From start to finish everyone that helped me including the security was very nice! Please dont give bad ratings if you did not make an appointment or fill out an application online. Waiting times are based on whether you prepared urself or not. I highly recommend this DMV!!! Thank you for a great experience!! I didnt even have to pay my renewal fees which was a blessing!

“get in line” function from their website is a game changer. Thank you for the lady working on counter 15, Sep 10th. Very efficient!
100% better than Redwood City. I lost my driver license and am international so cannot replace that online. I waited 3weeks for an appointment with Redwood City dmv, wait in line for one hour, only been told they “only replace driver license online”. Well, Santa Clara solved it in 5 mins.

5 hours wasted in line or waiting around. Service could not be slower even if they tried.

The people working here are nice but the system they are working with sucks. I have been to the DMV twice in the past week and both times their “system has been down”. It’s 2024, if your computers are not working there is a serious problem. I feel bad for the people working here and I feel bad for us citizens who have to put up with this nonsense.

Extremely disappointing service. They make it hard for immigrants and visa holders, showing no knowledge of immigration laws or documents. They often create illogical reasons on the spot and rarely issue a real ID to people on visas. I was told I couldn't get one because I didn’t keep the FedEx envelope my EAD card came in—absolutely ridiculous. They need to educate themselves on immigration laws; no one should have to endure this bureaucratic mess.

I’ve been to four different states, and it was the worst experience ever. There's no need to yell at people—they could be kinder and more composed.

Lost my passport there and the security and staffs are really nice and helpful. The staff at the window near line D check for lost and found and verified which one is my passport before passing it to me to ensure I get my passport back. Really great experience and thank you for putting the effort in making sure I get my passport back

Pleasantly surprised by the efficiency at this location. Arrived about 20 minutes before my 9:30 appointment and was directed to the appropriate line. Made it to the station at 9:32 and began the process to get a number. Waited less than 10 minutes before being directed to a window where I was thumb printed and eye tested, after which I was sent to get my photo taken. Waited 5 or so minutes, had my picture taken and was sent to the final line to get the temporary license to use if needed while waiting for the new one. Only snag was with vision testing equipment. It wouldn't light up properly for close up reading and I failed. I explained it was too dark to read all letters clearly and she took me back, corrected it and it worked as all the letters were lit up and I was able to read them all. Total time under 45 minutes. DMV employees often get a bad rap for being somewhat robotic and I've had that experience before. Today was a lot different. Actually got some smiles and how are you today from the 3 women I interacted with. Must be my charming personality! 😄

Employees are really frustrated (the ones at the door and who deal with the initial processing) and they take out this frustration and anger on the visitors. If you make the mistake of not understanding something said and ask for more information or clarify something to make sure you have understood it, you will be on the receiving end of unnecessarily rude behavior. It does not matter even if you smile and ignore this and say thank you despite this rudeness, your politeness will not be reciprocated in any way, shape or form. Really disappointing. The two stars are for the employees behind the windows, they are cool headed, cooperative and helpful.

This might be the first real negative comment I've written online cos I do always want to stay positive. I was at the DMV around 4:40 PM today. The intake woman at window 12 was horrific, has bad attitude. She treated the poor guy in front of me even worst. Borderline insulting. Are you seriously? If this was not a government job, she would have been fired long time ago. My expectation was so low and this experience didn't even meet that. What does it take for people who work there to be able to have just a LITTLE care for their customers? I'm not sure if I will see this being changed in my life time.
On the other hand, the lady at window 7 who processed the paperwork was great. Shout out to her. Please have more people like her work there.
