Black belt head instructor/owner Travis is a highly technical, detail-oriented instructor. If you are new to jiujitsu or even if you have been around awhile, you will eventually realize that it's those "little" details that make the difference between win, lose, or draw. In competition, it's nice to win. In real life self-defense, you simply cannot afford to lose.
As a new person to jiujitsu, it can sometimes take years to understand which details are important. That's why it's so important to have an instructor who actually KNOWS jiujitsu and is willing to share what he knows with students.
As a black belt myself, I highly recommend Watermark for the: high quality instruction, respect for the art and for the student, professionalism, welcoming environment and, as an added plus, beautiful facility in a lovely wooded environment with big windows.
Jiujitsu is a long journey and the sooner you or your child can get on the right path with the right guide, the better for everybody.
I had the pleasure of dropping in for a week while visiting my kids, and I have to say, the facilities were the best I’ve ever seen. I can’t emphasize enough how well-maintained and top-notch everything is. The team was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making me feel right at home. The professor brings a modern approach to BJJ that’s different from the traditional style I’ve experienced, but in just one week, I picked up two valuable techniques that I’m excited to incorporate into my game. When compared to other places in the area, I’m not just recommending them—I’m saying, if you want to learn what really works, avoid bad habits, and experience a modern take on BJJ, this is the place to go.
I’ve been training at Watermark for 7-8 months now coming in with virtually zero experience in the sport. Thanks to Travis, I’ve learned the basics in a relatively short amount of time to the point that I was actually able to compete last month and win matches in a tournament.
His facility is extremely clean and the mats are well maintained. And everyone that trains there has a good attitude and upper ranks always will take the time to work with lower ranks.
He makes the material from each class applicable to every skill level and he will make adjustments on certain techniques based on your size, age, and level of athleticism.
Most importantly, I feel safe learning in this environment because I know my instructor(and guest instructors) have literally YEARS and thousands of hours of mat time and that gives me the confidence to know if I can learn to train smartly l too can continue to learn this great self defense system for years to come.
Watermark BJJ is a great choice for anyone! Top level instruction from an elite active world class competitor and black belt. Travis has bettered my daughter game immensely. He’s is not just an excellent Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and professor but he truly cares about each person's development, adult or child. He pays attention to each and every student. Their strengths and weaknesses. Travis will roll with everyone. The team and atmosphere is all good vibes and friendliness. Whether you are a competitor or not, this is absolutely an incredible place to train. The facility is a state of art and very clean and welcoming place. Check it out. Highly recommended!
I came into Watermark Jiu Jitsu with zero knowledge of the sport two months ago and Travis was able to make everything very digestible and clear to the point where I got my first tournament win this past weekend. Travis is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet and everyone who trains there is very welcoming. If you are in the Cleveland area, this is the place to go for jiu jitsu and it has a little bit for everyone. There are also class times multiple times a day to fit your busy schedule. Overall, this place is the highlight of the days that I go and I wish I could be there on the days I am not there.
Watermark is 10 / 10 Absolutely Amazing!!! What an incredible Jiu Jitsu Facility !! Head Coach Travis is a Phenomenal Leader, Coach and Training Partner. Along with his Brother Trevor I have nothing but The Absolute Best experiences with both of them. From kids, to Adult Competitors, I Would highly Recommend Watermark Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to anyone and everyone!
There’s so much I could say about Travis. I had the privilege of training with him for 4 years, both as a training partner and under his guidance as my coach. To this day, he remains the best teacher I’ve ever had. His ability to break down techniques with clear concepts, combined with his patience and openness to questions, is what sets him apart.
When I was a white belt struggling with confidence and feeling like I was falling behind, I went to Travis for private lessons. His guidance played a huge role in helping me find the right direction and build my game.
If you're in the area or considering starting jiujitsu, I can confidently say this is the place to go. Travis has created an environment that offers everything you could ask for: a positive and welcoming atmosphere, a hard-working training room, and a deep dive into both techniques and concepts. It's rare to find all three in one place, but he’s truly captured them all.
I’ve known Travis for almost 3 years now, he has so much knowledge to offer for his students. Travis is a phenomenal instructor, his classes offer a great balance of demonstration and technique, as well as a safe environment for sparring. Watermark Jiu Jitsu offers a top notch facility that is super clean, and even has a pit wall, which is pretty awesome. I highly recommend anyone in the Cleveland area to come check out Watermark Jiu Jitsu. 10/10
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Watermark Jiu Jitsu! As a former collegiate wrestler, I was curious about trying something new and decided to give jiu jitsu a shot. From the moment I walked in, the environment was clean, professional, and extremely welcoming. The mats were in great condition, and the entire facility had a positive, focused vibe.
Travis Anderson is an outstanding coach. You can immediately tell he has a passion for teaching—he’s knowledgeable, approachable, and has a natural ability to make newcomers feel at ease. There was no awkwardness or pressure; just a solid, encouraging learning environment. I picked up a lot on my very first day and walked away feeling both challenged and motivated.
The other athletes there were incredibly helpful and respectful. I could tell they were taking it easy on me as a beginner, which I appreciated—it made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. It's a great place for anyone looking to try something new, get a killer workout, and push themselves in a supportive setting.
If you're on the fence about jiu jitsu or just looking for an engaging alternative to your regular workout routine, I can't recommend Watermark Jiu Jitsu enough. The first week is free, so there’s really no reason not to try it out. Huge thanks to Travis and the Watermark team—I'll definitely be back!
