Extremely disappointing experience. An improper lien was placed on our home over a payment dispute between this company and their contractor—an issue that had absolutely nothing to do with us. We have documentation showing the lien was improper, yet we have been dealing with this situation for months. It took reporting the matter to the BBB and L&I before an attorney was finally involved. And then the attorney and monkey fence completely ghosted us.
It’s incredibly frustrating to have our property affected by a dispute we were never a part of. I would strongly recommend doing your research before working with this company

We hired Monkey fence in September. We started seeing red flags immediately. Luckily we had them perform work on a smaller project prior to a 40+ thousand commercial project. The owner appears to be out of country and is sending random unlicensed subs to perform the work. After noticing this we stopped work.
The owner has disappeared with our deposit and we have started proceedings to try and recover those funds.
Since this review was originally posted I have had others reach out about being scammed by this company. They are not up to date with LNI and have outstanding cases against them with the State of Washington.
Also there is a new190k lawsuit currently filed against their bond which means they might not be around much longer. Nothing left for you if you need to file against their bond. The company wont be around to stand behind their product. They simply dont care with nothing to lose. Protect your hard earned money.
Update: monkey fence hired a lawyer to attempt to intimidate me into removing my review. Multiple people have been sharing the same experience online about this company.

***BEWARE*** My neighbor coordinated work with Monkey Fence to have our shared fence redone. They said the work would be completed on September 3-4 and they never showed. They then came on September 11 with no communication, and took the fence down. They were supposed to lay the posts and install the fencing next day… except they did not. We have tried to connect with their team to no avail. The customer service notifies us that they will forward our notes to the install team. We are now at 3 weeks later, with no word on when the fence is going to be installed.
I highly suggest you consider before booking with this company for your services, as you may never get them! We have no idea if this fence is going to go up. Save yourself the time and headache and book with another company!

Stay away. A total scam. Took 50% deposit upfront, never showed up on the day promised and radio silence the minute I signed up and paid up for fence. Mentioned some last minute story(after I pinged several times) about foreman being sick , alternate crew etc, and printe moved me to.next day, again shady sounding time window, promise to update and then again, completely missing no communication awol! Calls went unanswered, a bot sent back a generic response message about missing my call (even more infuriating), and calls going to an overfull voice mail..
I'm not sure how I fell for this cause the guy who came to me seemed legit and informed but had actually left the company by the time I came back to them

I would strongly caution anyone considering Monkey Fence.
I paid a 50% deposit for a fence project and, after taking my money, communication became extremely difficult. I made repeated attempts to get clear answers on scheduling and next steps. Calls were not returned consistently, commitments were vague, and I was left chasing a company that already had a substantial amount of my money.
What makes this especially concerning is that I am apparently not the only customer describing this kind of experience. There are other recent reviews reporting missed appointments, poor communication, unfinished work, difficulty getting issues resolved, and in at least one case, problems getting a deposit refunded.
My issue is simple: if you take a customer's deposit, you have an obligation to communicate clearly, show up when promised, and either perform the work or return the money. A customer should not have to repeatedly call, email, and escalate simply to understand whether a contractor intends to honor the agreement.
I have now had to formally document my communications and contact my credit card company regarding the charge.
Taking the deposit was easy. Getting Monkey Fence to communicate and perform the work has been the hard part.
That is not how a professional contractor should operate.
Buyer beware.

Monkey Fencing did not use the red cedar red wood we paid for.. They put up most of the fence in the dark with headlamps and ended up putting the good smooth side toward the neighbors yard. They have refused to come back to fix the problem by not showing up for set dates. They have blocked our phone numbers to talk to their company.. They have been disrespectful and dishonest.
Hi Paul, we would like to clarify a few important facts regarding your project.
First, Monkey Fence uses only Western Red Cedar for our cedar fence installations. The material installed on your project was Western Red Cedar, and we have supplier records, receipts, project photos, and other documentation confirming the materials used. We understand that someone may have told you otherwise, but that does not change the actual materials installed on your project.
Second, before installation, the requested fence orientation was discussed and confirmed with you personally. You requested the finished/decorative side facing your yard, with the framing/2x4 side facing the neighboring property. The fence was built according to that request.
We now understand that you would prefer to rebuild it with the finished side to face the opposite direction. Unfortunately, changing the orientation at this point would require us to substantially dismantle and rebuild the fence and use completely new materials. This is not a correction of defective materials or an installation error; it would be a change from the original requested configuration.
We are always willing to review legitimate workmanship concerns, but we cannot completely rebuild a correctly installed cedar fence at no charge simply because the preferred orientation has changed or because a third party questioned the wood species after installation.
We have documentation supporting both the material used and the original project instructions, and we are happy to discuss the matter professionally based on those records.

This was an incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish—and, honestly, even after it was finished. We were originally scheduled for August 10, but they no-showed. We were then rescheduled for August 24, and they no-showed again. From there, it was one missed date after another, with very little communication and commitments that kept getting pushed back. We had three no-shows in a single week.
Since August 24 was supposed to be the new installation date, the fence should have been completed by August 25 or 26. It wasn’t. We were then assured it would be completed by Monday, August 31. It wasn’t. We made it clear that it absolutely had to be completed by Friday, September 4, and again, we were assured it would be done. It wasn’t.
On September 4—their final deadline—the crew finished the framing by 10:15 a.m., only to spend the next five and a half hours waiting around in our yard because the owner had not secured the boards. At 3:45 p.m., we were told the owner couldn’t find them, and the crew left for the day. These were boards that should have been secured by August 24, the rescheduled installation date. The fence was finally completed on September 5.
Unfortunately, after all of that, the workmanship itself was disappointing. We found 14 nails that completely missed the framing, a stripped screw on the gate handle that wasn’t even fully screwed in, cracked material, and trim boards that weren’t nailed in at all and simply fell down. We ended up having to do repair work on our brand-new fence ourselves.
They did provide several discounts for the delays and ultimately waived our remaining balance, but after everything we went through and the quality of the finished work, we would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are simply too many issues with both the project management and the quality of the work to recommend Monkey Fence.

After the installation was completed, we specifically asked whether you were happy with the final result and whether everything looked good, and our understanding from that conversation was that you were satisfied with the completed project.
We absolutely respect every customer’s right to share their experience, including the problems that occurred. At the same time, we believe it is important for anyone reading this review to understand the full context, including the steps we took to accept responsibility and compensate for the inconvenience.
We are continuing to improve our scheduling, communication, and quality-control processes so that situations like this do not happen again. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity we had to complete your project and regret that the overall experience left you dissatisfied.

After getting estimates and reading reviews/looking at pictures, I felt Monkey Fence was more in line with my budget and what I was looking for… a solid, nice looking fence with a sliding gate. The Monkey Fence company is a great place to get a new fence. Everyone involved was nice and professional. They were on point with their scheduling.Best of all we love our new fence....they did a beautiful job! I would like to take back everything That I posted 4 months ago. About a week after the fence waa installed wee noticed missing nails and cracked boards. We called Monkey Fence they came out a few weeks later and fixed those issues. About another 2 weeks passed and one of the fence sections had come loose from the post. Called again,had an appt. For repair....was ghosted! Can't get anyone out here to fix the problem...apparently they're so busy. I paid my money now I'm not important anymore.They say they do professional and expert work.....so why are we at this point. Angry and disappointed 😞

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Monkey Fence. They consistently struggled to stick to commitments, starting with failing to show up on the agreed-upon workdays and leading to a frustrating cycle of endless rescheduling. Worse, I paid in full for a job that was left incomplete.
They started installing the fence August 28th and still have not finished. They didn't install the hardware that was agreed upon or put the fence everywhere it was supposed to be.
As you can see in the photos, the quality falls far short of professional standards: gate posts were left visibly out of level, and concrete bases were left partially unfilled and messy. I expected solid craftsmanship and basic reliability, but instead ended up paying full price for half-done work. I cannot recommend them.
Recently had Monkey Fence do a complete replacement of my fence and I couldn’t be happier! The price point was great and the quality of work was amazing. Provided a longer warranty than the other vendors I had provide quotes and they were quick to respond to both quote and the work. They took down the old fence and put up the new within two days. During the process they also suggested minor improvements they could implement and truly went above and beyond. Super satisfied with the finished product and the entire process that went into it. Highly recommend.

Not picking up garbage left at site
Very happy with the fence, took three more days to finish than promised, when they arrived, they unloaded their van of materials from a previous job so they could go get me material. Was told they would be back to pick up material dumped out of truck. Somebody has shown, it’s been a month, I have called, texted, promise made they would be out next day never show! Continuous calling just get run around, they will let manager know! No responses. Sad I was happy with the work, but very dissatisfied with the follow through and promises. I will update if they ever make this right! More calls tomorrow but very hard to get through to anyone,,,, at this point I would not recommend this company… hey monkey fence call me let’s get this settled this week!!!!!!!

Did a nice job of replacing our old wood fence. The quote included staining. We would guess that about 50% of the fence actually received any stain. My calls and emails to Monkey Fence have not been returned. Just wanted to discuss options but nothing but "crickets".
