Had a wonderful time carving some beautiful pieces today with Arepa and Mana.
My wife and I wanted to make Pounamu for each other to commemorate our year in NZ.
Arepa and Mana were super helpful in discussing what was a reasonable design and helped us without taking over.
A super chilled Maori owned workshop with only New Zealand green stone.
Tēnā kōrua for your help guys.
We made our own design for a jade stone, but multiple carving places turned us down because it was ‘too complex’ for beginners. EXCEPT for this magnificent little carving shop! Arepa took us under his wings and showed us how to carve our design, in just 3 days, without controlling us too much. We could experience and figure things out for our own, what we really enjoyed and whenever we got stuck he was there to the rescue. The vibes are awesome as there is always some good music to sing along to, what makes the whole experience kind of meditating. Would recommend this place to everyone that is looking for a unique jade stone!
{the photo is our own design and therefore is not carved by them. There pieces are even more beautiful}

Loved the shop, set up & relaxed chilled vibe of this Whare.
Well worth stopping in to see this beautiful craft & the artists in action.
My husband Mark & I are truly grateful for your mahi, support and taoka.
