I have never been to a more thorough and caring auto shop than Bernie’s. I just moved to Seattle a few weeks ago and had some issues with a hard brake pedal at the end of last week. I called the next day and they told me to stop by and they would take a look and try to get me taken care of before the weekend. True to their word, they provided me with helpful and detailed reports of the inspection, recommended repair, and a printout of the components needing repair. They said the work was extensive and required dealership parts and recommended I take my car there and have them confirm diagnostics and complete the repairs. They were beyond kind and didn’t charge me for the inspection, despite how thorough it was, and they even aired up the spare tire in my trunk that I admittedly haven’t thought about in years (and hence why it was low)! They also assisted me with getting my vehicle towed to the dealership. The guy they recommended, Dino (Gus Cooper Towing), was easy to communicate with and super prompt. I was able to leave my keys at Bernie’s and he towed directly from Bernie’s to the dealership within a few hours.
Lastly, the dealership recommended some other service maintenance be performed on my car. I reached out to Bernie’s for a second opinion on necessity and cost. Again, they were super helpful and honest and let me know that the dealership prices were comparable to theirs and while they were happy to do the work, they understood if I wanted the dealership to take care of it. Since my car was already at the dealership, I ended up having them perform all of the work, but I cannot say enough how happy and appreciative I am of the wonderful team at Bernie’s. While I hope to not encounter any more major car issues, I will definitely be going to Bernie’s for all of my future car maintenance needs and recommending them to anyone who needs a good shop. I didn’t see Gus Cooper Towing on Google Maps, but also just want to shout out my experience with them as well and similarly, will happily recommend them to anyone who needs towing services.
The team at Bernie’s is great… just did work on my daughter’s rig to make sure it was running well and safe to drive. They did great research on the model, explained their process and answered all my questions. They are just good, highly competent and caring guys! Go see Bernie’s!
These guys are fantastic- called with car problems dropped my truck off 10 minutes later also told them I had an important deadline in the afternoon- they got me in out and repaired in short order and on my way at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend these folks.

While we always strive to get our customers in and out as quickly and confidently as possible, it doesn't always work out quite as easily as it did with your experience. It makes us happy when everything works as planned but as they say, "best laid plans..." :). We are a small shop with 5 technicians but definitely one of the busiest ones in Ballard and we are very proud of that along with the quality of our work and customer service. Thank you, again!
Got an oil change at bernies, they are honest, integrous, and overall super kind and helpful. plus they have the cutest shop dog around!!! highly recommend and will be back!
I have only good things to say about Bernie’s. I have been taking my car here since I moved to Seattle and was continually impressed by their honesty, communication, friendliness and excellent work. Unfortunately my old car is no longer with us, and my new car is a model they don’t work on. But I cannot recommend this place enough, and will miss the kind people and service I received here!

I appreciate the honesty of these guys, I had a broken bolt in my thermostat housing and Sam found I could get this fixed for cheaper by taking it to the last place that did other service due to a few belt being frayed.
Strongly recommend Bernie's. My car broke down suddenly during the holiday's, and even though it turned out to be a problem Bernie's could not handle, they kept my car for a few weeks until the next shop had room to take my car in. They were honest, fair and nice; can't recommend them enough!

Rip Off. No proof of what they say they replaced. Turn a small job in to a big job with lots of hours.
They make no effort to be courteous when they over bill you, and offer nothing to keep you as a customer. They don't follow through on basic courteous things they say they will do. Rude.
Charlie, Sam and their entire team are absolutely incredible. I’ve taken my Prius in for multiple issues: oil change, breaks, skid plate replacement and a new catalytic converter. Charlie is kind, honest and professional from start to finish. I trust them completely with all my car needs!

Set an appointment for Wednesday to get my brakes done(1.5 hour job), wasn’t told a time to show up so I assumed whenever and it would be 2-3 hours. Show up at 10 AM(they open at 8) and am told they will not be able to fix it today and that I have to leave it overnight if I want it fixed. Why have an appointment if you aren’t going to fix it that day. Waste of my time 🙂

Hi Noah. Thank you for your review and voicing your unhappiness with your recent experience with us. I apologize for any misunderstanding or miscommunication on our behalf. While we always strive to return customers vehicles repaired correctly as quickly as possible, we cannot ever really guarantee that it will be the same day. Unfortunately there are too many variables that are out of our control...even for the simplest of jobs. For example, staffing issues due to illness for emergencies; parts availability; unforeseen complications or repairs i.e. vehicle modifications or unknown damage. What we do offer is the appointment to at least inspect and assess your vehicle's needs and go from there. Yes, most brake jobs can and are done within a day but when we haven't assessed your vehicle's brake needs for ourselves, we just can't make that guarantee. According to our records, you brought your vehicle in at 10:45 and were the last booked appointment to show. So we had already lost 1/3 of the day. We told you we would do our best and that you may have to leave it overnight. My apologies for your inconvenience. My name is Troy, I am the owner, and you are more than welcome to give me a call to discuss it further or if there is anything I can do to help. Again, thank you for voicing your concern.
Fantastic, honest, knowledgeable, thorough repair shop. I cannot express how happy I am with not only their service on my vehicle, but the customer service I had received. Not too many good, honest repair shops these days and these people are moving the sticks forward. Thank you Bernie!!!
