The team could not be more accommodating. We had a huge ask that most restaurants would’ve turned us away but not only did we get an 11 person reservation on a Friday night with 30 minutes notice, the team gave us the private dining room.
All the food came out quickly and was delicious. Opted in for dessert and the cheesecake was a standout. Our dirty martini’s were perfect.
What a great evening! Big ups to the whole team, manager, bar staff, kitchen and servers. Thank you all!
We Expected a decent meal / nothing special but it far surpassed our expectations. Every item we had was fantastic. The restaurant sources their products locally which we love because things are so fresh (and there is less air pollution when things are not shipped from hundreds or thousands of miles away). Service was excellent except for one waiter who took us to our table but luckily didn’t serve us. The food and service were so good that we came back the next night and had another wonderful meal. Highly recommend

Hi Tedd,
Thank you so much for the amazing review! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that we exceeded your expectations, especially when you were just expecting a "decent" meal. It’s fantastic that you appreciated the freshness of our locally sourced ingredients—it's something we're really proud of, and we love that it made a difference for you.
We’re also grateful for your kind words about the service, though we’ll make sure to address the issue with the waiter who took you to your table. It’s important to us that every part of your experience is seamless, and we’ll use your feedback to continue improving.
We’re so glad you came back the next night to enjoy another wonderful meal with us—it truly means a lot. Your recommendation is the highest compliment we could ask for. We look forward to welcoming you again soon!
With regards,
Team Tesoro

First came to Tesoro two years ago, ordered oysters and pasta and it was an amazing meal, very memorable. Returned recently and was pretty disappointed. The menu has changed but the oysters we got were only subpar, the garnish was completely frozen so eating the oyster was ruined because you had a mouth full of ice and couldn’t taste anything. The beef tartare was delicious but the crisps on the plate were equivalent to store-bought red rock deli and it didn’t justify the price. I got one of the rigatonis which was tasty, but ultimately had very little flavour for a fine dining restaurant. You couldn’t taste the sauce at all but you could taste the kale and the cheese (which at times was overpowering). The people I was with enjoyed their food but I was pretty disappointed. Promises fine dining, very steep price, pretty mediocre food.
Such a disappointing experience here. Booked a table online after reading some reviews and looking over the menu - it all looked great! We arrived and stood waiting for 5 minutes while multiple staff members walked past and ignored us. A simple “hello, won’t be a moment” is the bare minimum surely?
Sat down and waited another 15 minutes before anyone came over, half the restaurant was empty so I’m unsure why it took so long to greet, seat and take a drink order.
We received our meals, just 2 knives on the table and after trying to get the attention of staff (who literally could not care less) I just got up and took cutlery from another table.
The meal was terrible. The vegetarian linguine was only slightly better than Heinz spaghetti in a can. Awful. The beef tartare was bizarre (see pic attached) this has to be the most unappetising meal to be sat in front on me. A plate of dog food with some chips on the side. For these two things and a couple of ciders was $115! We left to pay and waited again for ages, staff didn’t ask how the meal was and actually didn’t even say thank you or have a good night - nothing. My advice, go elsewhere! Hobart is full of fabulous places to eat - just not here.
The food here is genuinely the best food I’ve had in years. The focaccia is to die for and the Margherita pizza was sensational. Me and my friend will be coming back here on an empty stomach to eat as much as we possibly can, it was that good. The service was amazing and thank-you to the workers that night for being so wonderful.
Was really hoping to love this place — decor’s lovely, menu reads well, but the experience missed the mark.
Food-wise, it’s fine, but if you’re after the real deal, you might walk away underwhelmed. Leaned more towards a Westernised take on Italian than anything authentic — flavours were safe, nothing that really wowed. Pasta tasted a bit jarred, and while portions were generous, there wasn’t much depth to the dishes.
A very friendly welcome and accommodated us without a booking as had only just flown into Hobart. Food was delicious and wine that was recommended accompanied the food really well. Service was outstanding. Sardine dish was a stand out for me. Highly recommend this restaurant for a great experience.
We visited on a Monday evening and the food was excellent. Especially the mango margarita and garlic pizza starter.
Unfortunately, the service didn't quite match the quality of the food. We often found it difficult to get the attention of staff when needed despite them walking past us multiple times. We also felt that the welcome on arrival could have been warmer. The man at the front desk, who appeared to be a manager, came across as rather cold and unapproachable, which wasn't the best first impression.
The dining area also felt a little cramped, with tables positioned quite close together, which reduced the sense of privacy and comfort.
Overall, the food was good but the service and dining experience has room for improvement.
We dined here this evening, had ragu and the lamb risotto. Ragu was dry and very little flavour, lamb risotto unfortunately the lamb was over cooked and chewy. Paid $39 & $37 for our mains and we were very underwelmed. Advice - use lamb back strap and don't over cook it. And in the words of Manu, "where is the sauce"?
Only saving grace was the chocolate cheesecake.
