Staying in house, so ended up with 2 dinners & 2 breakfasts here. Food was ok (enjoyed the duck pate & the schnitzel) although am few items were overcooked (sausages & bacon at breakfast).
Deserts were very good, but found the breakfast pastries a bit limited.
Good breakfast options with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, various hit (could order eggs to suit), juices, coffee machine.
Not a lot of atmosphere, just a cafe on ground floor adjacent to reception. There is a bar area.
During a recent visit to Sydney from Brisbane, I stopped by the Novotel for a casual drink and was thoroughly impressed. Both the beverages and the overall service were outstanding. I would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Dipsan for his exceptionally warm hospitality, which truly elevated the experience. I highly recommend this venue and look forward to returning.
Ordered the steak and frites only to be suprised at the size. Portion of a MINUTE STEAK served with underwelming salad (lettuce ,cherry tomatoes and onion with dressing). Fries could use some seasoning aswell.
Waitress was alright but didn’t ask how the steak we wanted our steak.
Overall was an underwhelming experience
Great atmosphere though.
It pains me when I can’t leave places a good review but if I’m being totally truthful I would never go back to Birdie. We had reservations for 8 and high expectations based on the location, menu and prices. We spent about $550.00. The atmosphere is great and the food presentation as you can see in the images is absolutely brilliant. But the food and service is well below average. It was a shocker because every time they brought a plate our eyes popped! But other than the garlic bread with cheese and the desert you see in the picture (these two items were fantastic) the food was okay at best and tasteless at worst. To a person when I asked them about their meal; they shrugged and said “it’s…okay” and they were being generous with that comment. The food was largely tasteless was the main problem. I had a few bites of the zucchini salad and I swear it tasted like water. And one guest who had the Yorkshire Pudding said it was the worst he has ever tasted. I’m not being dramatic just be factual because we had great expectations. From a service standpoint they didn’t have enough staff to service us properly. At the start they had a hostess and a bar keep. We sat so long I had to get up and ask the hostess if I could go to the bar myself to order the table drinks. We asked for more water mid meal but it never came so I had to go to the waiters stand and get it myself for the table. No one asked if our meal tasted ok or if they could get us another drink. I had to wave someone down every single time someone wanted another drink from the bar.
I would say if you’re staying at the hotel go ahead and eat there because it’s downstairs. But there are WAY too many choices in that area for you to spend hundreds of $ just to get below avg service and food. Again I loved the garlic cheese bread and the desert though.
A terrible experience , the menu advertises sirloin steak w frites with a house beverage for 💲2️⃣6️⃣. What you receive it, it is a very thin minute steak w cold 🍟.
I ordered a red cabbage salad with walnuts asking the waiter prior how big is the salad❓ he said enough for 2️⃣ when it arrived at my table it was barely 80g🙄 with sugar coated walnuts, 😳 not disclosed on menu. I told the 'chef' not happy with the 🥗 or the meal, can you refund part of it❓ he got real aggressive with me as I went to complain to manager at front of house he followed me there & stood over me listening to what I was telling the manager about this woeful experience....give this place a miss ....👎👎👎
Birdie Restaurant is located near Wynyard Station. The vibe is relaxed yet stylish, perfect for catching up with friends or winding down after work. The food is good value and beautifully presented, and everything tastes amazing. I recently went with a group of colleagues for lunch, and everyone enjoyed their meal.
