Visited Kapes yesterday and was served by a polite young boy who was both charming and friendly. The service was excellent, and the smoothies were honestly the best we’ve ever had! Highly recommend.

Vastly overpriced synthetic tasting ice cream. £4.25 for a cone which probably has not been anywhere near dairy. Don’t do it. Just walk 20 meters and get something more natural and cheaper.

To my mind, there are three things you need to be a successful customer-facing business. Product Price ‘Vibes’ Of the above, two are very tangible. Kapes has genuinely excellent coffee, smoothies, soft-serve, pastries etc. if they sell it, you can trust it tastes very good. The pricing is absolutely in line with what you’d expect to pay - plus there’s the addition of a membership card, which grants a freebie. So when you’re taking into account vibes & quality, as well, it’s absolutely worth the price. There isn’t enough space in this review to describe the one intangible element. Frankly, the vibes are so good, you could get away with an inferior product & outrageous pricing - it doesn’t matter who is working - whether it’s Tom, Luca, Jade, Amelie etc you’ll get top-notch service, with a chuckle and chat thrown in, and all with a magnificent beachfront view! Wholeheartedly recommend, but be prepared to want to come back again & again.

We moved to Sidmouth just over a year ago and it’s at Kapes we have made some lifelong friends. Fabulous relaxed atmosphere, Tom and his crew run a friendly, efficient, tasty service. Don’t be put off by the queue as they get through it in no time. Special mention to Luca who is the very essence of service with a smile. If youre coming to Sidmouth, come to Kapes for a coffee, sit in the sun and look out at that view. Slice of heaven. Jim & Kate
