This was my second time renting from Octane. My first experience was wonderful, which is why I chose them again for this business trip. The vehicle was in excellent condition, and most of the staff were just as friendly and helpful as before.
Unfortunately, one gentleman from the sales team completely ruined my experience.
I contacted the team early in the morning to extend my rental. After initially being told a payment link would be sent, I wasn’t informed until around noon that my car was already booked.
I was then offered alternative vehicles at significantly higher rates than advertised on their website.
I understand Dubai is entering peak season and prices are increasing. That’s perfectly reasonable! A simple explanation and an apology for the website not reflecting the latest rates would have been more than enough. Instead, his attitude came across as arrogant, dismissive, and condescending.
When I returned the car, a gentleman wearing black-framed glasses approached me and said, “I was the one talking to you earlier.”
Okay… and? Was I supposed to thank him?
He then told another employee, “She brought the car back. Go check it and see what’s the issue, what’s the problem.”
Excuse me? What issue? What problem?
I understand that inspecting a returned vehicle is standard procedure, but why speak as though there must already be something wrong with it?
I couldn’t help wondering whether he would have made the same assumption if I were a man. I can’t speak to his intentions, but his words made me feel disrespected and unfairly judged.
He has no idea how many vehicles I’ve driven or how many countries I’ve driven through. Nor should I have to explain any of that to receive basic respect.
I chose not to argue. Life’s too short for that kind of nonsense.
Customer service isn’t about sounding professional while making customers feel like an inconvenience. It’s about treating people with courtesy and respect.
I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just a reasonable explanation and a little basic courtesy.
The price wasn’t what cost Octane a returning customer. The attitude was.
That said, Octane is a good company, and I don’t believe this one employee represents the entire team. Amer and the other employees I’ve dealt with have always been incredibly patient, kind, and helpful.
It’s unfortunate that one person’s attitude overshadowed two otherwise excellent rental experiences. I hope management takes this feedback constructively. A business builds loyalty by treating customers with respect, not by treating every rental like a one-time transaction. 5 stars for the company, Amer, and all the other wonderful employees I’ve dealt with. 3 stars for that particular gentleman from the sales team. You can do better.

Attempted to rent a car from these guys. Communication started off good and progressively got worse, availability of cars was poor (and this was during off season). In the end when I was ready to commit to a car (albeit not what I actually wanted) the guy never got back to me. Ended up getting a car elsewhere much easier. I think I dodged a bullet on this one.

The Ferrari rental experience
I rented a Ferrari, and it was delivered to my hotel very quickly. A great touch was that the car arrived with a full tank of fuel. Mr. Alex was extremely friendly, and I also appreciated the fast response time via WhatsApp. The car was fantastic, and I rented it at a reasonable price with no deposit required; I highly recommend them.

Reliable car rental for a family vacation in Dubai.
We stayed with our family in Dubai and rented a comfortable SUV from Octane for two weeks. I was very pleased that it didn't take much time to process the documents, and the team doesn't require any security deposit. Inside the car was a child seat that we requested during booking—it was clean and secure. The only nuance is that if you plan to drive a lot between the emirates, keep a close eye on the 250 km daily limit to avoid paying extra for mileage. Otherwise, the service is excellent, and the managers are always available on WhatsApp. Next time we will definitely choose them again.

A huge advantage of Octane Rent is that they operate 24/7, with absolutely no breaks or days off, so you can pick up and return the sports car at any time that suits you. I’d like to give a special shout-out to Alex, the manager who promptly prepared all the paperwork, explained the driving nuances in detail, and made the handover process as smooth and quick as possible. We will definitely be back!
