait to go back when they have bears!!

Small animal sanctuary close to the beach honing some big cats and other animals. Not the biggest park but big enough to while away a couple of hours.
All animal appear well looked after and the talks from the keepers are informative.

Sanctuary itself is great. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is the cafe. They now have gift shop, admissions, and cafe customers all paying at one till, with no clear queue side meaning there was a huge queue through the cafe, blocking the tables.

Although a fairly small zoo with a cheap option to return within 7 days. We had had enough after 2 hours.
Whilst our youngest was asleep we wanted some hot food in the onsite cafe but it was full with a very long queue waiting to be served. It was mainly filled with people eating their own cold food or just lounging with empty coffee cups taken up seating. Whilst eating your own food is allowed in the cafe, the zoo is losing trade as we were not the only ones leaving to buy something hot to eat. In our case we decided not to return.
Allow eating of one’s own food outside in the cold with their cold food so those of us that want to support the cafe and therefore the zoo by buying food on site, can.

What they’re doing is great but limited to see
The fact it’s a sanctuary is great and what they’re doing is really good. Staff seem to care about the animals and it’s really well kept. We found it was a very short trip as not a lot to see. Kids were fed up pretty quickly compared to other zoos they’ve been to. The park was lovely. The main downside was not being able to get in the cafe to warm up and buy food/drink. It was so full of others bringing picnics in people who wanted to buy food couldn’t sit. Seems counterproductive to making money for a sanctuary. The lady on reception wasn’t overly friendly, however the restaurant staff did seem lovely and very busy.

So pleased we visited!
Volunteers are nice, they had time to talk to me and children. Good variety of animals not seen in other zoos. Gorgeous hot chocolate and brownie. Good to see the bear enclosure coming along will be back to meet them. The cockatoo was funny. He liked to copy and dance. It was very cold but we still enjoyed it. You can warm up meeting the reptiles as well as in the cafe. We used the hovercraft to travel from portsmouth and that was a great deal for a family of 5.

An amazing day out
An amazing day out. If you visit the Isle of Wight this is definitely worth visiting. A wonderful sanctuary for animals with challenging backgrounds. Badly threatened at circuses and then rejected. Pets that outgrew their owners and many others reasons. The animals are treated exceptionally well by committed staff and volunteers who I must say were so friendly and informative. Animals include Lion, Tigers, Monkeys right down to the smallest insects. A cracking day out which 3 generations of my family loved.
