Excellent tour, guide, and education!
This was a great experience. We were able to see a lot of RI, learn about the history, culture and landscape while relaxing and letting someone else drive. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable. There were many stops on the way to take photos and tour around, so it never felt like we missed anything. I highly recommend this tour!

Average experience, decant overview
The information given ahead of time about check in and where to start the tour was confusing. There wasn’t anyone there for check in. The picture for the tour shows the capital building which isn’t part of the tour. The tour guide was kind and shared stories. Mostly stories about the mob more with some overview of the city’s history. The stops were varied and interesting and tied in well with some of the stories.

Disappointing
We expected a walk alongside a tour guide who would tell us what we were seeing (buildings, ocean, the Cliff Walk itself) and share other information about Newport as well. Instead, the guide said he knew only a few things about a few of the houses, and he quickly walked ahead, stopping only a few times to assemble the group and talk. The information is out there! While in Newport, we saw several books about the Cliff Walk that would have enabled an informative (not exhaustive) tour.

Not worth it!
We booked thru Viator. No one showed up. We called and couldn’t initially find our booking. Then they found it and apologized. we walked the area by ourselves and it was just fine. I have been waiting for my refund.

Upon reading your review, we have investigated the matter, and are not sure what happened here. There is never a time where our guides do not show up for a reserved tour. It is possible that your booking through Viator did not sync with our booking system. Also, since you booked through Viator and not directly through us, your refund comes from Viator, not us. We are sorry this happened. Everyone loves our Cliff Walk tour because you learn about the people and places you are seeing on the beautiful walk. We would have loved to given you the tour!
Thank you Ted for a top notch tour of all things Rhode Island today specifically in the Rhode Island in a day tour. We visited several towns and all were lovely. I also appreciated the wealth of history that Ted told all of us about on the tour. He made this tour very enjoyable and also has a nice sense of humor. A Thorough Rhode Is Tour
We really enjoyed Ted, our tour guide. A RI native, his love for Providence was evident throughout the bus tour. Lots of opportunities to get off and get closer to explore and take pics. No rushing. We learned so much about the Ocean State! Ted gave everyone their 8 hours-worth! Highly recommend.

General overview of Providence
If you are Italian American, you might start to feel a little uncomfortable as the guide’s enthusiastic (gleeful?), graphic depiction of Providence’s Italian American criminal past goes on for an inordinate length of time. Since the guide claimed to be a history buff, he might have provided a little balance by mentioning that William Paca of Italian descent was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and that Thomas Jefferson’s assertion that “all men are created equal” was inspired by the writings in Italian by his friend Philip Mazzei.
