They make too many assumptions and as a result took a full year past their original agreement for installation. Threatened to keep my money if I cancelled due to their tardiness. The only redemption was the professionalism of the contractor who installed the system.
I would choose another company if I were you.
Dealing with Xolar's sales team has been frustrating and confusing. The first person I spoke to seemed bored and uninterested in my project. The second sales person I spoke to called me exclusively on their personal line with no company caller id, and never left voicemail messages. When we finally managed to get a sales call set up, the sales person I spoke then didn't have answers for what seemed like basic information. Also, none of what I communicated in my original call seemed to have been passed along to the follow-up call. I'm interested in considering Xolar for my solar project, but they don't make it easy!
This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a company. The communication has been awful. The installation is now over a year late. Every time I've asked for updates they seemed to know less than I did. They finally shipped the equipment and scheduled an install - only to discover half way through that they didn't send all the necessary pieces. There are now solar panels in the garage and in a guest room and NO UPDATES for weeks from the company. Truly awful customer service.

The missing parts discovered during installation were due to the supplier shipping the equipment incomplete with several parts on backorder, which we were not notified about. Normally, we ship everything complete in one shipment and schedule the installer once it arrives on site - in this case we only found out that the shipment was missing material after the installer had got half way through the job. Unfortunately this hiccup has led to your installation being delayed until we get the parts delivered, but it is not our normal procedure and is not something that we expected to happen.
We apologize for the delays, and appreciate your continued patience. We are working to have the remaining parts delivers and your installation completed as soon as possible. We want to clarify that your installation is not forgotten, and the remaining components are currently being coordinated with our suppliers so we can finalize the job.

AVOID XOLAR — WORST COMPANY I’VE EVER DEALT WITH
Terrible experience from start to finish. Xolar takes your money upfront and then disappears for months. Their “project manager” couldn't answer basic questions and even threatened to drop me as a customer when I asked for updates.
Solar panels were delivered by an incompetent contractor who broke two panels on arrival. It took Xolar ages to replace them. The installer showed up not knowing anything was damaged, installed what he had, and left.
Xolar also misled me about government rebates. It’s now November 2025 and I received zero rebates. They sent outdated, incorrect information and have no understanding of actual programs. I had to research everything myself while they ghosted me.
The heat pump installation was even worse. The workers looked high, the unit was misconfigured, and instead of saving money my gas usage went UP. AUX heat kept triggering because Xolar didn’t set up the system properly. Their “official contractor” isn’t even registered in Ontario.
Customer service is basically non-existent: no answers, no timelines, no follow-up, and nobody takes responsibility.
This company is unprofessional, incompetent, and dishonest. Avoid Xolar at all costs.

Project Timelines & Communication
We understand how frustrating delays can be. Your project experienced supply-chain issues outside of our control, and our team did provide ongoing updates as information became available. At no point did we “disappear,” nor did we threaten to drop your project - we only clarified timelines and next steps based on the information we had at the time.
Equipment Delivery & Installation
The damaged panels were the responsibility of the third-party freight carrier, and replacements were ordered and delivered as soon as the manufacturer could provide them. The installer proceeded with the components that were intact so that your project wouldn’t face even further delays.
Customer Service
While we recognize communication didn’t meet your expectations at every stage, our team has responded to each of your inquiries and worked to resolve every issue brought to our attention. We remain committed to supporting you.
System Performance
We installed a 7.12 kW solar array with SolarEdge inverter, which since being turned on in July has already produced 4080 kWh of energy, which is outstanding.
We truly want to work with you toward a positive outcome. Please reach out to support@xolar.ca so we can review your file with management and ensure everything is completed to your satisfaction.
