We adopted a 1.5 year old Malinois that was super stubborn. Jerred was amazing from the 1st meeting. Our new boy is now doing great! Highly recommend!!

They did an excellent job training my puppy who 8month Boykin spaniel. My puppy is over energetic which can be a lot and they were able to get him to focus that energy on the right direction while my puppy still has his personality. Definitely recommend their service! Thank you

Southern State K9 was great, they helped both our Malinois and bird dog get trained up in a month and the training has stuck. Jared is great with coaching the dogs and helping them achieve their behavior goals. Jared has provided continued support and advice even a year after our initial training for the pups. He always responds immediately and provides expert advice that comes from a place of genuine interest in the dogs’ wellbeing.

Jared is extremely knowledgeable and professional. We feel very comfortable putting our dogs in his care.

Updated (8/20/2023) to add: we still continue to bring our dogs to Jared when we have occasion to travel without our dogs. Not only are we confident that they will be well cared for, but also knowing that Jared & Co will be working to reinforce their training is a HUGE benefit. We considered ourselves pretty competent dog owners and have done a similar board and train program with one of our previous dogs… however we found ourselves with a new rescue from the humane society that just wasn’t fitting in with the rest of our pack of four. We needed the help of a professional to help reprogram our adult pitbull mix into knowing the rules of how civilized dogs live in nice suburban houses, and to leave his survival behaviors of a stray behind. Now Pancho is absolutely perfect… and Jared has gotten us comfortable enough with the eCollar training tool that I plan to implement it to fine tune the behavior of our “good” dogs. (Turns out the new dog wasn’t the only one starting disagreements with the other dogs, the established pack members were being buttheads as well— and Jared helped us recognize that “challenge” body language and how and when to act to correct it.) It will definitely take continued work and consistency on our parts to make sure everyone is on the same page with their lessons, but Rome wasn’t built in a day and Jared has made himself available for ongoing follow up assistance. Obviously with a pack of five animals we have a soft spot for rescues, and Jared’s expertise has helped us make sure we can live happily and peacefully together. Cautionary note: not all board and train programs are created equal, and knowing this I am skeptical with the trainers I trust. I can 100% guarantee that Jared is the real deal, treating your dog well and using his skills and knowledge to make your pup choose to do the behaviors you want. We don’t have human children—our dogs are our family members— and I am very happy we chose Southern State K-9 with something as important as this. If you’ve never done professional training before, the price can be a bit of sticker shock. I’m writing this review to tell everyone it is worth every penny.

Phenomenal experience with Jared and his team. My Mal went to him for the 6 week program at seven months old. She returned to me with on and off leash training to include: recall, down, sit, heel, and stay. I recommend Southern State K9 to anyone looking for experienced SOF handlers to train their four legged friend. Jared also boarded my dog while away on TDY and offered video classes with me to improve her skills.

After 4 weeks with Southern State K9 LLC, we were happy to see how obedient our GSD was. We liked that Jared also took the time to teach our family great tips to be able to reinforce at home everything our dog learned with him. The best is that Jared’s training doesn’t end when he returns the dog. If you need a follow up, he will gladly meet with you for an extra session. Our baby is now more obedient, calm, and manageable THANKS TO SOUTHERN STATE K9!

We could not have been more pleased with the progress we were able to see after trusting them with our dog. We were given great updates about her progress that made us feel included and excited. We were then given the tools to learn how to further develop her new skills when we took her back home. As a result she is calmer and more confident in herself, and you can see that directly as a result of the time and care they took with her.

We’ve had a great experience with Southern State k9. It started with meeting the trainer and talking about our goals; where he helped us with direction of what specific things we could work toward. Our German Shepherd was about 15 months old and a ball of energy. When we picked him up at the end of the four weeks the best part was that he was still our same dog, with energy and personality, but he enjoyed obedience and training. Our dog is now about 80 pounds and it’s great when friends come over we can have him go to his “place” or “down” and he’ll actually stay there instead of freaking out trying to get attention from visitors (until he’s allowed to). Walks are 100% easier, and he’ll “heal” when we need him to. When we finished the homecoming session with the trainer he gave us a great class on how to continue the training and stressed the importance of keeping it up consistently, and it’s still paying off. I’d recommend training with Southern State K9 to anyone who wants to get their dog started in a focused direction in training, and wants to learn how to make their relationship with their dog even better.

We sent our sweet girl, Char, to Jared’s two week puppy program. We are absolutely thrilled with the work that he has done with her. We loved seeing her progress on the Southern State K9 Instagram and really appreciated the text updates as well. Once she had completed the puppy program, Jared brought her home and taught us how to continue her training! The lesson was very detailed and he answered all of our questions, plus some. We will definitely be scheduling more private lessons soon to help refine her and our abilities in order for her to strive!!

Jarred listens, this helped us be a better family unit with Hanzo. I feel comfortable taking Hanzo in public and knowing that he will be safe because of his training and ours.

I had never considered a board and train program until I got my recent stray Gracie. Though small at a mere 9 pounds she was developing some poor habits: nipping, jumping, excessive barking and dominating my passive pug. I knew she needed more than PetSmart training type lessons and was referred to Southern State K-9 from a trusted friend. Gracie returned home yesterday from four weeks with Jared. What an AMAZING difference!!!! Jared has years of professional training experience making him a true expert. Dog training is his passion. I received frequent updates regarding her progress and our in-home session yesterday lasted nearly two hours. Our package comes not only with two more in-home lessons but a lifetime warranty! I'm committed to continuing the training Jared taught us. Jared is always available to answer any questions....I texted him this morning needing some guidance and he responded immediately. If you want your dog trained properly, Southern State K-9 is for you! I couldn't give a higher recommendation.
