Last July we moved 6 hours away to Eastern oregon. The staff was exceptional at PDX Movers. Not only were they professional but they were diligent, courteous, And Timely. Seth, Cody and Thomas drove to Eastern Oregon in a single cab truck without air conditioning and all three of them were in the cab for the drive. It was over 100 degrees each way and they arrived smiling and motivated. Our contractor was very behind and unfortunately we had to make different plans with each item that was unloaded to store it. Seth and his team handled this without a problem. It was amazing!
Also, thank you Jona for sending us our invoices on the fly!

If you are in the PDX area and you are looking for a mover, stop looking and just hire PDX Movers. Great booking process, easy availability and a very reasonable price. Thomas and Michael were our crew on moving day. They were FANTASTIC! Absolutely no problems, lots of opportunity to check the status of our furniture for damage and correct placement. Super professional and genuinely caring. They didn't rush and had time to answer questions. I would use this company time and time again for moving. It really was that positive of an experience.

The PDX Movers team arrived at our storage facility promptly on time and immediately began working to fill up the truck with our possessions. Within one hour they were on the way to our new home and emptied the truck quickly and efficiently. The crew of 3 were friendly, courteous, and efficient. They were always willing to move furniture to a new spot if we asked them to do that. We did find some missing bolts for a dining room table in the parts box that had labels that were difficult to read so we were able to put those in easily. We really appreciated the good communication we had with all members of the team and highly recommend PDX Movers for prompt and reliable service. Thanks so very much!

I hired PDX Movers for a pack-and-load onto a truck (the truck was a different company - similar to a pod trailer). I had a video phone call where we went through my home and inventoried everything that was to be moved (large 4-bedroom home). They told me I could buy "50 to 60" moving blankets to cover what would be necessary - or they could provide. They would have extra blankets there on moving day - and all necessary boxes, wrapping, tape, etc.
The scope of the agreed work was: a) wrapping and packing of art and other breakables (e.g. dishes), b) wrapping and packing of all furniture, c) loading everything onto the truck (including pre-packed boxes we did ourselves).
The day of, 3 young men showed up. It took them a LOT longer than the initial estimate (so 4 hours went to 8 hours); they ran out of packing/protective materials and didn't tell me (so some items were protected while others ended up not at all); they damaged furniture (rolled my West Elm concrete drum table down our driveway without any protection); damaged 2 spots in the house (dinged the wall with a corner of something, dropped something heavy on a floorboard/splintered it); & packed the truck negligently. This last part was egregious; I had a white fabric Room&Board recliner they didn't wrap at all - it was just sitting in the dirty truck unprotected filthy and wedged with all sorts of other stuff. A piece of art they were supposed to protect/pack was totally unwrapped and wedged into an open-top box with rakes and other gardening equipment; it was warped/ruined. A chair leg had skewered a box; another had skewered a mattress - because of the poor way they'd packed everything.
The day of the move, I confronted one of the young movers about the table he rolled down the driveway and scuffed/scraped/etc. It was sitting in our flowerbed, crushing a poor plant when I walked up. He seemed nonchalant and said, "It's concrete. Easy to fix. Just file a claim. I'll give you the info about how later." (Seriously??) After all this, I did indeed file a big claim. Then, they said they weren't at fault for any of the damages (despite me having bought additional insurance) because this was a "pack and load" only and they are not culpable for anything that happened in transit, ignoring all the damages they clearly made during the actual move - and all the negligence that caused item damage.
If your move is tiny without nicer items, you buy extra insurance, and you use them for 100% of the move so they can't attempt to shirk off any responsibility, they might be okay to use.

Ultimately, they resolved my case by refunding me the $2500 that I paid.

We take damage claims seriously, and we’re sorry this customer was unhappy with the outcome of her move. However, several important details are missing from this review.
PDX Movers was hired only to load the shipment. The customer separately hired other companies to transport and unload her belongings, meaning the items passed through multiple companies after leaving our care.
Before and during the move, we offered our standard professional moving blankets and packing materials. The customer declined our blankets and instead purchased her own blankets from Amazon, which were significantly smaller and thinner than the commercial-grade blankets we normally use. She also declined proper materials for packing artwork and asked our crew to use free scrap cardboard instead.
During the move, the customer was aware that the available blankets had been exhausted. She directed our crew to remove blankets from certain items and move them to others, provided her own bubble wrap for her table, and continued adding additional items to the load after it was clear that protective materials were no longer available.
These details matter because proper materials are a critical part of protecting furniture and artwork during a long-distance move. They are also why we strongly recommend allowing our crews to use the professional materials we provide rather than trying to reduce costs by limiting them.
Just as importantly, PDX Movers did not transport or unload this shipment. Once a shipment leaves our possession, we cannot control how it is driven, shifted during transit, handled, or unloaded by another company. Our signed agreement clearly addresses this limitation of responsibility.
Despite these circumstances, we have worked with this customer through the claims process and offered compensation well beyond what we believe we are liable for in an effort to reach a fair resolution.
We absolutely stand behind our work when something is our responsibility. At the same time, we cannot accept responsibility for every damaged item after a shipment has been transported and unloaded by other companies, particularly when our recommended protective materials were declined or limited.
We encourage anyone planning a move like this to use proper moving materials and, whenever possible, have one company responsible for the complete move. It provides far greater accountability and protection from beginning to end.

From the first phone call to the end of my move, I was happy I chose to go with PDX Movers. Michael and Alex made a very very long day actually pretty enjoyable! They communicated the delays that occurred. The delays were not their fault. They worked quickly and efficiently and quite creatively to make moving out of my old building easier. They were kind funny and respectful of me and my cat Lily!
