My friend and I booked this ATV and it turned out to be the highlight of the trip. We are both well traveled and said this was easily one of the best experiences.
We easily arranged a pick up spot with the company from our hotel and it was a nice drive to where you start the tour. The included transport is helpful!
When you get there you get a quick demo of how to work the ATVs, meet the team, and do a quick drive on the street to make sure you are comfortable driving. From there we went immediately onto the path in the mountains. It was really pretty and they also let us stop for photos.
The hike to the waterfalls was pretty steep, so be prepared for that. It also can get slick so have the right shoes. The falls themselves are beautiful and refreshing. We were able to swim (and of course take more photos) while one of the guides made sure to watch our stuff. The best part by far was jumping off next to one of the waterfalls!
The ATVs are new and nice. Also, the helmets are clean which was a big win for me. I wish I would have realized how much storage space there was; there is definitely room for to store water bottles, sunscreen, small towel, etc.
I’d highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to have a fun adventure!

I had an amazing experience with Tunco Life during my time in El Salvador. I did several tours with them, including Santa Ana Volcano, the Ruta de las Flores, Tamanique Waterfalls, and a trip to the Bolas de Fuego festival.
My guides Pablo and Salva were both fantastic. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. They explained a lot about the places we visited, but at the same time the tours never felt like someone was just reciting information from a script. We had great conversations along the way and they were always happy to answer questions.
I really enjoyed every tour with Tunco Life and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and friendly guides in El Salvador. If I come back to El Salvador, I would definitely book with them again!
Salva was the perfect guide for our Ruta de Flores tour. He was a wealth of knowledge of everything El Salvador. We were able to spend ample time at each stop along the tour, never feeling rushed. Salva was so kind to our small group, even offering to get us to the sandy beach nearby the next day. 10/10 would recommend tunco life tours
Santa Ana Volcano Hike – 3/5, Mainly Due to the Pace and Drop-Off
The communication and organization before the tour were excellent, and the pickup from San Salvador worked perfectly. Pablo was also friendly and professional.
Unfortunately, the hike itself felt too rushed. The pace was very fast, with little consideration for slower walkers, and we only spent around 5 minutes at the volcano before heading back. I would have really liked more time to enjoy the view and atmosphere.
The biggest issue was the drop-off in San Salvador. I asked if I could be dropped off closer to my accommodation, but the alternative drop-off was at a roadside stop on the highway. I literally had to walk along the highway for around 20 minutes, with cars speeding past me, until I reached an area where there were proper sidewalks again. I did not feel safe at all. A drop-off somewhere within the city would have been much better.
Overall, well organized, but the actual experience felt rushed and could have been much more enjoyable with a slower pace and more time at the volcano.
My husband and I had an absolutely incredible experience with El Tunco Life! We did the Santa Ana Volcano tour with David and the Ruta de las Flores and Tamanique Waterfalls tours with Salva. Every tour exceeded our expectations.
They picked us up directly from our hotel, making everything easy and stress-free from the very beginning. David and Salva were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about sharing their beautiful country. Also both of them speak English which made it a lot easier for my husband to communicate.
More than just taking us to amazing destinations, they made my husband and me fall in love with El Salvador—the kindness and hospitality of the Salvadorian people, the delicious food, the breathtaking views, and the rich culture. Throughout the entire trip, we always felt incredibly safe and well taken care of. They made sure we had the best experience possible.

Really great experience with Tunco Life, our guide Salvo was super friendly and really knowledgeable. He shared a lot about not just the area, wildlife and volcano, but also about the history of El Salvador and really added a lot to the hike itself. The Santa Ana volcano is stunning and well worth the trip from El Zonte. Highly recommend. Lunch spot was gorgeous too.

I used the shuttle service from El Zonte to the San Salvador airport. The vehicle was modern and clean and the driver was so friendly. Not to mention he was a very safe driver. I highly recommend this service.

The tour was led by Chamba with pick up at 5.30 am . I am grateful to have taken the early tour as on arrival to the summit of Santa Ana volcano our small group of 7 were alone. The hike was fairly strenuous, but Chamba ensured plenty of stops along the way .The volcano crater is stunning with the smoking aqua blue lake contrasting the yellow sulphur coated walls . Lunch overlooking the lake was well priced . An excellent day out thank you Chamba .
