Family time with monkeys
We had such an awesome time - we saw white faced monkeys, and got to interact with them quite a bit! We also saw a couple sloth, lizards, birds, and turtles. Was a fun way to see the jungle and animals!! Alonzo and crew took very good care of us, and appreciate the hospitality of Eileen and team. Thank you!
incomparable full of nature and emotions
Definitely a unique experience ,the arrival at the place super easy can be reached by low car without problem and is close to Manuel Antonio Qpos. Very friendly and helpful staff. I could repeat it 1000 times. Thanks to Aylin for his charisma and kindness. And mention the monkeys that it is definitely a fascinating attraction to see how they answer the call of the guides 😍
Run away !
It's a scam, they make you pay $75 for a tour which includes an hour and a half on the boat (with good traction so that it lasts longer), and therefore a "lunch" at 10:50 in the morning. .. Which will consist of a tiny hot dog and a water juice. There is a single queue of boats on the mangrove and the guides feed the monkeys to provide entertainment! It's a shame to charge this price for this type of service! It was our hotel (the Tabulia Tree) which made the reservation for us...
Lots of monkeys!
There are lots of tour companies doing this tour. We were very satisfied with this one. It was arranged by Dani, the wonderful concierge at “Escape Villas”. We were fully prepared to pay in cash. This is not at all unusual we found. Two of us were in kayaks and two of us and 8-month old granddaughter were in a boat. The Capuchin monkeys were the most interesting part of the tour, and our knowledgeable guide gave us lots of time watching them. At no time were they aggressive. Our granddaughter was captivated. Fun, interesting tour with a very decent lunch included back in town.
WARNING! Bring CASH only (US$50-$75 pp, depending on where you're being picked up) and SWIMSUIT (you'll get very wet in some of
Most important: the tour guide demanded our payment in cash when we arrived at the site. Neither the hotel nor the driver warned us ahead of time.We did the kayaking tour; easy ~2h paddling (no experience needed) but wear a swimsuit and/or prepare to get wet depending on which kayak you get.We saw monkeys, lizards, iguanas, tiger heron, sloth. But this is NOT a mangrove ecosystem tour because most of the paddling is in palm forest. José was very knowledgeable and friendly. After the tour we had a rushed mediocre "local" lunch at a place in Quepos, included in the tour price. Tl;dr There are multiple Mangrove boat or paddling tours; I didn't feel there was anything special about this one.
Peaceful way to experience a unique place
This was a wonderful tour and a great way to experience this very unique environment in Costa Rica. Our tour guide, Diego, was very knowledgeable about the ecology and environment, and was able to point out a ton of different birds, lizards, and other wildlife during the tour. Being on kayaks, the tour was quite peaceful and we were able to stop and look at any wildlife we saw. There was a family of monkeys that started coming out of the mangroves at one point, and he guide knew all their names and was able to explain the family’s hierarchy. The guide also took pics throughout the tour and shared them with us at the end which was a nice bonus. After the tour we were taken to a local soda for a delicious Casado lunch and refreshing drink, which was the perfect end to the tour.
mangrove tour
We had a wonderful tour of the mangroves today with Cambute Tours. Our driver picked us up promptly at 8:20 and very kindly told us all about Quepas, the town we were driving through. On the Mangrove Tour, Diego was a fabulous guide. He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area and showed us many wonderful sights. Afterwards, a delicious lunch at a local restaurant was included. We had a memorable, terrific time and we would highly recommend the tour to others.
👍 for monkeys 👎 for mangrove
I booked this through the hotel as a mangrove tour. The guide was pretty knowledgeable - esp about monkeys but the tour hardly went into the mangrove. It stayed in palm plantation for the most part with about 10 minutes in mangrove. Overall the tour was about just an hour - and within that time there were three different stops for monkey interaction with different groups of the same species. The first one was cool - but then it became repetitive and I felt like the whole point of exploring the mangrove was lost. We saw some wildlife though - a large speckled green racer snake, bats, a kingfisher, heron, turtles , Jesus Christ lizards, colorful crabs, iguanas and of course many white faced monkeys. The guide seems to know them very well and treat them very responsibly through the interaction. To be clear , they are actually call themselves a monkey tour. So I think I should have researched more and gone with a Damas Island mangrove tour for what I was actually looking for.
Way too expensive and also lacking respect toward the animals
This company offers all of which we try to avoid, i.e. it takes money from tourists to exploit the land's resources and the picture it chose for its profile shows it really well. Animals should be respected in their environment and not be attracted for people'enjoyment. The Mangrove tour which we did is way too expensive and we felt pity for the monkeys for the way they interact with them and invited us to do so.
Awesome Kayak Tour
We did the kayak tour in the man grove today. It was a beautiful morning. Jorge was our guide. He picked us up at our resort exactly on time. What a super nice and happy guy! He was so knowledgeable about the area, and pointed out o many beautiful plants, flowers and trees. We saw some great animals. We spent lots of time watching the monkey’s play in the trees, and explore their curiosity of us. It was a blast to watch them. It was nice to enjoy the quiet natural sounds of the area, without much human chatter. It was a very relaxing float/paddle, both ways. We got to watch the monkey’s again on the way back. At this time, they were ready for their siesta! I would definitely recommend going in the morning, if possible. We had an amazing lunch, and they were accommodating to diet issues! We would highly recommend this tour! Pura Vida!
Cambute Mangrove Tours
Mangrove Tour - today my wife and another couple, who are good friends, had an incredible kayak mangrove tour with our guide Jorge. He was fabulous, knowledgeable and full of energy. We saw some incredible palm plantations, had the history and related economy described, saw some reptile and fish life and shared some great conversations on the waterways.Had a great time.I would certainly recommend Cambute and Jorge and we will certainly use them again for further exploring.
Pleasant but disappointing
We were charged more than the price listed on their website—$65 not $56– for the kayak mangrove tour. Our guide paddled way ahead of us, even after I asked him to slow down, and said little about the wildlife or nature surrounding us. Lunch included, but it didn’t justify the price. If you can, rent kayaks and go yourselves.
Not Worth the Price
Disappointing for a number of reasons: The tour was only an hour, when we expected a couple of hours on the water. We paddled through a man made canal instead of in a natural mangrove environment. Those of us who used credit cards were charged more than those who uses cash, without any explanation. Don’t waste your money... do something else in CR instead. There are lots of options.
Thank you for a tour
I was in Manuel Antonio in mid November, the low season, so there weren’t many tour groups for the times I could go. Cambute Tours made a special effort to accommodate my timing to make the mangrove tour possible.Andreas was a great guide, pointing out animals and plants along the way. He had grown up in the area and knew it very well. I would definitively book with him again in the future.
