Booked a 7-day hiking expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro's Uhuru peak. Communication via email and WhatsApp was prompt and responsive. From picking us up from the hotel to guiding us through the mountain for 7 days, we always felt secure and well taken care of. George, the mountain guide, alongside his team (porters, cook, etc) was extremely experienced and patient. I highly recommend.

We booked a 13-day itinerary in Kenya and Tanzania with Zanzi Trekking and Safaris, and I cannot recommend them enough. Every detail was carefully taken care of. The attention and dedication of Dennis and Honest were outstanding — they were always reachable and willing to help us with anything we needed. The team at Zanzi Trekking and Safaris is truly professional. The guides were very knowledgeable during the safaris in Kenya and Tanzania, and the crew for the Mount Meru hike was extremely dedicated. I loved having the chance to combine two very different experiences within one itinerary. As mentioned, if I ever go back to Kenya or Tanzania, I will definitely contact Zanzi again!

My brother and I had the great opportunity of joining the Zanzi Trekking team on the 6-day Lemosha hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro. We were thoroughly impressed by professionalism and knowledge right from the beginning! The lead guide Isack met us the day before the hike to ensure we had all of the necessary gear for a successful trek. We went through an equipment checklist, and anything that was missing we were able to rent. It was great to have open conversations with Isack, and we didn't feel pressured into renting anything that wasn't absolutely necessary for the trip. During the hike, Isack and Nixon (assistant guide) were extremely personable and we had a lot of fun conversations! They also performed a great assessement of our hiking ability and adjusted the pace accordingly. The 6 day hike was perfect, as the days were not too long or too short (there would have been some half days if we did the 8 day given our pace). The crew we hiked with was phenomenal and tents were set up on our arrival to the camps. The food was well prepared and timely (cuddos to the Chef)! The guides monitored our well being each morning and evening to ensure we were acclimating appropriately. The summit day was certainly challenging and cold compared to the first 5 days, yet we made it to the peak just in time for the sunrise! What a spectacular view- we were far above the clouds and there were unique ice formations ans glaciers nearby-it was like nothing like I've ever seen before!! Well worth the hike and very rewarding. Our last few days Isack showed us around Arusha and took us to Materuni Waterfall. Highly recommend the waterfall as the environment is far different than what we had seen during the hike or our earlier safari (more of a jungle). Lastly, we truly enjoyed the City tour. This was surprisingly one of the coolest days of our ~3 week trip!! It was so cool being able to explore the local shops, markets, and stores without seeing tourists around. We spent time with Isack during the day and Nixon im the evening and got a first hand experience of what day-to-day life looked like in the City. It was very interesting to see the cultural differences from Michigan where we are from. Overall, we could not have asked for a better tour!! Without the experience and knowledge of the guides, we wouldn't have made it to the peak. Also the enthusiasm and kindness of the entire team was greatly appreciated. Highly highly recommend Zanzi Trekking if you plan on hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro.

I have been in October 2025 with Zanzi Trekking and Safaris on an 11-day budget journey through Kenya (Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru) and Tansania (Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro). Overall, the trip was fantastic with some minor points that could be improved (see further below). I will go through the different categories point by point. Budget Group travel (5/5): Be aware that you will not spent the whole trip with the same people. Different agencies arrange together vehicles so that it is possible to offer these budget trips. In particular for expensive parks such as Serengeti it will be optimized as having a car in Serengeti is expensive. This may result in a different order of the itinerary but nothing will be skipped or missed. Everything worked out very well. Accommodation (5/5): For the same reason the hotels/camps mentioned in advance might not be the ones you are actually staying at. It should be said that they are of a similar standard. Given that it is a budget travel, the chosen accommodations are very good. Communication (4/5): That must be seperated into three parts: Email-communication with Zanzi; briefing in Kenya and briefing in Tanzania. Email (4/5): The communication with Zanzi via Email before was good. All important things have been addressed. Kenya (5/5): The pick up at the airport worked very well. The next day we got a very good briefing by Esther in Nairobi. She is the agent of the company that manages the Kenyan part of the journey (we were very pleased about everything here so we also booked an additional private safari with her company). Tanzania (3/5): The briefing in Tanzania upon arrival at the hotel in Arusha was not optimal. It was not mentioned that the cook that is in our hotel will join us also for Serengeti and Ngorongoro. That resulted later in a bit of confusion, in particular as there was no briefing on the tipping policy in Tanzania. Food (4/5): Kenya (3/5): The food was generally good but it was for four days at every lunch and dinner the same. Rice, with a kind of spinach and a stew. Tanzania (5/5): Great food from our chef. He also asked for special diet requirements and addressed them. Really fantastic. Game viewing and guides (5/5): Game viewing is what you want on a safari and the experience you have are directly related to the performances of your guides. We were with Josef in Kenya and Ismail in Tanzania. Both are very skilled and enabled us to see a lot of animals. Essentially we have seen all typical safari animals (see some of the pictures): Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Rhino, Cheetah, Giraffe, Hippo, Hyena, Zebra, Wildebeest, Baboons and many more .... We were also very lucky to see several attempts of lions and even once a leopard on the hunt. Josef and Ismail were able to explain to us a lot about the different animals and also knew the birds we have seen. Ismail also had a little book where he could show pictures of the different animals and also show the differences. Further, it needs to be said that both are very capable drivers. We saw many cars with breakdowns because of the very harsh conditions (roads and dust) the cars have to manage. Conclusion (5/5): Great journey. It had everything I wished for and even more included.

Our Kilimanjaro climb was flawlessly planned, with every detail considered, ensuring the success of our summit attempt without any risk. They adeptly accommodate trekkers of all experience levels, transforming what could be a challenging endeavor into a truly enjoyable one. Kilimanjaro Machame route was incredible. 6 days fully organised every step of the way, with the team handling a situation where we had to split up incredibly well. George, Omari and Charles especially were incredible guides constantly looking out for our health and explaining everything in advance. The food by Basili (i can’t remember his real name) was absolutely incredible for a 6 day hike, not just Tanzanian food and lots of meat shockingly! It was so good, and the hike itself is gorgeous and challenging.

My experience on this safari was absolutely extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfectly organized, a warm welcome, clear explanations, and flawless care from start to finish. Overall my experience was great and the hike was incredible. Thank you so much for everything and special thanks to Georg and Crew for making this trek possible, you are the real heros. Nevertheless, there were few things which I would appreciate that they would be communicated with me beforehand. When I booked the tour I thought that I might be joining the group or they communicate with another agencies to put me together with group. On the arrival I find out that I am hiking alone. Also female guide was promised to me and at the airport I found out that my guide is male. These little details made me bit worried and I wished it would be communicated with me prior the tour. Also another groups had toilet tent and another add ons. It would be good to have this information and options before as I had no clue. Now to the hike itself, my experience was incredible. The team of 7 people were supporting me. Due to the fact that I am experienced hiker and I was hiking alone we did the tour in 6 days instead of 7 days. The food was delicious and the whole crew always tried to help me and fulfill my wishes. Without my guide George I would probably not make it to the top as he was motivating me and pushing me to reach the summit. Everyone was incredibly friendly and nice to me and I was more than happy with my experience and trekking in beautiful Kilimanjaro National Park ❤️.

We sincerely apologize for the last-minute changes regarding your guide.
Unfortunately, our female guide Naomi became sick just a few days before the start of your climb, and for safety reasons, we had to assign another guide.
Our operations team informed you during the pre-climb briefing, but we completely understand that earlier communication would have made things clearer and more reassuring.

Regarding the toilet tent and other add-ons, these are included in our mid-range and luxury packages, but not in the budget option you selected.
They can always be added at an extra cost upon request. This information is mentioned in the pre-trip documents we send to every client and explained again during the briefing. However, it seems this was not clear enough in your case, and we’ll make sure to highlight this information more clearly in future briefings to avoid any confusion.

Kilimanjaro the roof of Africa, an unforgettable adventure ! Pole Pole and Hakuna Matata. We climbed Kilimanjaro with my friend via the 6-day Lemosho route, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives. We reached the summit on September 20, and everything — from the organization to the team’s support — made this journey truly special. Our main guide Zacharia was exceptional. He constantly shared interesting explanations about the mountain, plants, its history, ... He did everything possible to ensure we succeeded, always motivating us with a smile and great professionalism. Thanks to him, the whole climb felt safe, enjoyable, and inspiring. David, our second guide, was always in the right place at the right time — calm, caring, and attentive to everyone’s needs. During the final night to the summit, we were also joined by “Piano Piano”, one of the porters, who carried hot tea and was here just in case. His presence and kindness were truly reassuring. The cook did an amazing job preparing tasty and varied meals every day, and the seven porters, including our friendly server, made sure we were always comfortable. Their smiles and positive energy brought so much joy to the journey. This was more than just a climb — it was a beautiful human experience made possible by a dedicated and professional team. I highly recommend Zacharia and the crew to anyone dreaming of reaching the Roof of Africa!

An Incredible Experience We did the 6-day Machame route and it was truly an unforgettable experience. A huge thank you to our amazing guides, Omary and Jumanne, who made the journey to the summit absolutely perfect. Thanks to their deep knowledge and experience, they set the right pace for us, and we reached the summit just in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise — a moment I will never forget. We also want to thank Adamu, who woke us up every morning with a big smile and always made sure we had everything we needed. And of course, special thanks to our talented chef, Laurence, who cooked delicious meals every day, giving us the energy we needed to keep going. Lastly, a big thank you to the entire crew Bashiri, Alute, Hassan, Julius, Alex y Amos, each one of them played a key role in making this adventure possible. I 100% recommend Zanzi Trekking & Safaris. It was an amazing and well-organized experience from start to finish!
