Took my money, sold my reserved slab, then told me to go find the "old owners" myself
Do not trust this company. I bought three slabs from New York Quartz with extra material reserved in writing for a second job. That written hold was not a casual favor. It was part of how they closed the sale. I asked specifically about the process before paying, and their commitment to hold the remaining material is part of why I bought from them in the first place.
When I came back to collect what they had promised in writing, suddenly the slab was gone and the story was that the "old owners" had handled my order and the current owners had no obligation to honor it. I showed them the written proof. Their response was to shrug it off and tell me to go track down the previous owners myself, as if that were my problem to solve.
Let me be clear about what makes this worse. This same business, at the same address at 2201 West Atlantic Boulevard, publicly markets itself as a family-owned company with over 30 years of continuous family ownership. You cannot advertise three decades of family continuity to reel customers in and then hide behind a phantom ownership change the moment it is time to honor a written commitment. One of those stories is a lie. Either the family business pitch is marketing fiction, or the "old owners" excuse is. Pick one.
Either way, the result is the same. They got paid, I did not get what they promised in writing, and their solution was to send me on a scavenger hunt for people they claim no longer exist. That is not a miscommunication. That is not a misunderstanding. That is a business taking a customer's money and then refusing to deliver on the written terms of the sale.
If you are considering New York Quartz, get every single commitment in a signed contract with clear remedies, and assume nothing they tell you verbally will be honored. Better yet, take your project somewhere that does not need a disappearing-owner excuse to get out of its own paperwork.
