Highly recommend Lucy, Dave and the rest of the team at Kip McGrath. They offer very supportive daytime sessions for home educated children (and those educated other than in school,) and they have a great understanding of anxiety, neurodiversity and other conditions which could affect these children. My daughter has made fantastic progress since starting here and feels that her tutors really understand her. She feels safe and valued and her self-confidence has greatly improved, which I feel has had the biggest impact on her ability to learn.

This is a wonderful find in the centre of Acomb, York. Lucy & Nick are such supportive tutors. My daughter went for 3 lessons, before starting school, in the summer holidays 2025. This was to help her progress with writing. Fabulous communication, via email, from both teachers. My daughter was very happy from the start and so was I!

Thank you Lucy, Luke & Sam for your support and encouragement with Ben this last year. He joined after his GCSE mocks with a 4 in English language, 3 in Literature and a 5 in maths. He was demoralised and quietly worried. Today he's got his results, a 7 in both English and Maths and a 6 in Literature. My daughter has had Maths tutoring at Acomb, York in the run up to her GCSE’s. Having a centre local to us for face to face tutoring is perfect and Luke and his team are great. My daughter was tutored by Michael who has boosted her confidence immensely. They are a friendly and professional team and I wouldn’t hesitate give my recommendation.

The team at Kip McGrath are amazing. They have been so good at improving my daughters confidence. In less than 1 year she has caught up to expected level in year 7, which is incredible progress from where she was. The team are so nice to deal with and Luke patient focus and help in her lessons has been just what she needed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them

So happy with the team and specifically Luke from Kip McGrath - he has helped my daughter who was really struggling in maths leaving primary school. She had no confidence and was stuck around year 4 level when he started teaching her at the beginning of year 7. She is now working at expected level and her confidence has improved in less than 1 year of weekly lessons.

I contacted Kip McGrath at very short notice to get my son some tuition with English Language at the end of his year 11 mock exams.
Alf was quite low regarding English and just couldn’t come to grasp with the way his teacher was at school was teaching it! She wasn’t trained in Edexel so she was struggling too, so that just put Alf back even more!
That’s when I heard about Kip McGraph. 🤩
Lucy and Luke were amazing and managed to get Alf in with the equally amazing Sam on a Saturday morning.
Alf really thrived and enjoyed every session he had so we managed to squeeze in a couple more sessions just before his exams. A couple with Lucy too.
Alf thought his tutors were really great, a lot better and more knowledgeable and easier to understand than his teachers at school, which made all the difference as when he has had his English Language exam he said it went really well.
Lucy and Luke are very responsive when you email or phone and leave a message, you get updated on your child’s progress and it doesn’t cost the earth for a lesson either.
So we are so so pleased to have found Kip McGraph Tutoring, I just wish I had gotten to them at the start of the year instead at the end.

My son is really benefitting from the focussed support in lessons with Kip teachers both academically and in terms of his self-confidence. He finds the lessons enjoyable and doesn’t complain about doing the homework! Thank you for helping him unlock his potential! Definitely recommend!

They simply let my child down. The first lesson they had technical issues so the lesson was moved to the following week and I appreciate errors occur. The week after there were technical issues and so they decided due to this they cannot offer tuition.
We feel really let down.
I do hate to leave a negative review but I would not want anyone else to encounter this. Due to this I would not recommend them as a company.
Georgie has been attending Kit McGrath for nearly a year now and she has grown in confidence and Lucy gives her so much encouragement with all her work .

Our children have started at Kip in the past year and have come on leaps and bounds since. They both do English and maths and their grades, work and confidence have improved. Lucy and luke have been a great help.
